MABEE REALIZES HE HAS GREAT CHANCE
(By Sargum Sprout)
ROY Mabee has his big chance coming up. He is doing every thing to take advantage of it to the best of his ability. If Roy wins, then he is in line to be a drawing card and a money maker. If he looses, it will mean his retirement from the mat or just the drawing ability of the ordinary wrestler.
The only money in the wrestling game is made by the top notchers. The ordinary wrestler has a hard time of it at best.
Roy has worked up to this match by good, clean methods; he has been a good clean sport, giving the public his best at all times and we, the fans, owe it to him to get behind him and boost.
Next Tuesday's match will mean a great deal to him and let us do all we can to help him out. Anaheim does not fail in any of her undertakings. We are going to make this one of the biggest successes of Anabeim's Sport history and Mr. Ad Santel will have the surprise of his life.
Roy is feeling better and showing more pep in his work outs than ever before. The great Ad is expected to arrive Saturday. Reports from his recent match up north prove him to be in the best of condition. There will be no fooling, no excuses, as both men will be in tip-top shape and the best man will win.
ARENA SHOULD BE PACKED FRIDAY EVE
By Sargum Sprout
The old arena out at the Sugar factory grounds, should be packed Friday evening when Joe Chaney and Johnnie Ray come together to settle their little argument.
Few boxers, if any, have been before the local public more times than Joe Chaney, and every time Joe has given his best. He has fought clean, acting the true sportsman at all times. He has never failed to give the fans their moneys worth. He has been one of the main stays of the club's success and deserves the loyal support of the local fans next.
FATHER OF LOCAL MAN PRIZE WINNER
M. L. Hazzard of Monrovia, who won the first prize in the subscription contest of the Los Angeles Times, is the father of I. J. Hazzard, proprietor of Fairyland Inn, who came here from Long Beach some four months ago.
The elder Hazzard receives as his award a wonderful $16,500 home in Wilshire Crest, Los Angeles. He was in the city yesterday on a brief visit. The son and other members of the family are losing no items in viewing the magnificent residence.
The winner was the first of those to step up and receive the congratulations of the campaign committee and the deeds to their prizes.
Harry Chandler, publisher of the paper, said that of the 22 subscription contests waged by the Times in the last 35 years, the present one was the most sharply fought and also the most successful.

This Ray bird is a scraper, a tough bird to beat and he will enter the ring determined to show Joe up. His failure to put Joe away last Friday evening, is a thorn in his side and he is going to remove that thorn if he possibly can.
If Joe can win by a good margin then Joe's stock in trade will take a boost of about 100%. If Joe could win by the knock out route he would find himself sought after by the Vernon and Hollywood promoters.
Last Friday's set-to was a dinger and this looks as if its going to be better. Both boys are confident of their ability to win over the other and they carry enough grudge to make them do their very best. Let's go.
