PAGE EIGHT FULLERTON DEPT. NEW STORE HOME READY BY HOLIDAYS Erection of the proposed new $15,000 Glenn furniture store at 124 W. Wilshire-ave. across the street from the new California Hotel is to begin at an early date, according to announcements from J. P. Glenn, proprietor, and Frank Benchley, architect, who is drawing plans for the building. It is hoped to have the store completed, and open for business by the end of the holiday season. Mr. Glenn opened business only a few years ago in a small galvanized iron building south of the Santa Fe tracks, and later moved to his present quarters in the bank building on Amerige-ave., and now finds this insufficient to house his business. The Sam Selig Company, one of the largest chain operation stores in the west, also plans to open a new branch in the Oswald building at 130 West Commonwealth-ave within a short time. MILLARD RE-ARRESTED L. M. Millard, arrested some time ago in Fullerton and fined $20 for speeding, and who asked and obtained time to pay his fine, and never showed up afterwards, was located and arrested again by Fullerton officers in Pomona last night. He put up bail of $50. WATER CARNIVAL SATURDAY EVENT Saturday, Sept. 9, will mean a big day for many young folks of Fullerton and Anaheim and vicinity, with the water carnival at Fullerton. Jack Kilburn, instructor at the big El Dorado Ranch plunge will be the starter. There are 100 entrants. That is the issue the city faces, as the result of the lowering of the tax rate, with the resultant slash in the city budget. Either there will be an additional bond issue, or else Fulerton will have no city hall for the present. Of that much the trustees are sure. When the new city hall plans were accepted some time ago, it was planned to raise the additional money for the enterprise from the levy of taxes, but it is now found that this will be impossible, since there are so many other things to meet. The city has from $80,000 to $90,000 on hand for the building of a new city hall, but this is not nearly sufficient to build the proposed $140,000 building. The trustees are not willing to thrust too many bond elections upon the people, lest the city finances head for the shoals, and there be no way to prevent a crash. TEACHERS IN CONFERENCE Teachers of Fullerton grammar schools met this morning to arrange for enrollment, and assignments. New teacher, Miss Alma Smith, formerly of Baker, Ore., was employed yesterday. There are two new teachers to be employed, C. A. Marcey, principal, said this morning. Fred Lamb of Los Angeles, and R. Y. Buchanan of Fullerton were arraigned this morning before Judge French at Fullerton on the charge of running with loose spotlights. They were fined $5 each. MCGEE WILL OPEN IGNITION SERVICE L. H. H. Bandy, 119 N. Olive St. Anaheim, says: "I found Doan's Kidney Pills to be a good remedy when my kidneys get out of order I had a lameness and a dull ache across my back. This made it hard for me to do any stooping or lifting. My kidneys didn't act right when I read of Doan's Kidney Pills and used them, they fixed me up in good shape and the aching left." 60c, at all dealers. Foster-Milburn Co., Mfrgs., Buffalo, N.
