ROBINSON CRUS
GOODYEAR OUTPUT
IN L. A. AT RECORD
On Friday, August 18, a new production record was reached when 4,666 tires and 5,206 tubes were turned out of the big Los Angeles factories of the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company of California, according to Nenno & Bock.
The highest previous record was made on August 12 of last year when 4,076 tires and 5,000 tubes were produced.
H. E. Blythe, superintendent of the Western Goodyear factory, in commenting on this remarkable record, says:
"Great progress in the perfection of automobile tires has followed the development and completion of laboratory apparatus that enables the tire designers to study intelligently and accurately various methods of construction and different kinds of materials.
CAVE MAN TACTICS
PROVE EXPENSIVE
Caveman tactics adopted by Frank Luck, 48, to win the woman he loved proved costly. Amorous advances of Luck met a rebuff from the woman, who was a maid at a military hospital. When she left recently for a trip Luck caught the next car. At a downtown street intersection he seized a grip from her hand and compelled her to accompany him to a hotel, she said. The couple were arrested on charges of fragrance."

Caveman tactics adopted by Frank Luck, 48, to win the woman he loved proved costly. Amorous advances of Luck met a rebuff from the woman, who was a maid at a military hospital. When she left recently for a trip Luck caught the next car. At a downstown street intersection he seized a grip from her hand and compelled her to accompany him to a hotel, she said. The couple were arrested on charges of vagrancy. Luck was fined $100. The woman was sent back to her home in Denver.
BIG CELEBRATION OF ARMISTICE DAY
Armistice Day celebration on a scale larger than ever attempted here before is contemplated by the Commanders' Council of the American Legion posts in Cincinnati and the vicinity. Plans are now being worked out to have large quantities of war material, such as machine guns and cannon captured by the American forces during the war, carried on floats at various points in the parade and afterward dedicated as permanent trophies of victory at appropriate locations in the city.
BEAR GRASS
Yucca cactus, commonly known as Spanish bayonet or bear grass in New Mexico, has been found to yield fibre equal in strength to the best hemp.
MOTOR LIFE BOAT
A motor life boat being built in England will be driven by engines of 150-horsepower and will be able to carry 150 persons, fifty of them in cabins.
