SPRING LEAF PUNCTURES TIRE
A. L. Steward, foreman of Myers' Buick Garage, punctured his tire last night with half the leaf of a front spring. He found the metal inside the tube when he took the tire off. A freakier puncture Steward never heard of, he says.

Montaya and Fur Put On Feature Contest
By Sargum Sprout
THE fight show out at the Athletic Club's arena last night was all that was expected of it and then some. The fan that missed this show misused one of the best cards ever put on in Anaheim. Action was the word all the way. Billy Darnley took last week for a vacation and Mrs. Darnley had the show in charge. Billy better go on vacations often as Mike played for the lunch basket while Dudley was shooting at the jaw. Mike shaded the first round. The second was even; the third was Dudley's and the fourth was Mike's but the judges saw differently and called it a draw.
It was a great show. There was no stalling, no unnecessary clinching to mar the entertainment. The attendance was not what it should have

Monty and Far Pat On Feature Contest
By Sargum Sprout
THE fight show out at the Athletic Club's arena last night was all that was expected of it and then some. The fan that missed this show missed one of the best cards ever put on in Anaheim. Action was the word all the way. Billy Darnley took last week for a vacation and Mrs. Darnley had the show in charge. Billy better go on vacations often as the show last evening was a whale. Frank Nell refereed and, a right good job he made of it. He kept the boys fighting all the time, though we will say that the whole bunch of mit singers were willing.
Charley Newcomb's mitt artist, Pete Pina, looked good against Johnny Nandes in the curtain raiser. Pete had Nandes worried time and again but did not know how to follow up an advantage. Nandes came off with the decision.
The second bout was the feature of the evening. Young Montoya proved that he is some ring general as well as lightning fast when he kept out of harm's way from the wickedest little fighter ever seen in action here. His name is Johnny Far and he hails from Cleveland. He may be Far from Cleveland but when it comes to fighting he is not far from right. Far chased Montoya so far that if they had been going in a straight line it would have taken a week for a radio message to have arrived back.
At that, Montoya kept the punches about even. He would jab and run which was the only thing that he could do as the Cleveland lad was too strong and knew the science of in-fighting too well for Montoya to stand up and trade punches. The draw decision was a little unfair to Far but at that he just had his aggressiveness for a margin. If Montoya improves as much in the next four months as he has in the last who will Darnley import to fight him?
The Young Terry-Bud Baker swat-fest was just as advertised. The first round was a slam bang affair with Baker on top. Bud slammed one over for a knock down and took some heavy jolts himself. The first two minutes of the second saw Bud in the lead again but he ran into one of Terry's sleep producers in the last minute and took the count of none, he came to his feet dazed and Terry put over another hay maker that laid Bud away for the evening.
Johnny McGraw was too strong for Burman, Jack hit the Long Beach boy often in his short stay but Johnny shed Jack's punches like a duck sheds water. In the middle of the second round Jack slipped something over that ruffled the beach boy's temper. Johnny tore in with a terrific right swing that crumpled Burman for the count and then some. This McGraw lad is a fighting fool.
Mike played for the lunch basket while Dudley was shooting at the jaw. Mike shaded the first round. The second was even; the third was Dudley's and the fourth was Mike's but the judges saw differently and called it a draw.
It was a great show. There was no stalling, no unnecessary clinching to mar the entertainment. The attendance was not what it should have been with such a card on tap.
