Attempting to pass, a motorist struck the wagon on which Aa Star-buck was riding Monday and threw him, injuring his leg. He is reported as improving although the injury was quite serious, it is said. La Habra friends were numbered among the guests enjoying the pretty shower given for Miss Lura Haworth in East Whittier on Saturday. The Misses Emma Howe, and Eloise Ware were co-hostesses the event taking place at the home of the former's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Howe. Miss Haworth is towed Ivan Healton, a La Habra man, in the near future. New home seekers have purchased tiles in La Habra this past week. Three of these are from Brea. J. L. Munco has purchased a lot in the Jane-yay tract on First street, Clem Grove being another buyer in this same tract while J. A. Accord purchased the W. F. Metcalf house in the Walnut Park addition. Mabel McGee made the transfers. Mrs. Agnes Campbell who recently moved to Brea from aL Habra left Tuesday for an extended trip through middle east and north. She will to Des Moines, Iowa and St. Paul, mn., and while en-route will make a northern way, stopping at Vancouver and Seattle. After a honeymoon trip to San Francisco, Mr. and Mrs. F. M. Milhous located in their new home on Whitier avenue. The couple plighted their troth on August 20. She was formerly Miss Frances Hibner of Seyour, Ind. YORBA LINDA YORBA LINDA, Aug. 30. (Spl.)—and Mrs. Ralph Thing and daughtors, left Tuesday for a two weeks camping trip in the San Bernardino mountains. Vasco Mills and daughter, Geralddale of Orchardale were visitors here Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Chauncey Eichler are visiting the Homer Bemis famat Chino Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. H. E. House plan to be Thursday for a two months valon. They will visit relatives and friends in Indiana. Mrs. C. F. Schwab and daughter, Thryn of San Bernardino, who have been visiting the E. L. Selover and mily went to Barton Flats Sunday here they will spend the next ten days at their cabin there. The local grammar school will open on Sept. 11th. The teaching aff has been completed as follows: Ms. Mabel Paine, principal; Miss ina Van Buskirk of Los Angeles, h grande; Miss Jane McNally of mg Beach, 6th grade; Miss May E. iller of Huntington Park 5th grade; Ms Dessa Jepson, 3rd and 4th grade; iss Isabelle Helm 2nd grade; Miss ta Snedicor 1st, grade, and Miss ma Thomas, kindergarten. Of these teachers, Mrs. Paine has taught here principal for five years, but has had a two years' rest, Miss Jepson to taught here two or three years and Miss Snedicor, Miss Thomas and Miss Helm, all were here last ar, and will be welcomed again. Roy Neal, son of Rev. Neal who has been quite ill in a Los Angeles capital was able to be brought home tuesday. Mr. Anderson of the Alexander and oben staff, was host to a party of ends at the beach Sunday. Miss Esther Sparks of Rose Drive, nghtter of Mr. and Mrs. P. M. marks, was honoree at a shower on day afternoon at the home of a bsin in Santa Ana. Miss Sparks is become a bride soon and she reved a large number of beautiful ts that she will appreciate in the w home.
