LOCAL GIRL WEDS
ARIZONA MAN IN
PARENTS' HOME
At a very quiet and impressive wedding ceremony performed at the bride's home on So. Philadelphia st., Saturday evening at 8:30, Miss Agnes Mills became the bride of Irving Roberts of Arizona. The wedding rites were read by the Rev. Coe Wellman.
The couple was attended by Miss Florence Murch, intimate friend of the bride, and Howard Mills, brother of the bride. The ceremony was performed in the presence of relatives of principals and most intimate friends.
The bride wore a handsome creation of cream color silk with satin trimmings and carried a shower boquet.
Mrs. Roberts has been teaching in Arizona for the past few years and comes to Anaheim to spend the summer with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Mills.
After a short visit in Anaheim they will go to Arizona, where they will make their home.
Meet Mr. Gilmore, Junior
Press dispatches tell that the Ford auto manufacturing plants in Detroit will close Sept. 16, and the Plain Dealer can announce the reason. A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. D. D. Gilmore, of 251 So. Lemon-st., this morning at 3:45, and as Mr. Gilmore is foreman of the machine shop in the local Dunton Ford agency, the eastern employees are anxious to meet the young chap. He weighs 7½ pounds and is going to be a bass singer in the local Baptist Church after awhile, as his mother was prominent in her home church, Longmont, Colo.

Return from Mountain Trip
J. M. McDuell and sons, Robert, Joseph and John went to Idyllwild yesterday to pass the week-end in the mountain resort with Mrs. McDuell and little daughter, who have been there for a week. They will all return home this evening.

Guest at Chicken Dinner
Mr. and Mrs Lee Jones entertained yesterday with a chicken dinner at their pleasant home on Ballard. The guests arrived after church was over and remained through the afternoon.
The guest list included Rev. and Mrs. L. L. Myers and family, Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Mayhew, Miss Ethel Harling, niece of Mrs. Mayhew, and Mr. and Mrs. F. N. Ballou and daughters. The Ballous, however, were unable to be present owing to illness in the family.
Eastern Relatives at Smith's
Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Smith entertained relatives Saturday afternoon. They were Mr. and Mrs. J. D. McMahan, of Topeka, Kansas, who are passing several weeks in So., Cal., and a cousin, Mrs. Ida Culver, of San Diego. Memories and pleasantries occurring in the old eastern home made an interesting topic of conversation during the greater portion of the visit.
Cynthia Shepherd, Francis Shepherd, Nell Robertson, Marie Robertson, Reva Hawkins, Dorothy King, Donald Wents, Leo Drake, Cecil Strawn, Harold Williamson, James Gardener and Mrs. Gardener spent last week at Big Bear Lake.

INVITATIONS were issued this morning by Mr. and Mrs. A. F.
Withee to the marriage of their daughter, Hazel Irene, to William Clifton Carle on Tuesday, Sept. 5, at 8 o'clock in the evening at the Withee home, 903 E. Center-st. Friends to the number of 50 have been invited.
Miss Withee is a very popular Anaheim girl and has been the recipient of several pretty affairs in compliment to the coming event. She has been a resident of Anaheim for several years, coming here with her parents from Dakota. She is a graduate of Anaheim Union High School, and has been a successful business girl. She resigned her position with the Anaheim Ignition Depot, July 1, to arrange for her duties on the "new job."
Dinner for Brothers
The birthdays of W. L. Morningstar and J. H. Morningstar were on the dates of Aug. 27 and Aug. 30. To celebrate these important events, Mr. and Mrs. J. D Coykendall entertained the families at Sunday dinner. The table was dainty indeed with its pink and blue decorations and the two birthday cakes complimented both honorees.
The dinner was served at 6 o'clock, covers being placed for Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Morningstar and son, Willard; W. L. Morningstar, S. G. Morningstar, Miss Tillie Morningstar, Mr. C. E. Diessenbaugh and Mr. and Mrs. Coykerdall.
Visiting and music gave much pleasure after dinner and the day closed as one of the most pleasant kind, despite the warmth.
James Cohn is planning to purchase a house in the Elks Park tract.
Miss Mildred Stolrker was a guest of Miss Edna Walberg on day last week.
New patients at the local sanitarium inlude: Mrs. Julia Alex, Placentia; Miss Nellie Arley, Fullerton; Mrs. W. R. Reid, Santa Ana; F. B. Jones, Buena Park.
A 6½ pound son was born at "The Retreat" to Mr. and Mrs. John M. Hinds, of Huntington Beach. He will be called J. Martin Hinds.
Miss Helen Johnson, who was recently employed at the Modern Gas Appliances, left yesterday to return to her home in St. Louis.
Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Smith and daughters, and Mr. and Mrs. Austin Marshburn, of Yorba Linda, were in Huntington Beach for the day yesterday.
Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Ward drove to Los Angeles yesterday where they passed the day with friends.
Mr. and Mrs. H. Hunt and Mr. and Mrs. C. D. Gorbam passed the week at Newport Beach, enjoying the cool breezes and dips in the surf.
Mrs. Nora Crowley and children, of Garden Grove, and Dr. and Mrs. Peshong, of Venice, greeted friends as they passed through Anaheim yesterday on their way to Orange-co park. The Crowleys lived in Anaheim until a few weeks ago.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Mitchell and children, Mabel and Lawrence, who have been enjoying five weeks at Seal Beach, have returned home. Mr. Mitchell's two weeks vacation were spent at the resort, the-remainder of the time he made week-end trips.
Rev. A. Markle is again confined to his home with illness.

Weds Saturday Night
The marriage of Miss Myrtle Law to Roy Handy, of Villa Park, occurred Saturday evening at the Handy home, Rev. L. Potter Hitchcock performing the ceremony. Their home will be made on a ranch in Villa Park after they return from a short honeymoon. As Miss Law, the bride was honored with several nice social courtesies, among them a showed given by Miss Hoyle in Santa Ana, last week when she was presented with many lovely and usetul articles.
Girls in Afternoon Together
Miss Faye Bailou was hostess yesterday afternoon to a trio of girl friends, the Misses Esther Hile, of near Olive; Magdelene Fischer and Bernice Gregory, both of Anaheim. The time was passed pleasantly, as girls will, and cooling refreshments added to the enjoyment.
Attend Ohio Picnic
Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Bell, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Hapgood and children and Mrs. Estella Hapgood passed the day in Bixby Park, Long Beach, Saturday, at the reunion and summer picnic. They met many of their native state friends and old-time acquaintances and passed a thoroughly happy day.
Sunday in Catalina
Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Martin spent yesterday in Catalina and last evening in Long Beach. They greatly enjoyed the trip in the glass bottom boat over the submarine gardens, where the wonders of the deep are clearly visible.
Pleasant Motor Trip
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Watson and small daughter, with Mr. and Mrs. Welcome M. Ward as their guests, motored to Long Beach and San Pedro yesterday afternoon. On their return they stopped at Long Beach for dinner. The trip was made in Mr. Watson's new Studebaker semi-sport tour car.
SANTA ANA LICENSES
SANTA ANA, Aug. 28.-Marriage
Rev. and Mrs. Nickles will conclude their residence in Anaheim this week as they return to The School of Christianity, in Los Angeles, to take up their winter's work. They will give a duet at prayer meeting Wednesday evening as a final treat, both being talented vocalists.
Ralph and Raymond Plummer of Hollywood were the week-end guests of Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Bowen.
Mrs. Fanny Branch, Mrs. Johnson of Venice and Mrs. Saylor of Los Angeles were recent visitors of Mrs. H. Bowen.
Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Dugdale and two children and Mrs. Jack Blair and two children have returned from a two weeks outing at Laguna Beach.
Misses Clara Heinze and Edyta Hayward left Sunday for Twin Peaks where they will spend the week.
Mr. and Mrs. Hugo Schulz (nee Faye Kern) returned home Saturday after a honeymoon tour spent at Big Bear Lake.
Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Bowen were Laguna Beach visitors yesterday.

Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Crawford returned yesterday from San Francisco where they visited relatives for a week. The journey was made in their automobile, and the weather was of most delightful kind.
Mr. and Mrs. Victor Hugo Schulz returned Saturday from a few days passed at Big Bear.
Miss Alice Grimshaw has returned from two weeks visit in Berkeley with Mr. and Mrs. Fred G. Athern. She enjoyed several sightseeing and enjoyable time.
Mr. and Mrs. M. Eugene Durfee left Saturday on the S. S. Harvard for a few days in San Francisco. While primarily a business trip, it will be also in the nature of a celebration of their wedding anniversary.

NEWEST FASHIONS
Back from Long Vacation
Mrs. Marguerite Thomas has returned from a seven weeks' vacation passed in the north and intermediate points. Mrs. Thomas left July 15 by auto with friends, going to Seattle, the home of her parents and her brother. From there she made trips to Vancouver, B. C., and Victoria. The last few days of her visit were made more enjoyable by the presence of Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Humphrey, who also were guests of Mrs. Thomas' parents. Returning she stopped in Portland, Ore. to visit school friends with whom she had graduated. San Francisco was included in her itinerary also. Arriving home much refreshed from her pleasant trip and is again taking up her duties as organist in the California and Grand theatres.
Pass Day at Shaw Home
An auto party of friends from Pasadent drove to the home of Mr. and Mrs. George Shaw yesterday morning, Miss Marguerite Shaw, the 10-year-old daughter returning with them from a week's visit. The party consisted of Mr. and Mrs. William Chapman, Sr. and children, Keziah and Harold; Mr. and Mrs. William Chapman, Jr., daughter Ruth and baby son. They were planning a day at the beach, but were induced to remain with the Shaws and were joined by Mrs. Edith Clark and Mr. and Mrs. Tom Losey later in the day.
A picnic luncheon was spread and everybody thoroughly enjoyed the day at the Shaw home quite as much as possible at the beach.
