RAIL PARLEY AT CRITICAL POINT
NEW YORK, Aug. 25.—Negotiations for settlement of the railroad shopmen's strike reached a crisis today.
Before night it is expected the road to peace will be cleared or the effects of the "Big Four" brotherhoods to end the strike will have failed.
Another effort at settlement was to be made by the brotherhood mediators this morning. They are making frequent trips back and forth between the headquarters of the rail executives at the Yale club and the strikers' headquarters at the Woodstock Hotel.
Twenty railroads are represented in the present peace effort. If they reach an agreement it is expected other roads will follow suit and that the agreement will be accepted by more and more lines until peace is gradually restored, as in the coal strike.
Yorba News Items
YORBA, Aug. 26.—R. B. Watson and family of Yucalpa were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. O. J. Stanbro, Sunday. This being the first visit paid us by Mr. Watson. It is to be remembered that Mr. Watson was formerly a resident of Yorba. Having been employed by the late J. A. Poteet, for several years. During their day's visit Miss Cella Watson paid a short call on the Misses Neillie and Francis Shepherd of Yorba Linda.
Mrs. A. Boyles has returned to her home after a pleasant sojourn at Ocean Park, Mrs. Boyes reports her mother to be in quite poor health. Let us hope for her speedy recovery.
Earl Stanbro of this place is the proud possessor of a brand new "Flivver" coupe. Better not step on her too heavy Earl until the new wears off.

RADIOPSONE GIVES BURBANK THRILL
SANTA ROSA, Aug. 25—The radio craze has even struck Lutherton Burbank, plant wizard, who admits that he's a bit old-fashioned in most things.
Burbank recently gave an address by radio to the crowds assembled to celebrate the egg festival at Petaluma.
Burbank talked on the importance of the egg industry and of the fitness of the celebration.
When he got though he admitted that he got a great "kick" out of the innovation—only being a bit old fashioned, he didn't call it a "kick," but a "thrill."
