Thursday, August 24, 1922 News of Fullerton CONTRACT AWARDED FOR $60,000 PLANT Bids for the erection of a heating plant at the Fullerton H. S. are to be opened this afternoon at a meeting of H. S. directors. The improvement is expected to approximate about $60,000. CAMPAIGNS FOR HUSBAND Mrs. Jack Millan, wife of the San Diego candidate for the Republican nomination for state treasurer, was in Fullerton yesterday campaigning in behalf of her husband, and was in conference with Ralph G. Rohrer, president of the Fullerton Millan-for-treasurer club. Mrs. Millan is just finishing a state campaigning tour in behalf of her husband, against whom, she states, unfounded attacks have been made relatives to his service during the Spanish war. He served during the Filipino war, and was honorably discharged after he had received injuries permanently disabling him, she said, and gave proof for her statements. SEALE BUYS RESIDENCE J. E. Seale has purchased thru the Oglesby Realty Co., the lot and five-room house at the corner of Poma-ave and Ellis-pl, across from the high school, the consideration being $5,500 cash. George Osborne of Fullerton underwent an operation at the Fullerton hospital this morning. Mr. Beal of Whittler underwent an operation yesterday morning at the Fullerton hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Tracy and Mr. and Mrs. Dysinger of the Fullerton high school are spending a few days at Arrowhead Lake. BARNEY HARTFIELD VISITS FULLERTON Barney Hartfield of Anaheim was arraigned before Judge French in the Fullerton police court yesterday afternoon on the charge of cutting the button, and fined $10. F. B. Payne, charged with running with a loose spotlight, was fined $5. Miss Minnie Maxwell, Fullerton librarian, who has been absent for the past month, spending her vacation at Glenn Ranch, is expected to return Monday. Mr. and Mrs. John Merrill of Placentia are the proud parents of a new baby girl who came this morning at the Fullerton hospital. James Maxwell Kirker of Fullerton has left for a three months' visit in Hawaii. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Hunt left last night over the Santa Fe for Kansas City. Mrs. M. Gibson left last night over the Santa Fe for Kansas City. E. J. Marks left this week for a business trip to Chicago. Several Presbyterians from Fullerton attended the Presbyterian picnic at the Orange-co park this week. About 200 people in all were present. The regular band concert is to be held tonight at the Fullerton city park. An unusual program has been arranged. Cecil Lynch, recently employed at the Boling Grocery, has resigned his position to return to Oklahoma to go to college. He has been succeeded by R. J. Taylor. Salisbury, was injured yesterday when he fell from a scafford at the new Kraemer-bldg. is recovering nicely at his home, it was learned today from Dr. J. W. Truraw. Helen Trammel, 2, and Dan Trammell, 5, were saved by the prompt action of their father, call-ambulance driver for the City Hospital. He received a call that Dan had been bitten while picking flowers; rushed out and got the boy and sped with him to the hospital. When he go there another call had been received saying that little Helen, in the excitement following her brother's mishap, had toddled out in the yard and picked up the snake, receiving he fangs in her hand. The father made another record run and brought the baby to share the operating table with her brother. They are recoving from the venom. GET ACQUAINTED WITH C. C. SEC'Y A special meeting of the Merchants Committee of the Fullerton B. of T. has been called for tonight at 7:30 o'clock for the purpose of "getting acquainted" with G. A. Raymer, the new permanent secretary of the board of trade, who has just arrived this week from Reno, Nev., where he has been secretary of the Reno Comperial club, and was also Rotary organizer and advertising agent for the great inland empire of East Washington, and western Idaho. The meeting has been called by E. I. Fuller, chairman of the committee, and Mr. Fuller urges every business man to be present. Mr. Raymer has pleaded himself to do his best.
