THE ORANGE
EACH BOXING CARD CONTINUES TO BE BIG IMPROVEMENT
By Sargum Sprout.
Billy Darnley announced at the wrestling match the other night that he was going to have a good show out at the fight arena last night. If Billy would have known just how good his show was going to be he could have announced one of the best fight cards ever held in Anaheim.
It was one of those fast affairs with every bout crammed with action; action that at times had the boys standing on their hind legs barking like wild Indians.
In the curtain raiser Johnny Mandel, subbing for Johnny Alexander, battled Young Herrera to a draw. For a curtain raiser this bout was crane full of action.
The second bout brought on that bit of human dynamite, Art Espinosa and Tommy White, who preferred to act as a swat sponge under the name of Pud Reber. Pud is a good commencer. He danced around Art and gave him a nice little boxing lesson for the first minute, when, zowiel Art sent one in that took all the pep out of Mr. Reber. A few seconds later Art got one over for a knockdown. Reber got up only to be knocked down again. The bell ushered in a slight recess in the slaughter of the innocent. In the second, Art went out to finish his man and he did. After several knock-downs, Referee Billy Darnley came to the conclusion that Pud had sponged up all the punches he could carry, so the bout was given to Espinosa on a technical knockout.
The way Espinosa has been going in his last two attempts, the woods will have to be combed thoroughly to find a foe worthy to interest him. Art packs a bit of lead in each mit and when he lands one or two the other fellow just naturally slows up.
About the fastest bit of heavy punching seen in these parts was pulled off by Babe Orton and Johnny McGraw. Babe sent in enough sleep producers to have stopped four or five ordinary boys, but McGraw is not ordinary. Mac just kept slugging

About the fastest bit of heavy punching seen in these parts was pulled off by Babe Orton and Johnny McGraw. Babe sent in enough sleep producers to have stopped four or five ordinary boys, but McGraw is not ordinary. Mac just kept slugging away about on even terms till the fourth, when he got through and rocked the Indian with a fusilade of punches that all but had Babe out. This last round spurt gave Johnny the bacon.
The semi-windup was the prettiest exhibition of the timing of punches seen here in many a moon. Allan Ray, subbing for Eddie Randall, gave the blonde Herb Ryan much to think about. Ray did the leading all the way, and a draw decision would not have been amiss, but Ryan was given the honors. We'll say these birds know when to start a punch to make it land to the best advantage.
Clever Ted Levin, of Los Angeles, was outclassed in this Martin from Tacoma. Martin is a clever bird. His felt jab kept Ted making faces all the time. Danny's left jab is a swift article. Neither Ted or Ad Ruhdoux can block it. Danny seems to be able to land it at will. Danny is not a one-fisted fighter by any means, his right has about as much speed as the left and carries more kick. Leven is fast and clever, but he just conjoined not break through with that left always in his face.
It was some card. Each show is better than the last. Billy Darnley has been very fortunate in his last three cards, and here is hoping his luck stays by him.
ANAHEIM NO. ONES
WIN TWO IN THREE
Anaheim No. Ones went to Santa Monica last night and grabbed two in three from the seasiders in the locale next to last game of the So. Cal Elks Bowling league. Altho the local Bills took two games, their total pins did not equal that of Santa Monica.
Anaheim No. Twos, for the first time this season, dropped three straight, Long Beach proving too much. It was the last appearance for the local No. Twos. Anaheim No. Ones windup next Friday evening on the local alleys with Pasadena.
The lineup that will represent Anaheim in the Calif. Elks Bowling sweepstakes at the state convention at Santa Monica was announced today as Fritz Yoern, captain, Efker, Dugas, Johnson and Evans.
Local bowling fans believed this aggregation should make a good
Anaheim May Well Be of Place in Sport W
THERE is a peculiar condition existing in and about Anaheim is noted for its boosters. They will go the limit to 'boo climate and the agricultural possibilities but some of those overlook a big field, that of sports.
There is a goodly number that have not awakened to the fact that Anaheim is the home of one of the great wrestlers of the world, good enough to compete for the world's championship.
There are any number that do not know that Anaheim has some very good young boxers, boys that with proper handling and experience will write their names in the hall of fame.
A great many fail to realize that Anaheim is supporting the best semi-professional ball team on the coast. That team now holds the state championship of the Elks league, and in off season has played and defeated the strongest independent teams of the state.
The ten pin artists have proven time and again that they are among the best.
From the local schools has developed some very good track men, who have written their names on the honor roll. Such men as Cyral Tipton, Buck Beebe, Harold Shoebridge and many others are not to be sneezed at.
It is about time that some of the good people were waking up to the fact that Anaheim is cutting some ice in the sporting world. The men behind these sport ventures are not kicking, for they are getting the support of a great band of loyal fans, but there are some who are overlook-

ING in and about Anaheim. Anaheim I go the limit to 'boost' business, abilities but some of those best 'boost-orts.
ING a good bet. It is not to the fans that this article is written; it is to those who would be if the true situation were realized.
Wrestling has fallen under a ban all over the country on account of trickiness. In Anaheim there has not been the least shadow on any match. It has been the cleanest and fairest of wrestling. Out to the fight emporium the same true clean sportsmanship prevails. All know that the ball team is made up of high class boys who would not stoop to anything not of the cleanest and fairest.
Anaheim can well be proud of her different fields of sport, and by golly we do not have to be afraid to boost for we are there with the best of them.
