WELL ROUNDED OUT
CARD FRIDAY NIGHT
A card that promises everything from soup to nuts, Matchmaker Billy Darnley says he is going to dish up to his faithful fight fans tomorrow night, down at the Athletic Club's arena on the sugar factory grounds. Each bout, from the curtain raiser to the main event, looks like it might be a feature in itself for there is some mighty good fighting material signed up and action is the one word being banked upon.
The main attraction will bring together those two good little fellows, Danny Martin and Ted Levin. It should be about the fastest affair of its kind ever pulled off hereabouts. Both lads are extremely fast and clever and besides, each has a good healthy wallop in both mitts. Martin's recent set-to here with that very good boy, Ad Rubidoux, and whom he held to a fast draw, stamps him along with the best of his weight now boxing on the coast. He made a hit with local bugs on his first appearance here and they no doubt will welcome his return. He will have a hard contract on Ted Levin as Ted in four-round game. "SHUFFLIN PHIL"
BLAMES MGR M'GRAW
PITTSBURG, Aug. 17.—"Shufflin'
Phil" Douglas, famous pitcher, lays
the blame for his permanent disbarment from organized baseball at the
door of John J. McGraw, flery manager of the Giants.
"I never threw a game in my life,"
Douglas said today, "and McGraw
knows me well enough to know that
I never would do such a thing."
Douglas was found in his room in
the Schenley hotel here waiting for
someone to "lend him enough jack"
to leave the city.
"What makes me so mad, said
Douglas, 'is that Mac won't even
give me my pay. I don't know how
I'm going to get out of here unless
I get some money and I'm ashamed
to wire my wife."

GIANT PITCHER'S WIFE PROSTRATED
NEW YORK, Aug. 17.—Prostrated by the shock of her husband's downfall, Mrs. Louise Douglas, wife of "Shuffin' Phil" Douglas, the pitcher suspended from organized baseball, was confined to her bed in her home here today. "Phil certainly must have been on a spree to have gotten himself into such a terrible fix," she said. "I cannot understand it at all. When the White Sox scandal broke three years ago he was most bitter in denouncing the players."
