Tuesday, July 25, 1922 FASHION DEMANDS MONKEY FUR NEW YORK, July 25.—The dictates of fashion have exerted a strong demand for black and white Absymian monkey skins to be used for trimmings, particularly in Paris. The supply of skins is very limited and not more than fifteen to twenty thousand can be obtained in a year, says Consul Cross at Aden, Arabia, in a report to the textile division of the department of commerce, without unduly raising prices and exterminating the monkey. NOISY GREETING FOR MOVIE CZAR LOS ANGELES, July 25.—Motion picture studios of Los Angeles and vicinity gave Will H. Hays, "czar of the movies," a noisy and colorful greeting as he visited them today for the first time. Everywhere he was greeted by great crowds and in many cases a majority of those who pressed about him were in the more or less fanciful costumes they were using "on the sets." KU KLUX CANDIDATE LEADS NOMINATIONS DALLAS, Tex., July 25.—Earl By Mayfield, champion of the Ku Klux Klan, was leading in the Democratic race for nomination for United States senator in returns from Saturday's primary by 25,000. Returns from 234 of 250 counties gave Mayfield 93,557; James E. Ferguson, 68,196 and Charles A. Culberson, 59,743. The latter two are anti-klan candidates. ACTOR'S WIFE HELD AS WITNESS MT. HOLLY, N.J., July 25 — Mary Miller pretty wife of Guy Miller, St. Louis actor, is held as a material witness in connection with the shooting of J. T. Brunen, circus detective Parker refused to divulge information she gave Mrs. Doris Brunen, the mans' widow, and her brother, Harry Mohr, are charged with murder in connection with Brunen's death.
