GENEROUS AMOUNT HEADS LIST FOR CALVARY CHURCH WITH a subscription of $250 leading the list on the building fund and seventy-five of the desired one hundred members to start with Calvary Baptist church is complimenting itself on the rapid strides it has made in Anaheim during the past month or six weeks in the organization campaign. Meetings are held each Sunday in the 1. O. O. F. hall, services yesterday being in charge of Rev. H. B. Paskett, who has been elected temporary supply pastor. Rev. Paskett will also be in charge of the Wednesday evening prayer services held in the Spanish Mission church. He again will occupy the pulpit next Sunday. All the services yesterday were enthusiastic and interesting. In the morning R. J. Ohlund, who had charge of the music, sang a solo, "All Alone," which greatly pleased the congregation. The solo in the evening by H. H. Knox, leader of the evening music, was also excellently given. There are many persons who will become members of the church in a short time, either through baptism or by letter and the future of the organization with an edifice as one of the incentives to work, is assured. Attend E. L. Institute With one of the best chaperones in the district, Mrs. W. B. Allen, several auto loads of Epworth Leaguers started today to the Pacific Palisades to attend the league institute of the will be in session for a week. Others will go later for several days. They have secured tents and will keep house in the comfortable and interesting manner of an outing. Home After Eastern Visit Mr. J. E. Coyner, of Kroeger St., returned to Anaheim Saturday afternoon, feeling that his home town is the best place he can find in the great United States. Mr. Coyner left June 19 on a visit to his old home in Greenfield, Ohio, making the journey over the Santa Fe. En route he visited in Illinois, Ohio and western Nebraska and the Yellowstone park. He found the middle west in a flourishing condition about the agricultural regions, although there had been considerable rain in his native state. The people there seem greatly interested in California, and perhaps, because he was called upon to tell so often of the wonders of the state, he realized its worth all the more. Mr. Coyner has lived in the great state more than 33 years, but has made many trips "back home"; and while he never loves Ohio less, he loves California more. Making Long Auto Tour Mr. and Mrs. A. D. Nolan and little son, Audlin Daun, arrived in Anaheim yesterday for a short visit with Mrs. Nolan's parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. Ricka. After a short visit here they will leave for the north for the opening of the deer season in the forest reserves. They will also tour the Sequoia and Yosemite National parks, with a trip to San Francisco, then on to Portland, Ore. Mr. and Mrs. Nolan plan to be absent from their home about two months. Mr. Nolan is a prominent Imperial Valley rancher and grain man, and a director of the Farm Bureau Exchange. He is also a typical Nimrod, never failing to bring in a fat catch for breakfast. B. Hartfield, Ed. Schneider and Lee Eicholz compose the local committee on athletics and are arranging a dandy program of contests and amusing stunts. Dancing, of course, will feature the day, and all kinds of promises are being made as to the banquet, which is under the careful eye of Willis K. Duffy, steward of the Santa Ana Elks club. It is estimated that the attendance will be one hundred per cent. Returns From Vacation Miss Stella Schwentker is again greeting her music classes after a two weeks vacation in Big Bear and other points of interest. Miss Carrie Schwentker and Dr. and Mrs. J. O. Schwentker were other members of the party. The thunderstorm which happened during their outing was a little disturbing to the party, although they enjoyed its grandeur. They participated in the many pleasures of the resort, among them boating, hiking, fishing and the pleasant social evening affairs. Postpone Party The beach party planned by the Sunshine Philathea for Anaheim Landing tomorrow night has been indefinitely postponed.
