ART ESPINOSA SETS
FANS COO-COO AT
ARENA’S BEST BILL
By Sargum Sprout
The fight fans who attended the historic convention at the Athletic club’s arena last night are still woozy this morning from the doings of the ten athletes who took part in the affair. It was the greatest card yet staged by the club.
It was that clever lad Art Espinosa that set the fans coo-coo. This bout alone was worth the price of admission.
The curtain raiser saw Tony Ross of Anaheim and Jimmy Ray of L.A., in action and it was some action. Jimmy was the stronger and more experienced of the two, but man, he needed both. Tony is some tough bird and gave the L.A. boy much to worry about.
The second event brought on Art Espinosa and Thad Warsaw, the colored warrior of Covina, with their coo-coo producing stuff. Warsaw led off with a clean knockdown. Art shook the birdies from out his whirling brains and took the count of nine then he rose to his feet and, man, he hit that colored lad with every thing but the ring posts and would have used them but they were anchored down.
At the bell the Covina lad was hanging onto anything in sight.
Warsaw came back strong in the second and about held things even in that round.
In the third Art was away in the lead in a slugging match, and all but had the darky out in the fourth. We say she was some bout.
The third event was the only tame spot in the evenings entertainment. Bobby Gray of La Habra was subbing for Bud Baker who failed to make an appearance, in the bout with Al Fredericks of Delhi. After a minute of shimming and tapping Darnley stopped the bout long enough to explain to the boys that they were supposed to fight. The good advice did not speed matters up much. Fredericks pulled many wild swings, which failed to land and Gray tapped until the last two minutes when Gray stepped in and mixed a few punches. Fredericks got the decision.

Texas Jack Burman proved a much better boy than he appeared to be at the start of the semi-wind up. Joe Choney fought his usual steady, clever fight and bested the Texas lad most of the way and had him almost out at the close.
Ad Rubidoux ran into a whole peck of trouble in the main event, said neck of trouble being the left fist of clever Danny Martin of Tacoma. Ad was the aggressor all the way but try as he would that left fist kept packing away at his face. Ad slipped a few punches through that shook the good ship Martin from stern to stern but it always righted and was under full sail at the close.
Martin is a two fisted fighter with a great defense. He draw decision was the only verdict. These two boys should pack the old arena in a return.
All in all it was a great evening.

Lexington Has Good Recovery Value, Claim
Every car becomes a used car after a week's service or less. Therefore, says T. L. DeCew, distributor for the Lexington, you had better choose a car which is really durable and has a good recovery value. A really durable car costs less to keep up, also.
A car with a good chassis is a good car, says DeCew. The chassis is nine tenths of the car.
DeCew has completely stripped a Lexington touring so you can take a look at practically every part. Here is a car with a frame re-enforced like a cantilever bridge, with an Anstead motor supported on wooden beams so that the vibration can't enter it.
Ford Car Goes 300 Miles on Quart Oil
It's 28 or 29 miles to Laguna Beach, according to the automobile clubs. Recently a Ford—not a new one, but one in good condition mechanically—did the round trip on one and three-quarters gallon of gas. The trip included a considerable amount of driving up the Cliff road and back again, on which low has to be used at times, because a flying start is impossible, to say nothing about the grades.
This same Ford fan drove nearly 300 miles on a quart of good oil, but admitted that this was not the usual thing with him.
"Many people don't realize that with a small expenditure to have valves cleaned, spark plugs fixed up or replaced, carburetor adjusted properly, friction reduced by proper lubrication, etc., they can considerably cut their gas and oil expense," said George Dunton, when this fan told him of his experience. The fan in question has been driving a Ford for some time, but hadn't paid particular attention to the problem as such of cutting these two items of operation cost.
Anaheim Attorney Likes His Jordan
Here is another testimonial letter on the Jordan:
"J. E. Walter Co.",
"Anaheim, Calif."
Gentlemen:
"I am only too glad to write you in regard to my impression of the Jordan Motor car.
"I have been driving the Jordan now for nearly ten months and to say it has given satisfactory service is not doing the car full justice. I have owned during the last eight years in the neighborhood of ten different automobiles and I can unhesitatingly say that the Jordan has been the most satisfactory and efficient car that I have ever owned. So far I have had little or no trouble except minor troubles with which every car is afflicted."

PAINS SO BAD WOULD GO TO BED
Two Women Tell How Lydia E. Pinkham's Vegetable Compound Stopped Their Suffering
Iron Mountain, Mich.—"I had terrible pains every month and at times had to go to bed on account of them. I saw your advertisement and took Lydia E. Pinkham's Vegetable Compound with very good results. I can work all day long now at my sick time. You may use these facts as testimonial and I am recommending the Vegetable Compound to my friends."—Mrs. A. H. GARLAND, 218 E. Brown St., Iron Mountain, Michigan.
Xenia, Ohio.—"Every month I had such pains in my back and lower part of my abdomen that I could not lie quietly in bed. I suffered for about five years that way and I was not regular either. I read an advertisement of what Lydia E. Pinkham's Vegetable Compound had done for other women, so I decided to try it. Surely has helped me a lot, as I have no pains now and am regular and feeling fine."—Mrs. MARY DALE, Route 7, Xenia, Ohio.
Lydia E. Pinkham's Vegetable Compound is a medicine for women's ailments. It is especially adapted to relieve women. If you suffer as did Mrs. Garland or Mrs. Dale, you should give this well-known medicine a thorough trial.

Reo Business Coupe
Fine All-Weather Car
Just a few features of the Reo business coupe, one of the new creations of the company: Essentially businesslike is this latest Reo innovation, so that its name—"Business Coupe"—describes both its purpose and appearance. A coupe is convenient but not sufficiently "democratic" for routine service. A roadster answers the purpose in fair weather, but is uncomfortable during inclement weather. The Business Coupe is a happy combination of the desirable features of the two. It's the car where comfort, convenience and utility are on equal terms. The wide, deep seat, which holds three people, is upholstered in long grain leather. Behind the seat back are two package compartments, which are convenient for portfolios, blue-prints, and other parcels. The usual spacious luggage compartment is in the rear deck. Lower half of the body is Burgundy, upper half black.

reater Value at Lower Cost
The Essex has always been an outstanding value by every standard of price and quality comparison.
Especially interesting now is a price to price measurement of the Essex against cars you have regarded as comparable to it in quality.
Will you find today any car that even approaches Essex in quality and ability, within hundreds of dollars of its cost?
And doesn’t its low cost with such quality appeal to judicious buyers, whether they are considering a car slightly less in cost; or have been seeking Essex quality in some much costlier car?
