ORPHEUM BILL AT CALIFORNIA THURS.
There are certain trademarks known throughout the world as standing for the very best in whatever line they represent. When this trademark is shown on any piece of goods, the public has found out after years of study and use that it is the utmost.
This is so with Orpheum vaudeville. Representing the largest circuit of high class theatres in the world, the acts from this district are naturally rated as the best to be found anywhere. This is as well known in Anaheim as in any city where the Orpheum actually has a theatre.
However, it is the good fortune of the California theatre management to present a bill of vaudeville this week which is made up almost entirely of Orpheum acts. This program opens at that popular playhouse tomorrow afternoon, and will remain in this city but one day.
Take for instance the following line-up of vaudeville offerings: "The Wonder Girl" will positively prove a sensation in this city. Nothing like her act has ever been shown here. She is a diminutive miss who performs unbelievably on a single strand of rope, high above spectators' heads. Dressed in pure white costume that displays her wonderful figure to advantage, she gyrates on this wire much to the astonishment of the onlookers. It is one of the costliest acts in vaudeville today.
Goodall and Sedley, the original "flippers," are a treat to behold. They will provide unlimited entertainment during their stay here. Cliff Clark, so well known to Orpheum theatre goers, will be here with his riotous act. He is a positive scream. That is what the people of today are looking for—sensations.
La Verne, the noted acrobatic thriller, will present one of the most daring exhibitions ever staged here. A truly great novelty. Good old Billy McCall, the great topliner, who comes to Anaheim fresh from big time successes is an extremely witty person.
OLDEST AT WESLYAN UNIVERSITY REUNION
Former Senator Cornelius Coe, whose 100 years make him Wesleyan University's oldest alumnus, arrived in Middletown, Conn., from the West looking for excitement. This spry young college lad made the trip from California accompanied by his grandson and said he felt fine after the trip. He was born at Lodi, N. Y., when Monroe was President, and was graduated from Wesleyan in 1847. Senator Cole was active in the passage of anti-Slavery legislation and recalls frequent conferences with President Lincoln in Civil War days.

YORBA LINDA
Yorba Linda, July 5.—(Spl.) A number from here attended the announcement party given by Miss Grace Kaub at Whittier, honoring her cousin, Miss Edith Kaub of this place, on Friday afternoon. An abundance of beautiful sweet peas and roses made the rooms fragrant. The manner of announcing Miss Kaub's engagement was very cleverly carried out. A cob-web of silver cord was unwound by four of the party who held the lucky numbers. Each of the first three led to a whistle, a bag of rice and an old shoe. The fourth was lengthier and excitement was high when it finally ended at a heart with the picture of Miss Kaub and Herbert Wersham and the date of July 26th. The guests then hemmed tea towels for the bride-to-be and dainty refreshments were served at the dining table where the color scheme of pink was effectively carried out. Miss Kaub is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E., Kaub of this place and has resided here for a number of years. Mr. Worsham formerly lived here but was transferred from the local oil fields to the beach some time ago.
