ST. MARY'S PLANS PAROCHIAL SCHOOL
Committees were appointed yesterday at St. Mary's Catholic church in Fullerton to go over final plans for a new parochial school in conjunction with the new parish and new church building planned on West Common wealth-ave. The total expense of the improvements will be about $50,000.
The school would cost between $25,000 and $30,000, according to Rev. J. H. Prenderville, rector of the church. He states that the building is to be modern in every detail, and will be a big asset to Fullerton since it is stated, many Catholics would come to the city to make their home there if there were a parochial school in the city.
After the plans have met the approval of the committee they must be approved by Bishop Cantwell, bishop of the diocese. It is hoped, however, to begin construction work at an early date.
YOUTH TAKEN HOME STILL UNCONSCIOUS
Director Torkelson of Fullerton who was injured some time ago when he was thrown from his motorcycle and remained at the Fullerton hospital for some days unconscious was removed to his home Saturday afternoon in a Scale ambulance, still in a non-unconscious condition. It is expected, however, that he will recover.
Miss J. D. Miller left Friday over the P. E. for Boville, Ida., via Portland, Ore.
Miss Caroline Mauerhan left Friday over the P. E. for Spokane, Wash.
RUN DOWN, BADLY INJURED BY AUTO
Adolph R. Peschel, city gardener of Fullerton, was run down at noon in front of the city park on West Commonwealth-ave. Fullerton and painfully injured. Peschel, who is assistant to J. G. Seupelt, city park superintendent, was riding a bicycle. The Scale ambulance was called but in the meantime Peschel had been removed to his home at 306 East Commonwealth.
Peschel’s wheel was struck by Seupelt’s car. The accident occurred while Seupelt was talking to Peschel. Unwittingly Peschel turned his wheel in front of Seupelt’s car. The front wheel of the bicycle was pinned underneath the front wheel of the car, and Peschel underneath the bicycle. He was painfully bruised and shaken up. It was at first reported that his leg had been broken, but this proved not true. He was taken home by Seupelt, and except for soreness is said to be little the worse for the encounter.
