With Oil Operators The Central Petroleum is holding the production honors at Santa Fe Springs with two wells making an aggregate of 7350 barrels. Santa Fe No continues to be the big well of the field and the largest producer of high gravity oil in Southern California Santa Fe No. 1 flows 450 barrels of 32 gravity oil daily. Santa Fe No. 3 brought in last Saturday is making 3235 bbls of the same quality oil. It is a peculiar fact that Santa Fe No. 3 completed at 3788 is just a foot deeper than the Union's famous discovery well Bell No. 1. General Petroleum is leading the development work at Santa Fe Springs with 8 wells drilling and rigs underway for 12 new wells. The success of the field operations of the General Petroleum has been the cause of the rapid rise of the company stock. Ten weeks ago General Petroleum could be bought for $460.00, now the price is a $130.00. The Petroleum Midway's Foix, a recent completion at 3555 started flowing by heads and is not making the showing expected. It seems that it will be necessary to drill the well deeper. The well showed plenty of gas but did not seem to have sufficient oil to maintain a flow column. The Union Oil Company's Flood 1, drilling in the extreme north-west side of the field, is at 4200 and showing but little indication of oil. Sanchez No. 1, another deep Union well, has passed the 4200 mark and is not showing up very strong. The Farwell No. 1 at 3860 is swabbing for a production test and is not showing a great deal of oil. Alexander No. 2 is doubtless the Union's next big producer. At 3525 the gas pressure ran up to a point that made the well look dangerous. A great deal of care and precaution is being taken to bring this well into production without disaster. MAGNIFYING GLASS For industrial purposes a magnifying glass has been mounted in a heavy leather handle to protect it from rough use. SMALL VACUUM CLEANER An electric vacuum cleaner that can be operated by one hand, as it weighs only three pounds, has been invented. p.m.at which testimonials are given.
