WIRELESS AT SEA
New York Tribune
From the practical point of view tests have shown that it is possible for any one in a home or an office to pick up the ordinary telephone and converse with another person upon a ship in mid-ocean, without having to touch any cumbersome apparatus or tinker with any delicate controls.
The success attained by the experiment with the America shows that it will not be long before telephonic communication with Europe through a combination of land line telephone and wireless telephony is in regular use. It is merely a question of when the stations capable of performing this service can be put into operation. The equipment already exists.
Similarly communication with passengers upon an airplane in the air and with others on an express train will also be possible by the same apparatus, or combination of systems.
The automatic central station, which connects the ordinary with the radio telephone, will do all the technical work, and the speakers will use nothing more than the ordinary desk telephone.

STOP HAY FEVER AT THAT FIRST SNEEZE
With the coming of spring and blossoms, hay fever becomes quite common. In the Women's Clinic in Washington, a cure has been perfected which involves the placing of plants likely to cause hay fever on tiny scratch marks on the fore arm of the patient. The pollen causes a slight swelling around the scratch and the treatment is then directed against that specific pollen.
ORANGE SHOW HEAD ISSUES STATEMENT
Chairman Herman Stern of the Orange show committee issued the following statement today:
To Whom This May Come:
The undersigned, having been approached by a committee of the Merchants Ass'n, desires to make public the following:
R. R. Holbrook, is the official booth builder of this exposition and as such he has solicited space holders for the privilege of building their booths. At the same time, any booth holder may build the booth himself or delegate the work to any one he may choose, and there is no exclusive concession in this department.
Moreover any person holding a privilege in this exposition may employ any kind of labor he wishes, union or non-union, and there never has been any objections made by any one connected with this Show, as to such performance, on the part of any space holder or any one having a privilege in the California Valencia Orange Show.
The electric wiring is under the charge of A. H. Ramsay, who has been wiring the tents now being used in the Show for the past several years. Most of the material used in suspending the lights belongs to the National Orange Show and is only rented by this Exposition. As a matter of courtesy, to the officers of the National Show, and because Mr. Ramsay is so familiar with the work of wiring this kind of a job, that he can do it in less than half the time taken by a man unacquainted with such work, we employed Mr. Ramsay on the strong recommendation of the National Orange show. It is only natural that the National Show officers should wish their rental property to be in the hands of a proper custodian, and one who is with the material all the time under their employment when the show is at home.
The same thing applies to Tom Kennedy, the tent foreman, who employs his own men because they are fit for this work. He is also employed at the suggestion and request of the National Orange Show.
