Chambers, Mrs. J. W. Sackett went to FULLERTON HOTEL MOVING RAPIDLY The large new hotel for Fullerton is fast being changed from a hope into a reality. New materials are constantly arriving on the ground and work is progressing rapidly. Walls are nearly complete for the first story. The structure is of brick, and has not yet been given any of the coating which is to give it the appearance it bore in the architect's picture. When completed, Fullerton expects to be able to vie with any city of its size in So. Cal in its hotel facilities. The contractors have several months to complete the building. The new city reservoir is also nearing completion. EBELL MUSIC LOVERS MEET The music section of the Ebell club enjoyed a pleasant afternoon yesterday at the home of Mrs. A. Osborne on No. Spudra-rd. The Anshigamated Oil Co. continues with its exploitation work on the Dalugge lead. Dalugge No. 1 is drilling now and taking core barrel samples at 4045 and the formation is showing considerable oil. The Dalugge property looks like one of the richest and best holdings in the Santa Fe Springs district. The Central Oil Co. had a little set back on its Tank Farm well. The first cementing failed to shut off water at 4005 feet and it will be necessary to do some more work on the well. The General Petroleum's Santa Fe No. 1 continues to be the pride of the field. This big well completed three weeks ago at 3900 feet is making 4200 barrels with the regularity of a clock. The oil is 33 gravity and does not run a grain of sand to a thousand barrels. In a few days the General Petroleum will have two duplicate wells that will give the annual exhibit of the Fullerton grammar school is being held today at the primary building at the corner of Chapman and Harvard-aves. A varied exhibit of wild flowers is being made by the general science class. "PEGGY" INSISTS "IT'S LIES, ALL LIES" NEW YORK, May 12—"Lies! All lies!" With army flung aloft, tears of rage and mortification glistening in her eyes and as one small foot stamped in anger, Peggy Hopkins Joyce, noted as the modern "Cleopatra," thus denied stories of heart-breaking, home-wrecking and wild parties in Paris on her arrival here from Europe today on the liner Maurerania. She brought with her more than $1,000,000 worth of gowns and jewels. She said she was going at once to Norfolk, Va., to visit and comfort her mother. This big well completed three weeks ago at 3900 feet is making 4200 barrels with the regularity of a clock. The oil is 33 gravity and does not run a grain of sand to a thousand barrels. In a few days the General Petroleum will have two duplicate wells that will give the Santa Fe Springs production a big boost. The Petroleum Midway is scheduled to be the next Santa Fe Springs producing company. The Petroleum Midway's Standee No. 1 at 3529 struck a nice light oil sand that has the life of a ten thousand barrel well. The water string will be set and this well will be ready to try out on production in ten days. The first and only disappointment of the Santa Fe Springs field is the Union Oil Company's Meyer No. 4. This well drilled to 4516 started off pumping water. A little oil came in later and now this dap well is doing about 40 barrels. Meyer No. 3 a producer for a number of years at 90 barrels, 37 gravity oil has dropped to 40 barrels. Meyer No. 5 the last hope of the Meyer property a 4977 foot well stands cemented at 4594. Montebello is a scheduled for new producer soon. The Comanche Oil Company's Calkins No. 1 sets the 81-4 at 3590 and on drilling out the cement another St. Helen's Eggleston well is looked for. The Calkins has been showing up very strong. The Baldwin-Stocker Oil Estate is rig going up on its No. 4 and will start drilling immediately. This well was located and the rig built more than a year ago, and was occasioned by the big showing made by the Columbia Oil Producing Co's Adobe No. 3. The Baldwin-Stocker well will be drilled under the supervision of the McGilney Oil Company. Redondo got another nice boost a few days ago when the Chansler-Canfield Midway got an excellent showing of oil in its Torrance No. 1 at 3277. The sand was struck just 25 feet below the mark worked out by W.R. Blodgett the Chansler-Canfield oil engineer. On striking the oil sand the well started to flow and it was only by hard and quick work that the well was prevented from getting away.
