ELKS' PIN LEAGUE
WILL OPEN MAY 26
Plans for the So. Cal. Elks Bowling league were completely revamped last night at a conference in Los Angeles. Local bowlers were represented by Dugas, Myre and Johnson. Instead of confining the team lineups to ace bowlers, it was decided to divide the talent between two A and three B bowlers. Under this arrangement, Anaheim will enter two teams. Fifteen teams were proposed last night and it is expected there will be a total of 20 in which case the teams will be divided into two divisions. The league will start May 26.
Next Monday night all teams entered will meet at the No. 99 Elks club in Los Angeles and parade in autos thru the city, hended by the 99 band. Appropriate banners on the autos will attract attention to the league. After the parade, the bowlers will flock to the Angelus alley for a sweepstakes event which will not count in league standings. Afterwards there will be a feed and reception at the 99 clubhouse.
Next week there will be a meeting in Long Beach to arrange a Summer Suburban Bowling league in which it is proposed to enter four teams from Anaheim, four from Long Beach and two from San Pedro.
Tonight will be the grand sweepstakes in the Pacific Coast Bowling Congress at the Angelus alleys, the last five-man entry having bowled last night and the doubles and singles having been wound up today. Anaheim will not have an entry tonight but tomorrow night Anaheim will have a five-man team in the Elks sweepstakes. This team will probably include Gordon, Evans, Efker, Dugas and Myre.

ATTEMPT TO MATCH MABEE AND BADEN
Ventilations are under way for a match between Roy Mabee and Vic Bawn; the two big local heavyweight wrestlers, Billy Darnley of the Anaheim Athletic club has the arrangements in charge and expects to sign two big boys up in a day or so for a fine match, best two out of three fall catch-as-catch-can.
The Grand Theatre has been secured and warring expects to stage another high-class card of wrestling events such as was staged at the recent Spurs-Mabee show.
Bin and Mabee should put up a framworth going miles to see. There are any who predict that the tall boy will be Mabee a tough old battle. He is touch at the mat game, having met defeated some good men through middle-west before coming to Anaheim several years ago.
Mabee is still flushed with his recent lore over Sparkes and his many friends and admirers are still waxing warmer his sensational "comeback." It is beted that tomorrow will see the d of the math settled upon.

A band of royal roosters is being told to accompany the champion Ebaseball team to Brookside park, Idena, Sunday for what promises be one of the hottest contests locals have entered this year, second of the three games scheduled with the famous Cox-Haas aggrega.
Smart under their four-to-three defeat Last Sunday, the Cox and Haas bars did not wait until they were out Anaheim before they began lay plans for a come-back next Sunday. It is beted that tomorrow will see the d of the math settled upon.

(THE GRID VARIOMETER)
Wood rotors and stators can be used to advantage but the average amateur cannot obtain these. This data holds good on wood parts if they are nearly the same in size as the tubing described.
Rotor—Length, 2¼ inches; diameter, $3\frac{3}{4}$ inches; turns, 48.
Space of one-half inch between 24 and 25 turn.
Stator—Length, $2\frac{3}{4}$ inches, diameter, $4\frac{3}{4}$ inches; turns, 48.
Space of one-half inch between 24 and 25 turn.
Variocoupler data was published yesterday. Tomorrow—The Plate Variometer.
I have received several queries as to what I think of the sets that are given for securing subscriptions to certain newspapers.
In the first place these sets are not long distance sets and do not pick up all that is in the air as is claimed by a local paper. This type of set is one of the simplest forms of receiver known and has the disadvantage of not being very selective owing to the fact that no coupling between the primary and secondary circuit is possible.
HINTS
Fifteen-cent phonograph records make excellent forms for spider-web coils.
Coils can be wound with bare wire if the winding is spaced with thread.
Do not give coils a heavy coat of shellac as it increases the capacity.
Psychology Lectures Will Start Tomorrow
The first of a series of Free Lectures on Practical Psychology will be given tomorrow, Thursday night, at 8 p.m., in the Odd Fellows hall. Anaheim, by Madame T. M. Makara, noted European Psychologist, and Jane A. Scully, expert Psycho-Mental analyst of Duluth.
Psychology is sweeping the world, says Madame Makara. It has already wedged its way permanently into business life. It is only logical to assume that if there are laws governing the universe, there are laws guiding the greatest creation of all man.
In the past we have blamed every one but ourselves for lack of health, success and happiness. Psychology shows us that by the understanding of a few basic laws, limitations with which we have already surrounded ourselves fade away and everything is possible to us.
The subject of the opening lecture is "Seeing and Seizing Big Opportunities." Fame, Success of Failure? Health, Happiness or Despondance? Which way are you headed?
There will be a special musical program with Miss Helen Wishard, of Fullerton, as the accompanist. All are cordially invited.
LIGHT DIVING HELMET
For using comparatively shallow water a light driving helmet has been invented that is not perfectly water tight, water being excluded by the pressure of the air pumped into it.
