NEWS OF FULLERTON DAVIS AND MOORE NAMED TRUSTEES Roy Davis, for several years trustee of Fullerton, was re-elected in the city election yesterday by a comfortable majority. W. A. Moore was elected to succeed Robert Strain. Davis was appointed six years ago to fill out two years of an unexpired term and then re-elected for four years to succeed himself. This is his third term. Davis received 554 votes, and Moore 471. There were two other candidates in the race, Gurman Hoppe, and George Annin. Hoppe received 375 votes and Annin 299. LAST SESSION OF SCOUTS' SCHOOL The last session of the school of instruction for boy scout workers will be held tonight at the Fullerton high school. The good turn, signaling, handicraft, oath and law, judging, recruit work, swimming, savings, map-making, troop spirit, and other things will be discussed. The Boy Scout lessons have attracted much interest in the Boy Scout headquarters of Fullerton. HAUL BRICK FOR MOTEL Brick is arriving on the grounds for the building of the big new hotel in Fullerton. Work has been progressing for some time on the foundations. The concrete has been laid, and dried, and work will begin soon on the building of the framework for the first story. PLAN FOR BABY SHOW Preparations are being made by the Merchant's committee of the Fullerton B. of T. for the big carnival to be held in Fullerton about May 1, when there will also be a baby show held in connection with it, and everything possible be done to boost Fullerton. The recent three days' sale which was held in Fullerton last week was counted quite a success. FRISCO FIRE CHIEF KIWANIS SPEAKER The regular weekly meeting of the Fullerton Kiwanis club was held at noon today at the I. O. O. F. hall in Fullerton, there being about 90 in attendance. There were many matters of local interest discussed but the main feature of the meeting was an address by Fire Chief Stephens of San Francisco on fire prevention. Mr. Stephens' talk was very helpful, as well as very interesting, as he recounted the various methods by which fires could be prevented. The greater number of fires are the result of rank carelessness, it was stated, and a little care taken by all would speedily reduced the fire hazard. The attendance prize was won by J. L. Haver. FULLERTON BRIEF'S Mrs. R. Davis and her sister, Miss E. Van Cleave, will be a dinner guest this evening of Mrs. W. R. Davis. Mrs. Marie Beck will entertain the members of the Thimble club at her home tomorrow afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Ames, and daughter, Helen, visited friends in Corona Sunday. The Fullerton Woman's club will meet tomorrow evening for their regular meeting at the home of Mrs. L. Plummer. Mrs. R. Davis is enjoying a visit from her sister, Miss E. Van Cleave, of Los Angeles, who will remain for an indefinite time. Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Gunnett and Mrs. Gunnett's sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. H. COUPLE WEDDED HERE Mack Elliott and Mrs. Nina Maltsberger, both of Los Angeles, were married yesterday afternoon by Judge Howard. Both the bride and bridegroom were about 27 years of age. ONE KILLED, 11 HURT SAN ANTONIO, Tex., Apr. 11. — Jobanna Benner, an enlisted man of Baltimore, Md., was killed and 11 were injured when a pyrotechnic dump at Camp Bullis exploded during a demonstration of night firing by the Seventeenth Infantry Training Battalion. COTTON WASHINGTON, April 11—An increased demand for cotton goods in Chinese markets soon may be expected, the department of commerce announced today. American exporters and manufacturers, the department stated, should begin active preparations to re-enter these markets as soon as possible. Greater optimism was reported in the Shanghai piece goods market, as shown by the more active building at auctions. The Manchurian cotton goods market cabled reports said opportunities were opening up for Americans. While American goods, the advices said, might be unable to compete with the low prices of Japanese products, "the superiority in American quality should offset this disadvantage." Search for additional evidence in connection with the shooting of Lieutenant Col Paul Ward Bock by Judge Jean P. Day after an alleged attempt to attack Mrs. Day, was under way today by army officers. Comrades of the dead idol of the air service, were firm in their determination for further action, although County Attorney Forest Hughes and the army board of inquiry have decided that the evidence on hand would not justify charges against Day.
