FORWARDING DEPT.
AUTO CLUB ACTIVE
Proof that auto owners in Southern California will stop at nothing when it comes to touring is shown in news of the activity of the car-forwarding department of the Automobile Club of Southern California just received.
Hitten by the tourist bug which thrives in this section as nowhere else in America, motorists are shipping their cars this season to the four corners of the globe—and motorists from the four corners of the globe are shipping their cars here for touring purposes.
Groups of motorists at the present time are shipping cars from Southern California to Manila, France, England and Honolulu. Other shipments from the Auto club are being made to Mexico, Rotterdam and Japan.
This club service, which is free to members and visitors in the south, is also bringing in large numbers of machines from New York and foreign lands. Private touring parties are also bringing in numerous cars from northern points, notably Seattle and Portland.
Motorists who desire to ship their machines to other countries are advised to get in touch with the nearest club office for information at this time in regard to carload lots of autos which are leaving within a few days, as cheaper rates in this way are available.
By this "clubbing together" method, autoists are able to save large sums of money. It is also increasing the number of visitors in Southern California, and greatly increases the general prosperity of the southern counties of the state. Shipments by sea as well as land, of course, are very popular at this time.
JORDAN HEAD SEES BUSINESS REVIVAL

NEW DEVICE SAVES
47 P. C. GAS, CLAIM
Saving of 47 per cent gasoline is claimed for the triple aid fuelizer, the agency for which has been taken over here by A. L. Witter for Orange-co. Witter has opened an office at 216 Wilson & Bever, building. Both Wilson and Bever have ordered the device for their car. So has R. W. Mattoon, who will install it on machines here, and Albert Schafer, an oil worker. Various other orders are in prospect.
The contrivance is manufactured by the Auto Accessories Sales Agency of Kansas City. It can be installed on any automotive machine or even on a stationary engine; says Witter. It seals the gasoline tank air tight and prevents the loss of the best and most powerful part of the gasoline through the vent, but does not hinder the flow to the vacuum tank or carburetor. It generates a reliable hydro-carbon gas, provides the right amount of moisture, draws out of the crank case all of the gas that is forced by the rings on compression unexploded, prevents dilution of the oil in the crank case and improved lubrication. It operates automatically under all weather conditions. No changes in machinery are necessary for its installation.
"Hup" Engine Is Inferior to None
The Hupmobile, "the car for the American family," has been attracting more interest than ever since the Golden State Motor Company opened its handsome showrooms on South Los Angeles street.
The long-life qualities of a car depends principally upon the engine, and this car's engine is a sole Hupmobile product, designed and built in the Hupmobile factory.
Here is a description of the motor, etc.

JORDAN HEAD SEES BUSINESS REVIVAL
Any man who wants to find out whether business is coming back can take a tip from Edward S. Jordan, president of the Jordan Motor Car Company, says Joe Walter, of the J. C. Walter company.
He made up his mind that one man's judgment of the situation did not count for much. He decided to interview one hundred men in different lines of business, taking them as they came.
He asked one question of the banker, the butcher, the baker, the tailor, the grocer, the steel manufacturer the railroad conductor and scores of others. Here is the question:
"Is business getting any better?"
He began on the 15th of March. Within two weeks he had asked the question of one hundred people in different lines of business. The invariable answer proved that business is getting better.
It means that no one branch of trade can improve unless all branches of trade are improving.
With steel prices going up, automobiles selling as they have never sold before, stocks of merchandise low, with travel on the railroads increasing, with the farmer selling his products as much higher prices, a wave of prosperity is starting across the country. It will be ninety days before all of the people realize it.
Production in general right now is insufficient to meet what will be a very satisfactory spring demand.
July first, according to Jordan, will see the permanent turn in all lines of business.
With price cuts on new cars admittedly over, the level on used cars is expected to hold firm from now on.
The long-lived qualities of a car depends principally upon the engine, and this car's engine is a sole Hupmobile product, designed and built in the Hupmobile factory.
Here is a description of the motor, etc.
FOUR-CYLINDER—3½ inch bore by 5½ inch stroke; cylinder displacement 182 cubic inches. Cylinders and crank case are cast en bloc. The head is detachable.
CRANKSHAFT — Drop forged from 40-50 point carbon steel and carefully balanced. Three bearings of best grade phosphor bronze with special high-speed babbit lining. Bearings are exceptionally large, and carefully fitted by hand scraping.
FLYWHEEL—Best grade of semi-steel attached to the crankshaft by six nickel steel bolts.
CONNECTING RODS — I-beam shape, drop-forged from 35-45 point carbon steel, and especially machined for lightness and balance. Bearings are of phosphor bronze, babbit lined, scraped and fitted by hand.
PISTONS — Special, light-cast, hour glass shape, high speed type. Fitted with three rings, two above the piston pin, and one below, which serves to keep oil out of the combustion chamber.
CRANK CASE—The crank case and cylinders are in a single casting of the best grade cylinder iron, and remarkably rigid. Motor and crank case are extremely accessible from the bottom. The engine has three-point suspension.
CYLINDER BLOCK—Has an extra large water space, especially around the valves. The cylinders are ground on an internal grinder.
COMBUSTION CHAMBER—Of a special improved shape which gives large mixture volume over the valves.
Steady improvement of the automobile industry the past few months is reflected in this week's reports of better earnings of prominent companies.

AUTO CLUB SEEKS "LOST MORMONS"
In an effort to open for motor travel the hitherto unexplored sections of the California desert places, a charting party of the Automobile Club of Southern California is now tracking the trackless wastes of the west.
Romance stalks' hand in hand with death in this latest road-making expedition of the Auto club, for the objective of the party will be the last resting place of the "Lost Mormons" who endeavored to reach the coast in the pioneer days of '49.
Far to the north of Death Valley the club will seek for the lost wagons of the Mormons which are reported to be lying somewhere in the desert, guarded by the bleached bones of the mules, which dragged them across the burning sands. The object of the search will be the establishment of a route into the desert to be known in that section as the "Lost Wagon" Trail.
Leaving Southern California the club has pushed far into the desert, according to a report just received here, and is at the present time plowing its way through Death Valley in a resolve to reach the famous Furnace Creek ranch, the last outpost of civilization in this torrid area lying hundreds of feet below sea level.
All water-holes, the life-savers of weary travellers, are to be charted by the club expedition and will be marked by metal signs anchored in the shifting sands by huge redwood blocks.
Three weeks will be needed by the party to penetrate the heart of the desert, during which time the club signs will be continued into Nevada by way of Goldfield, Tonopah, Gold Reed, Hiko and Alamo. With the return of the club scouts, maps will be drawn by the drafting department for motorists all over America to use in touring the waste places.

REO RUN 2 YEARS WITHOUT REPAIRS
C. C. Latshaw has two things he swears by—United States Royal Cord tires and Reo cars. The other day Latshaw drove his 1920 Reo down town and got a new set of the same tires, turning in his old ones and paying $100.00. He has driven for 27,000 miles on the tires he turned in, which were new like the car when he bought them. Not one of the four tires has been off the machine during that time.
He spent $1.45 for repairs during all that time, he told L. E. Martin of Dale & Company, Reo and Packard agents. He has never had his valves ground, his brakes re-lined or any replacements of parts made. He claims he can outpull, outclimb and outspeed even a new Reo right now, and is willing to bet on it. He appears sold on the Reo.
The garage craft of the Orange County Auto Trade Association will meet next Wednesday evening at Huntington Beach.
A NEW AND NOVEL INVENTION
TRIPLE AID FUELIZER
The greatest invention ever perfected for gas engines using gasoline. Can be installed on any automobile, truck, tractor, or stationary engine.
Seals the gasoline tank air tight and prevents the loss of the best and most powerful part of the gasoline through the vent; but does not prevent the flow of gasoline to the vacuum tank or carburetor.
Generates a genuine Hydro-Carbon gas, in the tank, free from all liquid gasoline, which will explode at any temperature without carbon deposit.
Provides the right amount of moisture at all times without permitting any water or steam to enter the cylinders, and without the use of needle valves which corrode, clog up and get out of order.
Draws out of the crank case all of the gas that is forced by the rings on compression, unexploded, and utilizes it for more power and miles, and prevents dilution of the oil in the crank case and improves lubrication.
Works in combination with the regular carburetor, aiding its vaporization, utilizes all of the gasoline, saves and uses all of the gas lost by evaporation through the vent on the tank and all the gas from signs will be continued into Nevada by way of Goldfield, Tonopah, Gold Reed, Hiko and Alamo. With the return of the club scouts, maps will be drawn by the drafting department for motorists all over America to use in touring the waste places.

Works in combination with the regular carburetor, alding its vaporization, utilizes all of the gasoline, saves and uses all of the gas lost by evaporation through the vent on the tank and all the gas from the crank case, produces a gas free from all liquid gasoline, properly humidified, high powered and snappy, producing a sharp, powerful explosion that leaves no carbon and does not burn the lubricating oil on the walls of the cylinders.
Operates automatically in all kinds of weather, under all conditions, on any kind of a gasoline engine, and is guaranteed to give more miles per gallon of gasoline, more power and pep, prevent carbon troubles, and greatly improve the lubrication.

To Whom It May Concern:
We, the undersigned, hereby certify that we witnessed two tests made on a Buick Six Touring car belonging to Mr. A. L. Witter and driven by Mr. R. W. Mattoon.
The first test was made using the regular carburetor only, and the second using the Triple Aid Fuelizer in combination with the carburetor.
The results showed that the Triple Aid Fuelizer gave an increase of 47% in miles per gallon of gasoline. Both tests were on measured gallons of gasoline over the same road with the same load and at the same speed.
