TRI-COUNTY MEET
TO SEE FAST TIME
The first annual tri-county field and track meet will be held on the Santa Ana high school oval March 18. The meet which is being put on by the Santa Ana high school is open to any student eligible for athletics within any Orange, Riverside or San Bernardino-co high school. There are a number of high schools in these counties who boast high class track entries and as the entrance list promises to be big keen competition will result.
As is the custom four places will be awarded in each track and field event and the winners will receive gold medals. Those finishing second will receive silver medals the third place men will be given sterling medals and a bronze medal is given those who place fourth.
A handsome large silver loving cup will be awarded to the school making the highest number of points. And to the individual athlete scoring the most points a loving cup will be presented. A cup is also to be awarded the winning relay team. This promises to be the main track event of the show. The competition runs high as there are some of the big teams who ran in the A. A. U. relay carnival recently held in Redlands.
This big event will in all probability be the fastest track meet to be held in Orange-co and second only to the Big So. Calif. Internscholastic meet to be held about three weeks later on the same field. A capacity crowd is expected from all the schools represented. The other two counties, it is reported will bring much larger teams than this county.
OPEN BASEBALL SEASON
The opening of the baseball season yesterday was celebrated by Fullerton high school getting a whipping from Sherman Indians, which was done by a score of 8 to 7. The game was played at Fullerton.
The track meet which was to have been held today between Santa Ana and Fullerton was called off because of the influenza.
The high school and junior college expect to play each other in a basketball game tonight. The high school team expects to play Orange tomorrow.
YAP TREATY RATIFIED
WASHINGTON Mar. 2—The treaty with Japan for control of the island of Yap was ratified by the senate by a vote of 67 to 22, seven more than the required two-thirds. Senator Hiram Johnson voted against the treaty. All proposed amendments and reservations were voted down and the treaty as adopted is in the exact form in which it was first presented. The four-power treaty was introduced by Senator Lodge, and probably will be voted upon today.
DEBATE GREAT LAKES OUTLET
WASHINGTON Mar. 2—Debate on the project o an outlet for ocean-go ing vessels from the Great Lakes thru the St. Lawrence river to the Atlantic was the feature of the opening session of the rivers and harbors congress. Participants in the debate included Governors Miller of New York, Allen of Kansas and P. H. Merrick of Chicago former chairman of the Mississippi Valley Ass'n.

Calif. interscholastic meet to be held about three weeks later on the same field. A capacity crowd is expected from all the schools represented. The other two counties, it is reported will bring much larger teams than this county.
Santa Ana Anaheim, Fullerton, Orange and Huntington Beach enter as one county, and all are sending men of ability.
Dopesters have it figured out that Huntington Beach is planning to walk away with most of the events, but according to the records kept of the recent carnival they were only able to place third. Large schools of the other two counties will give the Beach boys a hard fight for points.
Coach Youngman is expecting some great work from his track men and although he is not expecting to win the meet his charges will bring home
LINDSAY UNRECOGNIZED
NEW YORK, Mar. 2.—Alfred E. Lindsay, accused of making away with several hundred thousand dollars in money and securities of leading society women, is unknown to W. A. Harriman and Charles H. Sabin, the financiers testified before Assistant District Attorney Murphy. The two also said they never heard of the Domino Club.
