THIRTY CHILDREN ENJOY AFTERNOON WITH TINY FRIEND
MISS PHYLISS GRANADA, charming five-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dan Granada, of N. Zeyn street, was the very pleasing hostess Saturday afternoon when she entertained for a number of friends to compliment her birthday anniversary. Red, white and blue were used as the setting and for the decorative features on the table. A minature George Washington was given to each guest as a souvenir, favors being a small hatchet.
Before the luncheon, games both indoors and out were enjoyed, and when the guests were invited into the dining room they saw a most prettily appointed table, with all the suggestions of George Washington, whose birthday is an event of this week. A monstrous birthday cake, baked by the Bake-rite bakery, held the eye of the young guests, the top of the cake being covered with different colors in whipped cream, and it really was too beautiful to cut, but oh how delicious it tasted to the guests. Miss Phyllis was the recipient of many gifts which serve as reminders of the day when she celebrated her fifth birthday.
Joining in the affair of the delightful afternoon were Lois Heiserdt, Aldine Huff, Evelyn Magathan, Lillian Lund, Helen and Berndetta Tucker, Roland Spencer, Violet Zacharias, Chester Burkhart, Melvin Smith, Willie Shipman, Margaret, Helen, and Buddie Fossel, Edith Spencer, Alice, Eva and Dorothy Berry, Ima and Alvin Chandler, Wesley Lautenback, Jeanette Hollingworth, Catherine Ball, Marian Stroup, Nell Harris, Barbara and Betty Dunton, Ruth Frieda of Santa Ana and the hostess, Miss Granada. Several of the mothers were present to
SPRING APPROACH HERALDED WITH LOVELY BLOOM
CARDS held the interest of a company of ladies which Mrs. Victor Loly had invited in to pass the afternoon Saturday at her home and many rounds were played about the three tables.
The hostess skillfully used Japan quince bloom and pussywillow for floral decorative effect, which was beautiful and spring like. Valentines held their places in favor and tally cards, favors, place cards; all bore the season's greetings.
Prizes were won by Mrs. Holland, first, Mrs. Sheridan, second, and Mrs. Gibson, consolation. A three-course luncheon was served at 4:30 and a pleasant review of the interesting plays was made the while. Gathered about the tables were the Mesdames W. B. Holland, J. A. Clayes, H. M. Adams, Horace Ames, B. H. Sidnam, Mrs. J. W. Cummings, grandmother of Mrs. Sidnam, and who is her house guest; G. W. Closson, Al Heying, Rex Gibson, Leo. Sheridan, D. Arnold Singleton and Mrs. Loly.

The afternoon meeting was also an excellent one, and again in the evening interest was most apparent. Rev. Abel, who is the soloist and choir leader, is proving his worth and adds a great deal to the services with his wonderful voice. The large choir of young people is his especial delight.
