VALENTINE DAY
IS OCCASION FOR
BIRTHDAY PARTY
COMPLIMENTING her mother,
Mrs. J. W. King, of Lincoln avenue,
Anaheim, Mrs. H. N. Logan,
of Willmington, invited a company of ladies to her home to help celebrate the birthday anniversary of the honoree. Using Mrs. King's favorite colors, lavender and purple, the house was charmingly decorated, and valentines added to the trimmings and colorings.
After greetings and congratulations, and presentation of many pretty and useful gifts, bridge was played, and later two prizes and the consolation were presented to the winners, who were Willmington ladies.
A delicious luncheon was served late in the afternoon, the chief feature being the big birthday cake, also done in the color scheme. Attending from Anaheim were the Mesdames J. W. King, Lee Davis, J. H. Swan and J. S. King, the four ladies having driven over for the happy occasion.
ROUND TABLE CLUB
HAS ANNIVERSARY
DINNER PARTY
ONE of the largest and best functions in the history of the Placentia Round Table club was held last night when the twentieth organization of the club was held. The club was founded in 1902, incorporated in 1911 and federated in 1914. The club year is from October first to May 31 of each year.
Appropriate of the Valentine season and also of approaching spring, Valentines and feathery acacias were used to beautify the club house interior. The long tables were daintily trimmed and quite filled the room, as fully one hundred members and their families, were guests. A 6:30 dinner opened the pleasures of the evening, and upon the completion of the meal Mrs. J. E. Scott, president of the club, with characteristic charm welcomed the large company. A program of excellent numbers was given by persons of talent, among them being two selections by the Dowling

INTERMEDIATES HOLD SUCCESSFUL BAZAAR
The Intermediate bazaar and social held in the basement of White Temple on Valentine eveing, was a success and was attended by a large crowd of purchasers and interested spectators. The booths were conveniently arranged and appropriately trimmed. Hand made articles of every kind had been placed on sale and were eagerly purchased.
A splendid program was given, commencing at 8:30 with a number by the high school band, and was composed of a list of numbers of excellent quality. Mutt and Jeff caused their share of amusement, being splendid replicas "in the real" of the famous cartoon characters. Cornet and clarionen solos and quartettes were thoroughly enjoyed and applauded.
Streamers of red and white with countless numbers of tiny red hearts furthered the valentine idea in decorations about the large room. The money from the sales will go to swell the piano fund which the young people of the church recently started, and which, with their energy and determination, will be completed before long.
Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Ruick went to Santa Fe Springs last evening to see the burning well.
