APPLEBY'S DURANTS DIRECT FROM MAKER
James E. Appleby's shipments of Durant cars arriving this week came as usual directly to him and were not included in the shipment of 100 cars from the east.
Appleby said: "We deal direct with the factory and hold our county franchise with the manufacturer. We received one carload this week direct from the factory and more are coming—and they will have to come fast to take care of the demand for the new product, if indications at this time point definitely so possible future business."
SANTA ANANS IN STORM
Several Santa Anans were among those marooned during the big snow-storm. They were on a trip to Camp Baldy and got into snow 18 inches deep. Among those in the crowd were I. W. Turner, sales manager for Charles L. Davis, Chandler and Cleveland agent; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Cuthbert, Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Stevens, Charles L. Davis, Mrs. Orin Harden and Mrs. Beatty, Davis' mother.
DROVE WHILE DRUNK, CHARGE
Application for a hearing for probation on a charge of driving a car while intoxicated was made today by Robert Curran of Long Beach, after he had pleaded guilty to the charge. Friday morning next at 9:30 was set for the hearing. Curran is accused of having left his car at Fifth-st. Santa Ana, and tried to run away. He was caught and brought back. Charles Swanner was his attorney.

Mrs. C. P. Tompkins, of Colonial Apt., was hostess Friday afternoon to a number of friends in honor of Mrs. George Napoleon Nolan, Jr., who will leave shortly to take up her residence in Fullerton.
The principal feature of the affair was the presentation of many "tiny" gifts to Mrs. Nolan. Chatting and sewing took up the remainder of the afternoon, after which the hostess served dainty refreshments.
Those present included the Mes-dames G. N. Nolan, Jr., the honored guest, and daughter, Vallerie; J. B. Collings and daughter, Katherine; F. L. Bly and son, William; W. Mickle, and son, Edsol; J. C. Downey and daughter, Marietta; W. G. Saunders, Robert Boney, E. C. Russell, all of Anaheim; W. Black and son, Dolder, of Brea, and the charming hostess, Mrs. C. P. Tompkins and daughter, Bernice Clair.
MISSION CIRCLE ELECTS
The ladies of the Baptist Mission Circle elected officers at their regular meeting this week at the home of Mrs. A. H. Sitton. The following officers were chisen: Mrs. Harold Knox, president; Mrs. Albert Sitton, vice president; Mrs. Theron Jolly, secretary; Mrs. Hill, treasurer; and Mrs. Parry, pianist. A little play was given and dainty refreshments served, and a social time enjoyed.

Jerry Ridenour is the guest of his sister, Mrs. H. A. Riley, of Stanton, having stopped for a short visit while en route to Taft.
The C. E. Douglass family have moved into the new home on East Broad-st, and the house which they vacated is occupied by Mrs. Jennie Baert and family.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles A. Bowers and daughter, Cleo, of Santa Anna, have returned to their home after a visit with Mrs. George L. West, in Brookhurst.
The L. V. Wheeler family were dinner guests last evening of the Robert Owen family, corner South and Rio Vista-sts. Accompanied by Mrs. Wheeler's father, L. J. Winney, the family will visit tomorrow with Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Winney in Los Angeles.
Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Melcher, who have resided on the Sparkes & Melcher ranch, are leaving tomorrow for Los Angeles, where they will make their home. Mr. Melcher will at once contract business relations in that city.
Fred Pressel, who was severely injured several weeks ago when he was thrown from a wagon to the curbing, by a runaway team, is again quite poorly, although able to sit up in his very special price!

Wheeler's father, L. J. Winney, the family will visit tomorrow with Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Winney in Los Angeles.
Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Melcher, who have resided on the Sparkes & Melcher ranch, are leaving tomorrow for Los Angeles, where they will make their home. Mr. Melcher will at once contract business relations in that city.
Fred Pressel, who was severely injured several weeks ago when he was thrown from a wagon to the curbing, by a runaway team, is again quite poorly, although able to sit up in his easy chair. Coupled with his injuries, Mr. Pressel has a severe cold.
Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Graham, Miss Lucille Darling and Louis Darling, of 251 South Lemon, will pass tomorrow in Orange, the dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. O. I. Dearborn, on East Palm, Orange.
Mrs. Georgia Sherill, of San Diego, is the guest of her sister, Mrs. Grace Halladay, planning to remain for a week.
Mrs. Ben Yorba of the Yorba ranch is spending the day with her mother, Mrs. Lee Leep.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Goodrich and Mr. and Mrs. Lee Leep will be guests at Laguna tomorrow.
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Kustiner and baby son, Dick, will motor to San Bernardino tomorrow to spend the day with relatives.
Dr. and Mrs. J. C. Osher will be guests of friends in Los Angeles tomorrow.
Mrs. Joe Kustiner and son Dick were Pasadena visitors on Friday.
James Drier of San Bernardino will spend Sunday at the F. G. Peck home.
Mr. and Mrs. John Ackerman of Pennsylvania are visiting at the country home of the Owen's for several days prior to their departure for San Francisco.
Walter Naugle is spending the week-end with his parents. He is a student at U. S. C.
Mr. and Mrs. D. Naugle will motor to Long Beach tomorrow for the day.
Mr. and Mrs. Walter Sander were Los Angeles visitors yesterday. They will motor to Camp Baldy tomorrow, accompanied by their children.
Mr. and Mrs. J. Lycan, of Whitier, were guests yesterday of Mr., and Mrs. LeRoy Lyons.
Miss Enid Cahoe of Placentia was an Anaheim visitor today.
Mrs. E. H. Heying passed yesterday in Whittier.
