THERE'S BUSINESS IF YOU GO FOR IT
That automotive equipment business is fast returning to normal is the statement of Frank P. Taggart, local Chevrolet dealer, whose organization has been making a close study of conditions as they pertain to the repair, machine shops, etc., of the automotive industry in the western territory. For the man who goes out after it there is plenty of business but the man who goes out not expecting to sell anything is not disappointed.
Mr. Taggart says that the trouble with a great number of people is that they are not yet over the orders that were given to them during the war period, and are comparing times today with that period, instead of normal times.
There are more machines being used today than ever before; there are more repair and replacement jobs as the machines are getting older and wearing out numerous parts.
NEW ESSEX COACH DISPLAYED MONDAY
Manager Grove, of the local branch of the Townsend & Medberry county dealers for the Hudson and Essex, announces that the distinctively new Essex coach, a design that is entirely new in automobile designing, will be on display at the Anaheim sales rooms next week.
In speaking of this latest model, Mr. Grove says:
"Essex has created a new type of closed car in the Coach—a model of the same standard of high quality which has always characterized Essex construction—one that will serve owners in all seasons, and offered at a price which is but little more than the cost of an open car.
The Coach fulfills the requirements of business and professional men with economy and satisfaction.
And it also is amply large to meet the family need in both city and country service."

CONTINUED COUGH RESULTS IN DEATH
H. M. McHugh, aged 57 years, passed away at his temporary home, 302 North Lemon, at 3:15 this morning. The result of a severe cold. Funeral services will be conducted in Monrovia, his home, Backs & Terry having sent the body to that city today.
Although suffering from an aggravating cough for several weeks, he felt no alarm at his condition, and continued his work at the Anaheim Machine Shop until two days ago when a physician was called, but too late.
Surviving him are his wife and two daughters, who reside in Monrovia, and who had not yet joined the husband and father in Anaheim.

DRIVE SEDAN SANS COAT ON COLD DAY
The warmth and comfort of a Hupmobile sedan were demonstrated in a rather novel manner on one of the coldest days of the protracted cold spell, when five salesmen, sans hats and sans coats drove through the shopping district in a 1922 Hupmobile sedan.
With people bundled to the ears in coats and wraps to ward off the unusual cold, these young men in the Hupmobile sedan attracted much attention. When they pulled up to the curb in front of one of the city's largest stores, the people stared as though they were facing some apparition.
Walter Hodges, manager of the Golden State Motor Co., Hupmobile distributor, states the remodeling and decorating of their building is now completed. Office furniture will be placed within a few days and a complete line of the company's motor products placed on display.
NOTHING MILITARY ABOUT BOY SCOUTS
"In spite of many efforts having been made to instruct the public to the contrary, there still seems to be a strong opinion prevailing to the effect that the Boy Scout movement is a military organization." D. Eyman Huff, new president of the Orange County Council, Boy Scouts of America, said today in talking of some of the problems confronting the Scout movement in Orange county.
Huff said: "The Scout movement is absolutely non-military in any phase of its work. Scoutmasters teach a very simple drill so they may more quickly handle their troops in an orderly fashion and at the same time gain a disciplinary control of the boys that is otherwise hard to get."

The Scout movement is absolutely non-military in any phase of its work. Scoutmasters teach a very simple drill so they may more quickly handle their troops in an orderly fashion and at the same time gain a disciplinary control of the boys that is otherwise hard to get.
"While the National organization is chartered by Congress like the American Red Cross and the Legion at the same time it has no official part, nor has it ever had, in a military training program. True, General Pershing said that some of the best soldiers he had in France during the last war had been Boy Scouts in their youth, at the same time their Boy Scouts training was of no more value to them on the battlefield than it is to them in every day life, in that they have received a training which develops an absolute character; through the Scout law they have incubated in their hearts a code of ethics which makes their every action honorable; and least of all they have learned to think for themselves, which makes them resourceful. These are characteristics which every man needs whether he be a soldier or a civilian.
"The Scout program evolved from a plan for training raw London recruits for African service. Lieut. Gen. Robert Baden-Powell found that the recruits he received from the more highly civilized citizenry of England did not make as good soldiers as the barbarous recruits he secured out of the jungles of Africa. This was because the English recruits were not resourceful, so Buden-Powell started to send these English recruits on long campaign trips, thus teaching them to do things for themselves. He tried this same scheme out with a small bunch of boys in London a short time afterwards and after adding the Scout Oath and Law, the program was printed and immediately put in use by different boys organizations to the extent that there are now nearly one million boy scouts scattered all over the world, and half of that membership is in the United States and 300,000 in England."
"Scouting is distinctly a non-military program for character building and citizenship training."
