AMAL. HUNTINGTON 6 COMES IN BIG WELL Huntington Beach The Amalgamated Oil Co.'s Huntington No. 6 completed at 3670 is one of the field's best wells for the week. The Amalgamated Oil Co. spent an extra $10,000 on this well and brought it in absolutely clean. The oil is running 26 gravity, and the production is between 350 and 400 barrels. The 6-in was landed in Huntington No. 6 at 3659. Huntington No. 7 is rigged up and ready to spud in Dennison No. 1 is at 1300 in sandy shale. Pierce No. 1 spudded in and made 600 feet. Fowler No. 2 continues to be the A. Co.'s big water producing 600 daily. At Johnson No. 1 the Argonaut Oil Co. set 2580 feet of 10 and cemented. The bottom of the hole is 2597. Turley No. 2 set 8-in at 3253 and is ready to drill out and go ahead. The Bell of Montebello is drilling out the cement again and getting ready to make a water test at 2360. The bottom of the hole is given at 2500 feet. Weather conditions did not permit the bringing in of Edens Syndicate No. 1 last week. The water is shut off and all that remains to be done is the installation of the necessary connections and swab the well. A three hundred barrel well is the prediction on this one. The Eddystone Oil Co. failed to get a shut off on the deep test well Huff No. 1 at 4361 and re-cemented. Ashton No. fell off on production and is now deepening at 3700 feet. Ashton No. 3 is waiting on a water test at 3746. Davenport No. 2 is drilling into the oil sand at 2655. Davenport No. 3 spudded in and made 800 feet. At 4200 the General Petroleum Community No. 1 is drilling in a hard shell. With the exceptions of a few soft spots the shell formation has been running now for over a 100 ft. The Gypsey Syndicate's No. 3 secured an O.K. on the water job at 2322 and is now drilling on into the oil sand. No. 2 continues to make its 200 barrels and No. 1 holds steadily at 220. Work has resumed on Huntington Central No. 2. The cement was drilled. CASING COLLAPSES IN REDONDO WELL Redondo Investigation into the condition of the Chansler-Canfield test well at Redondo reveals the fact that the 10 inch casing has gone bad at 21000, and probably has collapsed. It will be necessary now to pull the 5-in, and cement again before the ten. The work of mudding off, pulling pipe, putting it back in, and recementing will delay the drilling of new hole three or four weeks. At 3100 feet last week this well made all the showing necessary for an oil well to make and there is every reason to believe that the Chansler-Canfield will open up a new and big field for Southern California at Redondo. Domingues No. 1 is now drilling at 2,-300 in blue shale. The Union Oil Co. got a nice showing of oil in Francis No. 1 at 3200 feet, pulled back to 3175 and set the 8-1-4. The Union's Sommers well at Gardena continues to stand idle at 1553. HAWTHORNE MAKES LITTLE PROGRESS Hawthorne Little if any progress marked the work at Hawthorne during the past week. The Kitselman company, the only concern left in the field, has work underway on two wells. No. 2 (Bohon) down 1365 feet is redrilling at 975. Hecks (No. 3) the deep well continues standing recemented. Playa Del Rey No. 1 is making new hole in hard sand at 1835. Lausinger No. 2 the well that Kitselman figured on making a commercial gas well out of, shows considerable water and is now standing idle. MINNESOTA INSANE ON INCREASE ST. PAUL, Dec. 27—Minnesota has 6392 patients in its institutions for the insane, according to a table prepared by Dower Mullen, secretary, state board of control. The number of insane patients is 273 more than a year ago. There also is an increase of 114 MINNESOTA INSANE ON INCREASE ST. PAUL, Dec. 27—Minnesota has 6392 patients in its institutions for the insane, according to a table prepared by Downer Mullen, secretary, state board of control. The number of insane patients is 273 more than a year ago. There also is an increase of 114 in the number of feeble-minded patients in the institutions, there being 1836 registered at the present time. The total population of all 17 institutions is 11,395 an increase of 653 for the year. Decreases are shown in the population of the institutions for the blind and for delinquent children. The number of blind wards of the state is 84, eight less than were cared for in December, 1920. The population of the criminalistic institutions, the state prison and reformatory, is 1418, an increase of 198 during the year. Witman, Eyesight Specialist. shows 1500 feet in hard sand. Elliot No. 1 is washing out at 2936 and about ready to set the oil string. Vollmer-Meyer No. 1 at 3450 is pulling the R-in. No. 2 is fishing at 2-936, and No. 3 is building rig. Smythe No. 2 at 3200 is in sandy shale. The Republic Petroleum continues its efforts to shut the water off at No. 2 and get a producing well. The well has shown considerable oil and all that seems to stand in the way of a good well is the water. No. 3 completed rigging up and made 900 feet of hole. The Rhoades Oil Co. has a nice production now from 2 wells, and will have a third on production in a few days. No. 1 reset the 10-in at 2265 and is ready to test out again. No. 2 produces 200 barrels with ease and No. 3 (Edca) is making 145 barrels on the air lift. No. 4 formerly the Success Oil Company's No. 1 will be started drilling soon. There is no more Sandberg Petroleum Company at Long Beach." Tux" Edena and a Pasadena man by the name of Tracy have taken over the Sandburg holdings and the new company is to be known as the E and T Oil Company." Do not confuse this with the A. & T. The Rio Bravo Oil Company spudded in and made some hole at Rio Bravo No. 1, formerly the Guarantee No. 1, No. 2 at 2360 continues on production 125 barrels a day. No. 3 (Success) set the ten inch at 2885 and is ready to drill out and test for water. Huntington Beach operations of the Rio Bravo is under the efficient management of Bob McKeon. London demoiselles will copy the American vamps, say the West End fashion experts. "Complexion, coiffure and dress will all combine to produce the tigerish effect," said one. "The walk, too, should be slow and possess a feline grace and allurement." Eyes must be large, eyebrows slanting upwards like the Chinese, hair dark and sleek, dresses dark and clinging, perhaps one deep red rose. Cheeks instead of being a delicate refreshin rose, must have a marble pallor. And the lips must be very red. Perhaps some of the spare heena sets and lip sticks left over from the vampire era in the States will find a market over here. OAKLAND CHANNELS DEEPENED WASHINGTON, Dec. 28—Oakland's harbor channels will be deepened and widened and the harbors of Berkeley and Albany, all on San Francisco bay similarly improved if recommendations for an expenditure of $4,371,450 made by rivers and harbora engineers to Congress are carried out.
