News of Fullerton HIGH SCHOOL BOARD OPENS MANY BIDS The regular meeting of trustees of Fullerton Union high school was held Friday afternoon at the office of L. E. Plummer, principal. The feature was the opening of bids for the erection of th two new wings to the administration building of the high school, excavations for which have already been made at the southeast and southwest corners of the building. There was a large number of bidders, it was stated. The bids were all held over for consideration until the next meeting of the board, which is scheduled to be next week. DOUG AND MARY HOME AGAIN LOS ANGELES, Dec. 24. Douglass Fairbanks and Mary Pickford, moving picture stars, are expected to arrive here today on the California Limited of the Santa Fe. They have just returned from Europe. A reception committee will meet the two and a band will play. They will go direct to their home in Beverly Hills by auto. Plain Dealer Want Ads get results. TONIGHT LAST TIME $147,000 TOMATOES, 210 CARS, SHIPPED There were 210 cars of tomatoes shipped from the Fullerton district during the season, and the returns to the growers for the crop approximate $147,000 according to figures just made public. This is held as a very high figure considering that a large part of the crop was destroyed by frost. Altho the greater part of the crop was damaged in this manner, the No. Orange-co Produce Growers' Ass'n continued until a few days ago to send in mixed shipments tomatoes that continued to come in from the frostless belt. The market was extremely good, and some later shipments roled for as high as two dollars a box. The approximate return to the growers per car was $700. FULLERTON QUINTETS IN HOLIDAY GAMES While most of the Orange county basketball teams are enjoying rests from their labors, the Fullerton high school and junior college fives under the direction of Coach Glen Lewis, have plenty of work on hand. Several games have been played since school closed. Coach Lewis took his high school aggregation and went to Burbank, defeating the school there, 42 to 26. Wednesday afternoon the Fullerton Junior college entertained the Huntington Beach school basketball players, and won the game, 42 to 16. Hawkins and Hitchcock of Fullerton excelled, while the playing of Clapp of Huntington Beach was noteworthy. Next Wednesday the Fullerton high school entertains the Corona Athletic club. Next Friday Covina high school is scheduled to oppose Coach Lewis' huskies at Fullerton. The Junior college team is making an effort to secure another game out.
