WHITE CHRISTMAS AT WHITE TEMPLE BEAUTIFUL AFFAIR
THE Christmas exercises at the Methodist White Temple last night represented more than the rendering of a program, and was enjoyed by a capacity crowd.
Entirely covered with white, in keeping with the "White Christmas" idea, the platform was centered with a large white cross, topped with a star. In one corner stood a prettily trimmed Christmas tree, upon which the eyes of the little tots dingered. The program, entitled "White Gifts for the King," contained the following numbers: "As With Gladness Men of Old," by congregation, prayer, superintendent of Sunday school; anthem, "Hymn of the Angels," choir; responsive Scripture reading, led by Mr. Heins; "Joy To the World," congregation; reading, "A Legend of Cathay," Alfred Bonney. At this place in the program the Cradle Roll department, under the supervision of Mrs. Wellman, entered, bearing gifts of food, which were placed at the foot of the cross. A song by the beginners' department, "Jesus Came to Earth," was sweetly sung, and their offering made to the cause through Mrs. Wagner.
A song by the primary department, with Mrs. Langdon, leader, "Away In the Manger, No Crib for a Bed," preceded an array of gifts from the class to be added to the increasing amount. A Scripture reading by the Junior department came before the substantial offering by the class. A hymn by the choir, with reading by four girls, "There Cane Three Kings Ere Break of Day," was followed by a recitation by Evelyn Magahtan, a member of the Intermediate department, "They Gave of Their Treasures," which the department did.
Through Mr. Coate of the Senior department, and Mr. Lewis, of the Young People's Department,
Mrs. W. B. Holland and children will go to Huntington Beach to enjoy their Christmas and for a few days visit with friends. Mr. Holland is absent in the east and will not be able to get home for the holidays.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Kaley are anticipating a visit from Mr. andd Mrs. V. E. Theodorff, of Los Angeles, over the holiday season.
Harry Stankey and Frank Sesma have returned from a three week's visit in San Francisco and Sacramento, making the trip by auto.
Pola Negri is seen in the California in "Gypsy another version of the story," "Carmen," and action. There are other cluding vaudeville pro-

A reading by Miss Coate followed,
with a hymn, "Hark, Hark, My Soul,"
by the congregation, closed the program and benediction was pronounced
by the pastor, Dr. Geissinger.
The spirit of the "White Christmas" was especially beautiful, the
pleasure of giving far exceeding that
of receiving. What would make two
truck loads of food and cloothing was
donated by the classes, every one in
the Sunday school contributing. After
local needs are satisfied, the remainder will be sent to orphanages. A collection was taken late in the evening
for the benefit of foreign needs, particularly the Far East, and the Russian funds.
The smaller children of the Sunday
school were treated to boxes of goodies which were hung upon the Christmas tree, but their interest, too, was deepest in the giving.
CHRISTMAS DINNER TONIGHT
One of the prettiest of the Xmas
season dinner parties will be this evenning, when Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Rebman will carve the great American bird at 6:00 o'clock. Mrs. Rebman has her rooms very tastefully decorated in the predominating Xmas colors. Favors and cards will mark places for the host and hostess, Mr. and Mrs.
J. J. Omelia, Mr. and Mrs. J. O. Reed
and children, Ruth, Frances, Marjorie
and Donald.
