O.E.S. OFFICERS ENTERTAINED BY MATRON-PATRON
OFFICERS and committee members of Chippa chapter, O.E.S., were guests yesterday at a one-oclock luncheon served in Masone hall, when the retiring worthy matron Mrs. E.H. Adams, and worthy patron, Mr.J.A. Clayes, took this nice method of showing their appreciation of the co-operation and support given them during the year.
Mr. Clayes was detained during the afternoon by his duties at the high school, until after three, so Mrs. Clayes graciously assisted Mrs. Adams in the duties of hostess. The large, round table was centered with a pretty bunch of flaming poinsettias and covers were laid for twenty. Seasonable place cards marked the covers and pretty little souvenirs of the occasion were given.
Five hundred was the amusement of the afternoon and prizes were won by Mrs.T.J.Lyons first, and Mrs.Robert Beat, second, Mr. Clayes made a brief talk to the company, telling them of his pleasure in the working with them during the past year, and told, too, of the benefits of his membership in the Eastern Star. Mrs. Adams thanked the officers for their helpful work in the year now closing in a short talk. Mrs.J.P.Brasstad responded for the officers in her characteristically charming manner.

STOCKTON TO MAKE
BID TO GET MEET
STONCKTON, Dec. 8. Stockton will make a strong bid to bring the track meet of the California Interscholastic Federation here next April.
Homer S. Toms, vice principal of the Stockton high school, will attend the annual meeting of the C. I. F. in Los Angeles, and will urge on that body the selection of Stockton as the place for next spring's meet.

F., the meet rotates from section to section of the state every year. Last year Berkeley had it. A couple of years ago Fresno had it. It is due to be in this region this year. Sacramento and Chico have already entertained the C. I. F. there, and several other cities are not prepared to furnish the facilities.
The business men of Stockton have guaranteed to back up all nee-
