Garden Grove News GARDEN GROVE, Nov. 15—The local C. of C. will meet in regular session at the C. of C. building this evening at 7 o'clock. Many important matters will be taken up at this meeting and a good attendance is desired. The Tuesday Afternoon club was entertained at the home of Mrs. R. M. Fay, northeast of town, this week. This being guest day the following guests were present: Mrs. Harris of Santa Ana, Mrs. H. A. Johnson of Anaheim, Meredames P. N., Larson Carter, Valle E. M. Dozier P. M. Magnusson and Stella Valle. The afternoon was spent playing rock followed by refreshments of ice cream and cake. Miss Ruth Violett, a junior in the department of music at the Oregon Agricultural college, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. C. C. Violett, has received one of the highest honors which may come to a woman student at the O. A. C. When Miss Violett was selected from the group who tried out for the position as pianist of the college orchestra, she received an honor which comes to only a few college women and which means much to those few. Ruth Violett is a member of Enterple the O. A. C. local honorary fraternity in music. The purpose of the fraternity is to promote a higher appreciation of music. Its membership is chosen from the regular music students who show greatest ability in this line. Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Henry entertained a few friends and relatives at dinner Wednesday evening in honor of her husband's birthday anniversary. Coverers were laid for Mr. and Mrs. James Henry of Santa Ana, Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Hardy, of Fullerton, Mr. and Mrs. George Miller, Mr. and Mrs. Ed.Shields and Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Henry. Mr. and Mrs. F. E. Harrison entertained the following with a 6 o'clock dinner at their home in Olive Heights, last Sunday evening. E. M. Donter and family, Frank Rogers and family, H. A. Bodenhamer and family Miss Mae Crist. J. Frederick is building a house on the lot which he recently purchased in the home tract. G. L. Beardsley has started the construction of a six-room house on the lot east of his home on Acacia-st. Mrs. H. C. Umphress returned home from the Annheim Sanitarium Thursday where she underwent a serious operation about three weeks ago.
