BIG S. S. CONVENTION
CLOSES LAST EVENING
(Continued from page one)
vitation from President Godber, to "come back again next year."
Dr. J. A. Gessinger today issued the following statement:
The 52nd annual convention of the Sunday School Association of Southern California has gone into history.
Those who have have connected with this work for years state that this without doubt was the greatest convention this association ever held.
It will be remembered as the convention at which all of the Sunday school enterprises of So. Calif. were merged into one.
The officials publicly stated that no other city had ever surpassed Anaheim in the hospitality extended to the visiting delegates.
It was expected that 500 delegates would register and pay their fees. Over 600 actually registered.
It was expected that 1500 would be in daily attendance. It is estimated that more than 2,000 were in Anaheim each day.
By the kindness of the citizens of Anaheim ample provisions were made for the care of those guests who wished to stay over night.
Dr. Hugh Gibson stated publicly that he had seen the Pageant, "The Rights of the Child," given on the opening night by about 100 young people from Anaheim, but that he had never seen it given so well.
There was general praise for the fine way in which the women of the Anaheim churches took care of the guests with their dining room service. Also the local restaurants came in for their share of recognition.
The parade surpassed all expectations. By actual count more than 500 cars were in line and the film made of this demonstration will be used in news features and also in convention programs.
The association brought to Anaheim what was certainly as fine a program as has ever been given by that body and all those who attended the sessions of the convention remarked about the high standard maintained throughout the meeting.
YOUTH FALLS AFTER RELEASE FROM IONE
That Glen, W. Brophy, 18, sentenced two years ago from Orange county, for robbery, and later paroled, failed to mend his ways, is indicated by his arrest in Los Angeles, on a charge of issuing a fictitious check for $100.
Brophy's arrest not only recalls his sentence to lone reformatory from this county, but reveals that since his release his career had been more or less checkered. Some months ago he was taken into custody in Los Angeles on a burglary charge, and caused a sensation by declaring that he had been chloroformed when a confession was wrung from him.
Arrested yesterday, Brophy is said to have confessed to having purchased, with the worthless $100 check, some jewelry which he was found attempting to sell to a second-hand dealer, according to the police.
Brophy, whose home is at 104 1-2 So. Cummings-st., Los Angeles, was sentenced in the Orange county courts for the alleged robbery of R. A. Gibbony, tender of an old station near San Juan Capistrano, on Sept. 2, 1919.
Following his release on parole, Brophy is said to have been befriended by Mrs. Angelina Kauffman, wealthy Los Angeles benefactress, who received his promises of future god behavior.
ANCHORS DIRIGIBLE
To enable dirigible balloons to land without assistance from the ground an anchor which buries itself in the earth when dropped, has been invented, fitted with a rope that will stretch greatly before breaking.

The dainty spread prepared by Mrs. Moore under the breezes at the city park was fully enjoyed by the representatives of the 15 clubs of Orange-co. The object was to make arrangements for the coming convention at Santa Ana next week. Fullerton and the clubs in northern end of the county hope to entertain the visiting delegates and other club woman with a luncheon at the union high school cafeteria, on Friday the 18th.
A delightful picnic luncheon and motor ride was enjoyed by the C. Strong family, who entertained at dinner, Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Stephens, and enward accompanied by Arthur Bridow, and brother Clarence, spent the afternoon at Brookside park, Passeder.

The local convention committee desires to thank the mayor and city trustees, the Chamber of Commerce, the school trustees, the merchants, the citizens and especially the daily papers for their splendid co-operation.
JAMES ALLEN GEISSINGER,
Chairman Convention Committee
Geo. G. Allen, of the parade committee, issued the following statement:
"On behalf of the parade committee, I wish to take this opportunity to extend our hearty thanks to the garage men of Anaheim, Mr. Clayes and Mr. Kellam, for the high school busses, and all others for their willingness."

the furnishing of cars for the transportation of delegates in the big S. convention parade Thursday afternoon through Orange county.
"This is just another proof of the good fellowship and willingness of our business men and citizens to let no good cause go unassisted or to fail to give a boost for Anaheim and Orange-co.
"The expression of appreciation, praise and surprise, that were heard on all sides from the visiting delegates as was unfolded scene after scene of beauty industry and prosperity, many for the first time realizing why we are so enthusiastic about our county, we feel amply repaid for any effort on our part necessary to make it the success it was.—Respectfully, GEO. G. ALLEN."
