DESCRIPTIVE TALK ON BRAZIL CITIES HEARD AT CLUB
WITH their usual graciousness, Mrs. Hugh Bell and Mrs. Allice Hapgood entertained the ladies of the Orangethorpe Country Club at their cozy home northwest of town, yesterday afternoon. While the needles flitted through fancy work, Mrs. Ledyard Bailey, of New York, but who, with her husband, has out recently returned from South America, gave some wonderfully interesting information and description of the quaint, although busy, cities of Buenos Aires and Elo Janeiro. She had many photos and other pictures of the public buildings the architecture of which is considered unusually beautiful.
Another guest of the club, also the house guest of Mrs. Bell and Mrs. Hapgood, was Mrs. Eugene Hapgood, of Salt Lake City, who is a newly acquired resident of Anaheim vicinity. Light refreshments were served at the close of the afternoon.
Members of the club present were Mrs. O. C. Skinner, Mrs. William Schulte, Mrs. Henry Cook, Mrs. Chas Smith, Mrs. Johnson, of Fullerton, Mrs. Hapgood and Mrs. Bell.
COMING MARRIAGE NOTED
One of the very pretty complimentary affairs of the season was tendered to Miss Louise Seddon at her home in Balboa last evening by a number of her friends, being a surprise miscellaneous shower. The inspiration for the party was the announcement of her coming marriage to Mr. Gene Carter. The party was an afternoon of pleasure.
Miss Seddon was led from the parlor to the dining room and here, to her surprise, a Japanese umbrella was spread open on the rug and to the end of each rib was fastened a gift. The following hours were spent in watching the surprised honoree unwrap her presents. The rooms were THE pretty home of Mrs. William LeDue, on North Los Angeles street, was additionally beautified yesterday afternoon with yellow chrysanthemums and other yellow fall flowers; the occasion being a social compliment paid to Mrs. Clark Chamberlain, who, before her marriage about two years ago, was Miss Katherine Enearl, by the hostess, Mrs. Newman Sanford.
Mr. and Mrs. Chamberlain and their little son have returned to Anaheim to make their home, after having lived ever since their marriage, near Chicago, and their friends are more than pleased to learn they will again reside in Sunny California.
The ladies passed the afternoon talking of the days when they were girls together, and of the many occurrences during the absence of their friends in her eastern home, meanwhile keeping their fingers busy with needlework. A delicious three-course buffet luncheon was served about 4:30, the appointments for this feature also being in keeping with the color motif for the party.
Greeting Mrs. Chamberlain were the Mesdames Robert Hainlin, Ben Yorba, Rex Gibson, Leo McGavren, Dean LeDue, A. E. Hargrave, Ben LeDue, A. R. Enearl, William LeDue, Miss Ruth Coons and the hostess, Mrs. Sanford.
VISITING LADY ATTENDS CLUB
The West End Country Club was enjoyably entertained yesterday at the home of Mrs. Ed. Marion on Garden Grove road. Clusters of fall flowers graced the tables and corners of the rooms in honor of the occasion, and lent a cheery tone.
Mrs. Clark, of Coachilla, was a guest of the club and greatly enjoyed being a member of the party. Others present were the Mesdames Robert Hainlin...

COTERIE CLUB HAS GUESTS
Another of the enjoyable afternoons such as the Coterie club passes on every second Thursday of the month, occurred yesterday at the home of Mrs. Elva L. Lesher, on W. Broadway. The usual club was augmented by two guests, Mrs. Arthur Arnold May and Miss Elise Jessurum, who served as substitutes.
Several games of five hundred were played, the high score going to Mrs. Henry Husmann, to Mrs. Lester Eldson, second prize was awarded, and to Mrs. Henry Heying, the consolation. Delicious refreshment was served after the games, and the fine points of plays were discussed.
Seated about the tables were Miss Jessurun and the Mesdames Henry Husmann, Henry Heying, Lester Eldson, Richard Groos, Emma Gribben, Charles Leusch, William Lake, H. A. Schindler, Fred Mang, Grace Halliday and the hostess, Mrs. Lesher.
The next meeting will be held with Mrs. Gribben in December.
HIGH OFFICIAL VISITS HERE
A very important meeting occurred in Masonic Temple last evening when Royal Arch chapter received its official visit from Grand High Priest Mattison H. Jones.
The chapter is virtually a new one, now working under dispensation, and the Royal Arch degree was conferred upon three candidates at the meeting. A 6:30 o'clock dinner was served, its excellency putting the high official and others in such excellent frame of mind that the work seemed to go along unusually well. Mr. Jones gave an eloquent thirty-minute address, and short talks from others also were contributed.
Visitors from several communities were present, among them several fraternal brothers of Mr. Jones, from his home town, Glendale.
MARRAGE LIENSES
John W. Thornbarrow, 34, and Marion Elsle De Jonghe, 19, both of Irvine.
