Y'S CANNON WILL BOOM FRIDAY
One shot from a cannon owned by Alexander Henry, of Anaheim, will signal the hour for the two-minute pause at Santa Ana Friday in joining millions of patriotic citizens of the nation in paying tribute to the unknown American soldier whose body will be buried in Arlington cemetery, Washington.
Flags on masts should be at half mast until 9:02 a.m. and then raised to full mast. In this connection, attention was called to the fact that proper observance requires that the flag be run first to the top of the mast before it is lowered to half mast. Also, it was pointed out, in lowering the flag it should first be run to the top.
It was reiterated that during the two-minute pause in honor of the unknown hero, all persons should face to the west, in accordance with President Harding's request.
The Santa Ana Legion post asked today that flags be floated from all masts in the city and that private residences and business buildings be decorated with the colors. It asked also that during next Friday's parade hats be removed and persons stand still and cease talking when the colors are passing.
"We desire to make the celebration truly patriotic and ask the co-operation of citizens in making it such," said a member of the local post today.
Col. S. H. Finley, grand marshal, and D. W. Tubbs, general director, today were completing the organization of a list of aides for the parade. Finley will lead the procession, mounted on a charger, immediately following on horseback will be F. M. Grigsby, commander of Sedgwick Post, No. 17, G. A. R. and D. W. Tubbs, representing Santa Ana Post No. 131, American Legion. Finley is a Spanish war veteran, and the three men will lead the parade as representatives of the last three wars. Riding with them at the head will be City Marshal Sam Jernigan and a representative of Sheriff C. E. Jackson who is absent from the city.
W. L. Tubbs will be chief of first division, Americanization, and Brea band will be available also.
J.C. Metzak, secretary of the Santa Ana Chamber of Commerce, will direct formation of the fourth division, welfare work, with the Orange County Auto Trades association band and the Mexican community band.
COLLISION REPORTED
Report of a collision between cars driven by A. P. Dunn and C. D. Campbell, on the highway between Anaheim and Long Beach, was filed with the sheriff's office by Dunn, who resides in Long Beach. Dunn's Ford was considerably damaged in the collision, Dunn stated.

NO STATE WITNESSES BUT DEFENDANT HELD
With no witnesses summoned to appear against him, Frank W. Johnson, accused of writing a worthless check, did not hear a decision in his case at the hands of Justice J. B. Cox. The preliminary hearing was continued to Dec. 8, at 10 a.m.
Johnson and his attorney, Charles D. Swanner, appeared in court, but it was announced that no witnesses had been subpoenaed. Johnson asked that he be reeleased on his own recognizance, in order that he might attempt to straighten up a cheek charge hanging over him in Los Angeles county. The court declined to do so, or to lower his bail, which has been fixed at $300.
