SPORTING EVENTS LOCAL SCRAPPERS WIN AT SAN BERDOO Anaheim boys won their bouts at San Bernardino last night. Both Jack Iman and Albert Leo scored knockouts. Iman stopping Jimmy Torbett in the third round while Leo put over the crusher on Joe Moody in the first. The match between Moody and Leo was a return go. Moody having stopped Leo in two rounds several weeks ago over at the Gate City but last night sure enough. The Orange-co boy reversed matters. Both boys showed up well and made a good impression with fight bugs of Berdoo. Other results were: Johnny Adams beat Bobby Ward of Salt Lake in four rounds after a snappy fight. Bobby Barton won over Tony Navor while Danny O'Brien and Young Thomas came thru with a fast draw. Billy ORANGE TEAM WILL MEET POLY NOV. 11 Orange versus Santa Ana, on Poly field, Armistice day. The contest with Orange is the only one remaining on the schedule this year, and a victory will give Santa Ana an opportunity to enter the semifinals. The contest was scheduled to be played in Orange, but in view of the clash, and that the Orange high school grounds have not sufficient seating capacity to care for the crowds it was decided to play the game here. FIFTH OF GOAT IS MILK RAYLEIGH, Eng., Nov. 4. — A record yield of milk was reported taken from a goat belonging to Mrs. Mary Potton. The goat weighed 100 pounds and furnished more than 20 pounds in milk. Darnley of the local club refereed all bouts. A good turnout witnessed a good show. at Weber's SALE OF Agent’s Sample Line OF WASTE PAPER BIGGEST — BEST — BUSIEST AMERICAN DYE WORKS of Los Angeles 34 years' experience Ladies' Short White Gloves Cleaned Free with Each Garment, 4 DELIVERIES A WEEK Phone 697 166 W. Gabardine Overcoats $30.00 Southern California's utility overcoats, shower-proof, light enough for comfort; heavy enough for warmth. Extra values, too. JACKSON'S MEN'S WEAR SHOP "Your Money's Worth Always" ANAHEIM MAIN EVENTERS IN TIP-TOP CONDITION When clever Johnny Mover and that scrappy youngster, Young Stanley Ketchell, climb thru the ropes to fight the main event tonight out at Sparks' flistic farm, Anaheim fans are going to witness just about the classiest 'lift old scrap that has been pulled off hereabouts in some time. Both boys are in tip top shape to set a fast pace and each is determined that there shall be a decisive winner so, according to that means, a real fight. There will be little to choose as regards weight of height or reach it appears to be a very evenly matched couple and that is what fight bugs like. So just tab this go as the real thing for these two birds can and will fight. The semi-windup between Big Jack Iman, the Santa Ana mixer and Bill Burns, from the Olinda oil fields, also is coming in for its share of interest. Both are fast for big fellows and ready willing mixers with a real punch. Jack is out to redeem himself for the quick K. O. that Steve Dalton slipped over on him a couple of weeks ago and if he gets by Burns O. K. wants another crack at the hard-boiled Vernon gent. The prelimits look exceptionally promising for some good material is down on the program. Clarence Rubidoux, baby brother of the famous Ad, will tangle with that Cyclonic little darky of local fame, Young Burton. This mill alone should be well worth the price of admission. The fur sure will fly here as it should also in the fraces between Joe Chaney, the Whittier phantom, who will meet Albert Leo, instead of Joe Cappelle, who has taken a run out-powder at the last moment. Evidently Chaney suddenly showing a K. O. Wallop, has scared the San Pedro battler a bit and he is not taking any chances. Lee should give Chaney a hard tough fight and if he connects on the Whittier boy's jaw, it means curtains. Leo scored a clean cut K. O. over Joe Moody over at San Bernardino last night and expects to repeat on Chaney tonight. In the curtain raiser, Paul Dardenella will try to hang the crape on another of the famous citizens of Placentia in the person of Young Frankie at 122 lbs. Announcer Frank Tausch will send them on their way at 8:30 o'clock and Billy Darnley will referee all bouts. If it's from Witman's it's good. Lawson Heaters are absolutely odorless. FAIRYLAND THEATRE WEDNESDAY, NOV. 9 RUSCO & HOCKWALD PRESENT NEW YORK, Nov. 4 — I am always thinking up clever advertising for mythical enterprises, because one gets so fed up with some of the stuff which is always bobbing up before you. I was in the recording laboratory of one of the big talking machines recently and had a very good time. It seemed so ludicrous to see a huge jazz band mounted on dance stools of varying height blowing away into one little horn which was recording their wheezes, without any apparent point or purpose. But as I came out of a side door and looked over to the main entrance to the room, I saw a typical spread-footed colored janitor, leaning up against the door, his ear firmly fastened to the crack, absolutely carried away by the seductive notes from within. As he stood there he was the best picture for an ad I have ever seen. I could think of many slogans for my ad: "Gets 'em right here where we make 'em"; "The help won't work for list'nen"; but like so many other night and expects to repeat on Chaney tonight.
