NEWS OF FULLERTON HEAVY SHIPMENTS FROM FULLERTON There were 14 cars of tomatoes 18 cars of walnuts and 24 cars of orange shipped out of Fullerton last week by the various packing houses of the city. It was learned today, six cars of tomatoes were shipped out of Fullerton this week by the American Fruit Growers, nc., and eight cars by the Orangetco. Produce Growers' Ass'n. The tomato market fell off this week because of the threatened strike, but it is expected to "pick up" again next week. The houses in Fullerton have packed every day just the same. The American Fruit Growers, Inc., have shipped 10 cars of nuts, and the Benchley Fruit Co. eight cars. The Placentia Orange Growers' Ass'n. shipped 24 cars of oranges this week. P-T. A. MEETS TUESDAY The P-T. A. will meet tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 at the grammar school where they will conduct their regular business meeting. After the meeting the school orchestra will entertain the mothers. ENTERTAINS S. S. CLASS Miss Viola Lyons entertained her Sunday school class at her home Friday evening. A short business meeting was held and then the young people spent the rest of the evening playing games, after which refreshments of Cake and ice cream were served. MASQUERADE PARTY The Epworth League of the First Methodist Church of Fullerton will enjoy a masquerade party at the recreational building of the church tonight at which they will participate in a tomato celebration. ENTERTAINS ENDEAVOR Miss Bernice Griffin entertained the Junior Endeavor of the Christian church, with a masque party at her home Friday evening. Halloween decorations were used, and everyone came in costume. The usual games of the season were played and later the guests were served with coffee, doughnuts and pie. BIBLE CLASS ENTERTAINS WEAR HARD-TIMES COSTUMES Miss Irma Robinson gave a party at her home at Buena Park Saturday night in which the guests were gowned in hard-time costumes. The home was decorated in Hallowe'en effects, and was in celebration of Hallowe'en Prizes were given for the best costumes and also "booby" prizes. Prizes were won by Mr. and Mrs. John Andrews, and the "booby" prizes by Miss Florence Smith, and Lawrence Webber. Guests were Miss Catherine Uttenweller, Miss Juanita Simpson, Miss Irma Robinson, Miss Mamie Sharpe, Carli Snyder, Miss Gertrude Nelson, and Richard Nelson of Buena Park; Lawrence Sharpe of Los Angeles; Ernest Renney of Cypress; Miss Florence Smith of Norwalk; Mr. and Mrs. John Andrews of Olinda; Nick and Alfred Hile of Anaheim, and Lawrence Webber of Buena Park. HALLOWEEN PARTY Mr. and Mrs. T. Burgess entertained a number of their friends with a Halloween party at their home Saturday evening. Halloween features and colors decorated the rooms, and everyone dressed in costume. Games of the season were played, and then everyone enjoyed refreshments of pumpkin pie, doughnuts and coffee. Those who enjoyed the hospitality of Mr. and Mrs. T. Burgess were Messrs and Meadames Elly of Long Beach, C. Gracett, D. Boe-dee, G. Storey, Jackson, C. Wood and daughter, Helen. WIND MURLS MAN 10 FEET C. D. Elly, a employee of the Union Oil Co., at the Chapman pumping station, was the victim of a painful injury Friday. The roof of a large tank containing oil had been blown partly off, and he and several others were attempting to fix it. A strong gust of wind suddenly hurled him some ten feet, and caused him to light on his head. He was knocked unconscious and was taken to the Fullerton hospital. It is thought that the injuries will not be serious, if no further complications set in. ART EXHIBIT AT BI SCHOOL The Laguna Beach Art exhibit will be seen all this week at the Fullerton high school art and domestic science building. If was learned this morning at the office of J. E. Plummer, principal. Visitors are invited. The art exhibit will be taken away Friday evening. Decorations of the season were cleverly arranged about the church and everyone was in costume making a weird looking sight. Games of the season were played and then the guests, which numbered about 60 were served with doughnuts and coffee. PUPILS VISIT LOS ANGELES Twenty-four students of the Fullerton grammar schools, with C. A. Marey, principal, and other escorts, "toured" in Los Angeles Saturday, "taking in" a number of the points of interest. This is the first touring trip of the season. RETURNS FROM EAST Mrs. M. Smith returned last night from an extended trip East, where she visited friends and relatives in Colorado, Oklahoma and Kansas. She has been gone about two months and altho she had a trip she is glad to be home again. HELD FOR DRUNKEN DRIVING Dalilaberte was arranged before Judge French in Fullerton police court this morning on the charge of driving while infollicited. Ball was fixed at $500. He gave a cash ball of $300, and was permitted his liberty. He will be given a preliminary trial before Judge French Nov. 22. HALLOWE'EN PARTY Miss Eleanor Copp gave a Hallowe'en party Saturday evening to her friends at her home at 246 West Amerige-ave, the home being decorated with Halloween colors, and the guests masked and dressed in comical costumes. Games were played and delicious refreshments were served. Guests included the Misses Hazel Ellis, Margaret Davis, Ethel Barker, Laura McCubrick, Milfred Osborne, Vina Smith, Elizabeth Hiltcher, Mabel Eleanor Copp, and Mesara Gerald Riley, James Stephens, Albers Dodge, Collins Smith, Paul Tagart, Harold McCubrick, Teddy Wicker-shelm, and Paul Selverson. WONDERFUL FLORAL EXHIBIT The formal opening of the domestic science and art building at the Fullerton high school was a great affair; there being one of the most wonderful floral exhibits on record as well as a good program rendered. Floral exhibits were from Anaheim and Fullerton florists. R. P. Mitchell, county superintendent of schools was over to see the exhibit, and "take in" in the program. Ferreshments were served during the evening. HALLOWE'EN CARD PARTY The ladies of the Thursday Afternoon club entertained their husbands with a dance. ART EXHIBIT AT HI SCHOOL The Lagum Beach Art exhibit will be seen all this week at the Fullerton high school art and domestic science building. It was learned this morning at the office of J. E. Plummer, principal. Visitors are invited. The art exhibit will be taken away Friday evening. OCTOGENARIAN SUCCUMBS Mrs. W. H. Allen, of East Commonwealth-ave., Fullerton, nearing her 80th birthday, died this morning after having been an invalid for two years. She is survived by a daughter, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Funeral services will be announced later. FULLERTON BRIEFES Funeral services were held at 10:15 a.m. today from the Seale funeral chapel for Daniel S. Finley, 26, who died from a relapse of having been "gassed" in France. Rev. E. J. Statton of th Presbyterian church officiated. Decentest is survived by his widow and one child. Interment was in the Loma Vista Cemetery. G. W. Eates and wife left Saturday over the Santa Fe for Stuehonsville, Ind. Mr. and Mrs. E. Stone and Mrs. P. Woodward and children were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Delocier of Eagle Rock over the week-end. Friday evening a delicious chicken dinner was served, and then the children enjoyed a Halloween party. The Fidells club of the Baptist church is giving a card-party at the church this afternoon. The executive board of the C. W. B. M. of the Baptist church will hold a business meeting at the church this afternoon. Mrs. P. W. Kimball of Los Angeles was the guest of Mrs. G. E. Roscoe yesterday. Mrs. Plummer and family and Mrs. M. Jones and son, motored to Santa Monica yesterday. Mrs. Durbin spent yesterday at Long Beach visiting her sister Mrs. H. Babcock. Miss Ruby Schlell attended the masquerade ball at Placeman Saturday evening. Van Tatton is in Los Angeles today on business. P. Tidus who has been ill at the Sanitarium in Los Angeles for a month is home again, and is very much improved. Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Noonan of Fullerton were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Butler of San Bernardino yesterday. Mrs. M. E. Rowland who has been east for a three months' visit with relatives returned Saturday. She states she had a very pleasant trip. M. Mitchell was in San Pedro Saturday on business. "The Son of Wallingford," a picturized novel by George Randolph Chester, will be seen again tonight at the California theatre. Also the noted Grammar headliners: "The Griffin." Hallowe'en features and colors decorated the rooms and a regular menu for the season was served. Five hundred was the amusement of the evening. Playing were Dr. and Mrs. M. H. Heldman, and Messrs. and Mesdames Kimber, Bacon, J. Carpenter and daughter, Clever, W. R. Richie, Dingman of Long Beach; J. Hill, Mrs. Bosdee, Mrs. King and daughter, Mrs. R. Kelley, Prizes were given to the gentlemen only. Mr. J. Hill won first prize, Mr. Dingman, second, and Mr. Kimber took the booby prize. ENTERTAIN CLASS Mr. and Mrs. L. Cookson entertained their Sunday school class with a Hallowe'en barn party at their ranch home on Orange Tract. The barn was decorated with Hallowe'en features and a 6:30 dinner was served from a cleverly decorated table. Everyone came dressed in gingham aprons and overalls. Games were played, and they everyone enjoyed a sightseeing ride around the country on the tractor. Those present were Rev. and Mrs. Montague, host and hostess Mr. and Mrs. L. Cookson, Messrs. and Mesdames F. Taggart, H. Sievers, E. Stone, H. E. Moulten, N. Harlow, E. Harlow, E. A. Johanessen, F. Dunbar, E. Corcoran, Gibbs, E. Vanderburg, C. Vanderburg, J. Oxlas J. Richardson, R. C. Millen D. Burdofs, H. Rich K. Shossmer, J. Mattox R. Walker, O. Evans, A. Launer. ENJOY TOUR OF CITY Twenty-two pupils of the Fullerton grammar schools, the highest students in art and domestic science of the 7th and 8th grades, spent a large part of Saturday in Los Angeles on first touring trip of the present school term. The first place of interest visited was Bishop's Confectionery and manufacturing terminal, that the students might see how the produce is distributed. Dinner was taken at the B. and M. catereria. The students then visited Exposition park and studied the art exhibit and California landscape and also collection of pre-historic animals." Visits were also made to the agricultural building. The flower show was also "taken in," and the students returned to Fullerton late in the afternoon. Grammar School Notes The baseball game with Orange-thorpe Friday resulted in two victories for Fremont. The first team registered 8 to 9 after seven innings. The second team scored 10 to 9 in nine innings. The games were played on the Fremont diamond. The principals of Orange-co., Grammar schools will meet with Supt. R. P. Mitchell this evening in Santa Ana for the purpose of discussing the new arithmetic texts. The books seem to be complicated and the meeting is relative to that. CITY BRIEF'S W. J. Heins was a Huntington Beach visitor today. Misses Ruth and Alice Pannier were dinner guests yesterday of Miss Edna Hochull. A.H.Heying will spend tomorrow in Los Angeles. Mr. and Mrs.Fred Heins were Los Angeles visitors today. Frank Mentgomery spent yesterday in Los Angeles. Allan Hains attended a Hallowe'en party in Puente on Saturday evening. Mr. and Mrs.J.O.Reed and family and Everett Parks motored to Long Beach yesterday. Mr. and Mrs.Hasson and Mr.Mrs.Elmer Hasson were Long Beach visitors yesterday. Accompanying Misses Peggy Schneider and Ruth Reed to Pomona college were Messrs Henry Hodges, Everett Parks, Misses Florine Coykendall and Frances Reed They spent the week-end here with their parents. Witman, Eyresight Specialist Now Playing California Theater SCENE FROM "THE SON OF WALLINGFORD" The big Oriental pageant staged by J. Rufus Wallingford and his partner, Blackie Daw, in order to start a building boom in Fairlawn City, is one of the big scenes in "The Son of Wallingford," the big Vitagraph special production. In the picture they are seen invigilating the banker, Henry Beegoeda, into backing their scheme. City Briefs Misses Anna Degryse and Ruth Gotchalk spent yesterday afternoon in Orange-co park. Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Ruick motorized thru Santa Ana Canyon yesterday. A merry party composed of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Muckenthaler, Mr. and Mrs. O. A. Milies, Mr. and Mrs. V. N. Bonnat and Miss Viola Muckenthaler and Mr. Fred Hays and other friends motored to and Mrs. Richard Heitshusen of Brea took their lunch and enjoyed the day. Contrary to their wishes, there was no snow on the ground. PRESBYTERIAN CALENDAR Tuesday evening, regular meeting of the session. Every member is urged to be present. Wednesday evening at 7 o'clock sharp, will be the meeting of the Sunday School workers. A good attendance is desired and all are urged to be on time so we may adjourn to the prayer service promptly at 7:30. Wednesday evening at 7:30, the regular prayer and praise service, at which the ninth meditation upon the "Life That Wins" will be taken up. The special topic for the evening is "Christian Science and the Life That Wins." Everyone is asked to keep in mind the fact that on Nov. 8, 9, and 10, the State Sunday School convention will meet in our city. More rooms, together with breakfast, are greatly needed for our visitors. Anyone who can finish entertainment is asked to report to Geo. M. Ross as soon as possible. The pastor was made happy the past week when the congregation surprised him with a substantial cash gift to aid him in purchasing an auto, which will be a great help in his work. The C.E. Society held a very interesting meeting last evening. Mr. Herbert Oelke was the leader. These meetings are steadily increasing in interest and a cordial invitation is extended to all young people who have no other place for worship. The children of the Sabbath school have now become accustomed to their new classes and programme and are ready for new work. As a start they have set Sunday, Nov. 13, as the day for a special collection to aid in the purchase of electric light fixtures for the new manse. Don't forget the date, Sunday, Nov. 13. Those winning awards for perfectly learned Golden texts during the past month were Bernice Bremer, Josephine Cook, Ellen Gibbs, Edwin Beebe, Paul Sloop, George Sloop, Winifred Beebe, Magaret Hartraft, Miriam Sloop, Yutaka Yans and Marshall Beebe. The Plain Dealer today received a card from Charles Federman, local business man who is visiting in the cast. It was mailed in Chicago, and stated that he was safe and well. He said the weather is fine in the Windy City but that there is no place like Anaheim. Mr. and Mrs. L. Goble and Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Clark and son, Albert, visited Long Beach with relatives who are spending several months there from Arizona. E. S. Goble has returned to his home in San Bernardino after visiting with relatives here. Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Sebastian were guests in San Bernardino yesterday of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Holcomb, close friends of the Sebastians. Mr. and Mrs. H. T. Hathaway are attending to business matters in Los Angeles today. Mrs. J. H. Garnett, Mrs. J. L. Adkins and Miss Elizabeth Dickensen were guests of friends yesterday at a dinner party in Hollywood. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Guthrie, A. D. Guthrie and Mrs. Ninnie Guthrie, of Long Beach, were guests yesterday of Mr. and Mrs. S.J. Paschal and Mr. and Mrs. E.H.Adams. Mr. and Mrs. H.O. Henderson are planning to leave Wednesday for Long Beach where they will make their future home They will be greatly missed from Masonic and O.E.S., as well as other social circles They have been guest of honor at several social affairs within the past week. Mr. and Mrs.W.Weely and laughter, Ellen, of Venice, were guests of Dr.and Mrs.H.G.Carlin yesterday.Mrs.Neely will be remembered by her many friends here as Miss Helen Browning. Among those who attended the Hellowen dance given by the Yoeman lodge in Fullerton Saturday evening were Mr. and Mrs.John Martin and Mr.Mrs.Fred Scott. Mrs.D.Woodward and little daughter have gone to their home in Plaenca from the McKim maternity cottage,and Mrs.Wm.Lanier, of Anaheim, with her young son, returned to her home.The births occurred within one hour of each other, both at the cottage,the babies now being two weeks old. A.So.Cul.Auto club exhibit has been placed on exhibition at the Golden State Bank, in a very artistic arrangement. Oscar Heyling,Percy Rust,Denah Hassen and Leo J.Sheridan attended the football game Saturday between U.S.C.Cand Pomona. Mr.和Mrs.A.E.Clark,and Mr.Mrs.L.Goble spent yesterday visiting in Long Beach. Mr.和Mrs.Paul Methorn and children,Helen and Will were visitors at the Flower show in Los Angeles yesterday. Miss Ceell Rolling left today for her home in Bellevue, Iowa after visiting with her sister,Mrs.W.J.Helms for the past two months. Miss Louise Denton was the weekend guest of her mother in San Diego.
