Society: Clubs: Lodges: Churches TRIPLE BIRTHDAY PARTY AT HOME OF J. SCHNEIDER MR. and Mrs. J. SCHNEIDER entertained at a birthday party last evening in honor of their two sons, Charles and Henry, and their grandson Everett, whose birthdays all fell upon October 13. Red and white chrysanthemums made the rooms gay and cheery with their bright bloom, and gave hint of the fall season, which the Southland recognizes only in change of flower rooms. Music was a feature of the evening, interspersed by vacation stories and other conversation. Law refreshments were served in which the huge birthday cake was a portion, serving as a centerpiece on the dining table. Members of the party were the messers, and Mesdames Charles Schneider and family, W. C. Clark and on, Ed. Schneider and son, Rolla Luering, Oscar Schneider, Fred Schneider, C. E. Stevens and son of Santa Anna, and Henry Schneider and the host and hostess, Mr. and Mrs. J. Schneider. The three honorees were recipients of many nice gifts relative to the occasion. BABY CELEBRATES BIRTHDAY Little Miss Ruth Winifred Perry,aughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Perreached the charming age of two years yesterday, and in the evening as joined by a few relatives at dinner.Her Grandma Perry baked a beautiful birthday cake, ice it in white and adorned it with two pret- little pink candles, which Babyuth delightedly blew out, first having explained to each person with whom she talked that the cake was my cake." Helping her enjoy the anniversary ere her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Perry er uncle, Dr. W. W. Adams, her grandmother, Mrs. Nannie Perry and er cousin, Virgil Rush. WORK FOR COMING BAZAAR The Loyal Women's Class of the priest church had a very interest- LADIES OF WEST END EMBROIDERY CLUB IN FALL MEETING MRS. FRANK FREEMAN, of Garden Grove road, was hostess yesterday afternoon at a prettily appointed party given to members of the West End Embroidery club.Great clusters of dahlias decorated tables and other places of advantage in the living room, and the dining room was trimmed with deference to the Hallowe'en season.The table bore pumpkin faces and black cats and place cards were of like kind.The ladies busied themselves with their needlework, many of them preparing Christmas remembrances while they visited.They also discussed their vacations the past summer.Passing the afternoon together were the Mesdames Albert Sparkes, Chandler, C. G. Sparkes, Estella Johnson, E.A. Sparkes, E.D. Marion, R.A.Sparkes and the hostess, Mrs. Freeman. WELCOMES NEW MEMBER Meeting with Miss Hazel Withee last evening,the members of the Chat'En Seau club spent a very happy social time together.A pretty bouquet of roses furnished the center piece for the table.The members chatted and sewed,as the title designates.Mrs. F. Very much work was finished and the ladies feel proud of their accomplishment. Another comrt was tied for the bazaar that is be held soon and bazaar commites were appointed. The ladies talk about the banquet that will be given for the men of the Bible class is evening in the Nash garage, pretty Hawaiian music was played in the Brunswick. The ladies present were Mendames J. Pitts, Geo. Alexander, Geo. Dean, Geo. McGuire, eddis. King, J. Bell, N. J. Robberts, L. Bowen, Ver Breck, A. D. Walce, and the hostess, Mrs. H. Bowen. PLEASANT AFTERNOON A very pleasant afternoon indeed as that of yesterday for members of the West End Country Club as they met with Mrs. F. D. Miller, on Vanclia avenue for a season of five hundred. Mrs. J. E. Scott was the best player of the afternoon and was awarded first prize, while Mrs. Jamesiffree was given the consolation ward. A tasty light luncheon followed the games in which the players were the Mendames J. E. Scott, James Tuffee, Eric Lamhofer, Herbert Sullivan, Tom McFadden, George Myers, Idney Chapman and C. H. Robinson, all of Placentia. Mrs. J. W. Sollis ofullerton, and Mrs. Harry Sears, Geo. Umsmoor and Miss Nina McLellan, L Anaheim. PENOCHLE GUESTS OF RILEYS The Penochle club met with Mr. and Mrs. Harry D. Riley last evening at their home on North Lemon, then the club members enjoyed a even o'clock dinner preceding the games. The dinner was served in four courses, the table being centered with fall flowers. Bouquets were used generously about the living room so. Ladies prize was won by Mrs. Kathaway and Ralph Maas was vicarious among the men. All members are present except Mr. and Mrs. Idnam, whose places were filled by Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Prince, the Sidams being on a visit to Colorado. LUNCHEON AND CARDS The E. Z. Card club was entertained yesterday afternoon at the home Mrs. L. Bahlman at her pretty country home. Pretty bowers of flowers were used to make the living room more cozy. At the luncheon that joyous the hospitality of Miss Wilne were Mendames: H. K. Boyd, Welcome M. Ward, Frances Scott, Gus Prescott, R. E. Campbell and daughter, Margaret Emily, N. L. Anderson, A.F.Withee, Misses Florence Hamil, Viola Elliott, Evelyn and Lillian Degryse, Valle Pember and the hostess, Miss Hazel Witheer. One of the great pleasures of the evening was welcoming Mrs. Prescott into the society as a new member. ATTEND YUCAIPA FAIR Mr. and Mrs. J.P.Mayhow returned last evening with their nephew, L.H.Harling, in Riverside. While away they attendel the Yucalpa fair, which they enjoyed greatly. The apple display was pronounced wonderfully fine, and the other booths contained displays equally interesting of fruits and other products raised in the locality. The fancy work made a large display and consisted of all kinds of needlework in latest fashions, which would make Modern Priscilla green with envy; it is said. The activity of the Women's club in serving excellent meals was a feature praised by everyone who partook of their viands. It is the opinion of Mr. and Mrs.Mayhew that this is one of the best fairs staged in the Southland. SCHULTE HOME MEETING for the first time this season, the Euchre club was entertained at the home of Mrs. A. Schulte, Pretty carnations and dahlias were used to make the rooms fragrant and to lend color. The prizes were awarded to Mrs. F. Cole, first; E. Hartung, second; and Mrs. C. F. Trimm, consolation. At the close of the afternoon, Mrs. Schultz assisted by Mrs. Schulte, of Pasadena, and Mrs. Vischler of Fullerton, served a two course luncheon. The ladies present yesterday were: Mesdames C. F. Grim, F. Cole, E. Hartung, J. Hartung of Venice; Miss Dora Zeyn and Mrs. Holcomb of Fullerton, Arthur Lewis of Santa Fe Springs; A. Rimpau, Fred Rimpau, H. Strodhoff, J. Janss, J. J. Dwyer, F. COTERIE CLUB PLAYS CARDS The ladies of the Coterie club passed a very pleasant afternoon yesterday when they met at the home of Mrs. Grace Halliday, 125 Walnut st., to spend a few hours in five hundred. Three tables were occupied and several rounds of the game were played. Scores showed that Mrs. Richard Groos won first prize, Mrs. Henry Husman, second, and Mrs. Lester Edison, third. After the games, Mrs. Halliday served her visitors with refreshments, the guest list including: Mesdames Henry, Heying, William J. Lake, Charles Leusch, Marvin Lesher, H. A. Schindler, Ernest Bloch, Emma Gribbin, Richard Groos, Henry Hussmann, Lester Ericson, Miss Elsie Menicke. Admiration is a short-lived passion that immediately decaps upon growing familiar with its object, unless it be fed with fresh discoveries. AN EVENING AT KROEGER HOME An evening of five hundred was enjoyed last night at the home of Mr. and Mrs. L. Z. Kroeger when they invited a number of their friends in for a card party. The rooms were prettily decorated with chrysanthemums and cosmos. First prizes went to Mr. and Mrs. Nowatny, and Mrs. Tausch and Mr. Martenet won the seconds. After the game a delicious two course luncheon was served to the guests, who were Messrs. and Mesdames A. Nowatny, F. Tausch, J. E. Baker, Will Houte, A. Erickson, E. E. Brus, M. M. Martenet, and the host and hostess, Mr. and Mrs. L. Z. Kroeger. YET ANOTHER CARD PARTY The Wednesday afternoon five-hundred club was entertained at the home of Mrs. Frank Bush. When the scores were taken, Mrs. Wm. Cordes was awarded the first and Miss Ella Pudlam the second. Light refreshments were served at the close of the afternoon. The members present were Mesdames Wm. Cordes, R. Schaffer, J. Molt, Karsten, Sandersfield, L. Frahm and the hostess, Mrs. F. Bush. AUTO MEET TO SAN DIEGO A number of members of the Orange Co. Auto. Trades Assn. will attend the convention of the southern division of the California Automobile Trades assn. at San Diego next Monday and Tuesday. Officers of the association will be present, including Robert Martland, popular secretary of the state association. FINISHES CENTERPIECE The Embroidery club met yesterday and finished the beautiful white center piece on which all members have been working and which will be presented to the member of the club having the nearest perfect attendance.
