The "barbette" carriage allows a maximum elevation of 65 degrees and will probably eliminate the disappearing gun carriage for coast defense rifles. EXPECT AGREEMENT ON SURTAX RATES WASHINGTON, Oct. 8.—Majority members of the senate finance committee today were expected to agree to the tax revision bill amendments drawn by Republican leaders.
