NEW LAW ON LOADS IS NOW EFFECTIVE With the new county ordinance limiting the load weight for auto trucks effective yesterday, truckmen are giving attention to the necessity of keeping within the provisions of the law, which the county authorities have signified their intention of vigorously enforcing. Questions of tire width and type, number of wheels, distance between axles and number of trailers have assumed new importance under the recently enacted ordinance, which has been adopted not only in Orange co., but also by Riverside and San Beernardino counties. REVENUE AGENT IS WARNING EVADERS Anyone who turned in an income tax return that is a bit on the blas is likely to be cited for a session with Elmer E. Burns, representative of the collector of internal revenue, in Santa Ana. A careful audit of returns is being made by a force of men in the Los Angeles office. "The audit so far," said Burns, "has disclosed a vast number of tax evasions, more particularly in relation to accounting for profits in sales and trades of property. In every instance where an error is discovered the one making the report will be notified to appear before me." Burns left for Los Angeles today to be absent from his office here the remainder of this week and for probably two or three days next week. He is to be engaged in the audit that is now being made. Returns from Orange-co concerning which question has been raised by any of the auditors will be turned over to Burns and brought back to Santa Ana with him. NEW STEP TAKEN IN SHIPPING BY WATER Orange-co citrus growers were greatly interested today in the information received from Los Angeles, to the effect that definite steps toward the shipment of fruit by water to the eastern markets are being taken by the California Fruit Growers' exchange. Approval by the directors in Los Angeles of recommendations made by the exchange's special committee, headed by Vice President C.S. Whitcomb, assures action toward carrying out the preliminary details of securing tonnage guarantees and of financing the water shipping scheme.
