WOMEN'S INTEREST IN BOXING GROWS
When the song opens the main event at the new Legion Boxing Arena on No. Los Angeles st., tonight some wild fire stuff can be expected by the fans when Ghet Neff and Henry Castine begin to swing mitts. Both are of the slugger type and have always held up their end in previous bouts.
George Moss, past master of the art of fistcuffs, will tangle in the semi-windup with Joe Martin.
Three matting good preliminaries have been promised the fans and from the lineup some hot action can be expected.
Al Thomas and Young Romeo start the ball rolling following the curtain salute and are followed by Gus Williams and Battling Frankie. Leo Houck and Young Frisco meet in the tournai bout. The initial bout will be announced at the ringside.
According to reports the new arena is one of the most comfortable in the southeast, all of the seats being roomy and elevated so that a good view of the ring is obtained from any angle. A new feature in local boxing circles will be the uniformed seconds.
Contrary to the average feminine viewpoint, boxing is as much enjoyed by women as men. Women patrons are becoming more numerous at boxing shows over the entire country and the local clubs are getting their share. However, many fans believe that women will become more pronounced at contests in the future and the new club has made arrangements to care for their comfort.
All and all it looks like the new club is getting away to a good starter.

FAST OPPOSITION FOR ELKS SUNDAY
As the advises come in, it appears that Manager Pete Hax has selected a still team for the workout Sunday for Anaheim's champ Elks pastimers or Commonwealth field. Fullerton, The opposition, the A.E. Little Co. team of Los Angeles, has proven the biggest drawing card of the summer league at the home field of the fast Alexander Giants. The Little team won one game from the Giants 2-0 and lost the other 0-8 in 12 innings.
The Little team has also defeated El Segundo, Diamond Tailors, Pacific Readi-Cuts, Lankershim, L.A. Shipyards, L.A. Police, San Gabriel and other teams.
The visitors' linkup Sunday will be McAlpine, ss.; Gillespie, 2nd; Glendenning, M.Lightfool, c.; Kirkland, 1st; Maiden Rodax, 3rd; Little cf.; Siggler, II; Max Rodax and Stray Hevle, pa.
The Little manager writes Manager Hax that an effort will be made to bring Al Miller who has just issued in Los Angeles after a sensational season on the mound in the Western Ass'n where he was the premier pitcher and who is now receiving offers from Coast League managers. Miller is the only pitcher in baseball who regular leads off the batting list. He plays the field when not on the mound.
His coming would be of particular interest to local fans as he is a brother of A.L. Miller, wellknown Anaheim man.
ATHLETIC CARNIVAL CREATES INTEREST
The Elks Athletic carnival planned as a benefit for the baseball fund promises to be one of the most popular diversions of the season. It goes without saying that the treasury is going to be gratifyingly assisted, which will be necessary if the championship Elks baseball team is sent to Santa Cruz to battle for the state title with San Francisco.
The athletic program is rapidly being rounded into shape and by tomorrow it is expected the complete card will be announced. Efforts are being made to secure Steve Dalton and a fit running mate for the principal four-round event at the show which is to be staged next Tuesday night at Sparks' Flatic Farm.Tickets will be on sale tonight at the debut of the Legion arena on No. Los-

KID MEXICO WINS
OVER BERT TRIBBY
All the Delhi Club show at Santa Ana last night Kid Mexico won a decision over Bert Tribby of San Bernardino after four hard fought and fast rounds. It was a tough fight throughout but not as fast or as spectacular as their previous meeting two weeks ago, when they went thru four rounds of milling that bordered on the sensational. Tribby did not appear to be in the condition that he should have been to box a boy of the class of Mexico. At that, he was always dangerous and Mexico had all the respect in the world for that "Big Bertha" that Tribby is known to pack with him. Mexico earned the referendum award, principally on his aggressiveness, for throughout the four rounds he forced the going. Tribby was strong in the exchanges and several times rocked Mexico with solid rights and lofts.
In the semi-windup, Eddie Mackey of L. A., and "Iron man" Kaspar of Bakersfield, went thru the four rounds to a draw in a bout that was full of comedy and real fighting combined. It had the big crowd present in hysterics half the time at the antics of Kaspar, who is a first class comedian as well as fighter.
In the preliminaries, Jack Spar won the award over Sailor Rollins in four rounds after a fast battle. Norman Holmes was given the medal over Carl Eckart in four rounds and Young Holmes and Battling Herrera went thru four dazzling rounds to a draw in the first bout. A good crowd witnessed the first bout. Billy Daruley of Anaheim refereed.
