Yorba News
YORBA, July 29. (Spl.)—Messrs D. J. Stambro, R. B. Watson, of Corona, and Harry Stambro went to Huntington Beach or a fishing trip Saturday, remaining until Sunday. Mr. Stambro, who had taken a large bunch of string to bring his fish in, got his fishing line and the string all mixed at some interesting point in the game and the vallage grossip says that perry, not liquid, were the supposedly coining words heard on that part of the beach for the benefit of the ash hence the high color sunset-like on the sky at the beach whist that particular fishing party lasted. Who caught the fish? Curiosity, perhaps, to see what is was all about.
Before we forget, Mr. Plain DeLert A man here in Yorba living within a mile from where we are writing this came and told us emphatically and seriously that he wished to see many and striking news items from Yorba at least as many as from Placentia (2).—His name begins with S—now, after reading the above account of Messrs. Stambro et al.'s fishing party and corresponding effects, etc., will the gentleman kindly acknowledge that we have beaten Placentia, for who, from Placentia, has ever done such a striking thing; or even caused such colorful (collar-full?) effects on the beach that ever called Placentia their home town? No one, we say, then to consider that is was not out of whole cloth, but just a piece of string.
(Hope S is satisfied—V. C.)

NEW DEER SEASON DATES ARE RAPPED
Strong and tough deer will be the reward of the hunters who bag game in districts Nos. 2 and 4, in the opinion of W. D. Adkinson, deputy game warden.
His opinion is passed on the lateess of the opening of the deer season in those two districts. In No. 2 the opening date is Aug. 1, next Monday, and it will be legal to kill bucks until sunset of September 14. In No. 4 the season will be from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15. Orange-co. is in the latter district.
The open seasons have been placed a little late for the best results so far as the quality of the meat is concerned, according to Adkinson.
"The opening dates named for these two districts might be all right for the mountainous sections of the state," said Adkinson, "for conditions there differ, but in the coast sections the animals are restlessly moving from one locality to another and are thinner than at any other season. In addition the new dates throw the open season practically at the beginning of, the deer breeding season; when the meat is strong and more or less tough.
"I venture to say that in the closing days of the season there will be a number of animals killed whose meat will be absolutely unfit for food."
Opening the season in the third district a month in advance of the fourth menses that many hunters from Orange-co. and other counties in the district will go to the northern district for their early hunting. The deer-slaying forces of the state will concentrate on the up-coast district for a full month.
"The special portions of No. 3 district where deer may be found in greatest numbers are in sections of Santa Cruz, Monterey, San Luis Obispo, Ventura and Santa Barbara-cos. During the season any huntsman may take the limit of two bucks, but no does, fawns, nor single spike bucks may be taken nor any venison offered for sale.
In the opinion of Adkinson the game laws are practically dictated by regulations from the larger cities who know very little of real conditions of the region and make the season divisions without that information and knowledge that should direct them in framing game laws.
Alleged Gravestone Trust Under Probe
LOS ANGELES, July 29. — The county grand jury today continued its investigation of the charges that in violation of the Cartwright antitrust law a "combination" is conspiring to keep up the price of markers and other gravestones. It was claimed by the small dealers that if they refused to set high rates they were unable to obtain supplies from quarries.

PLAN BIGGER FIELD IN NEW YACHT DASH
Plans were under way today by the Newport Harbor Yacht club greatly to enlarge the field of entrants for the next sailing race from Balboa to Catalina and back, which will be run some time late in August. It is understood.
The race for the Commodore Claude G. Putnam silver cup was called off last Sunday because both the Uncas and the Viking IV struck a calm and were forced to break the seal on their engines and return to Balboa.
According to P. H. L. ("Doc") Wilson, who skippered the Uncas, many boats from all over Sok Calif were kept from entering the Catalina launt because they wished to be in the best trim possible for the regatta of the Pacific Yachting association Aug. 6 and 7. As the next race of the Newport club will not be staged until late in August many of these craft are expected to file entries in the dash for Commodore Putnam's trophy.
