ANNUAL ELECTION OF LA HABRA CHAMBER LA HABRA, July 20. The election of officers at the annual meeting of the Chamber of Commerce resulted in the re-election of all the incumbents. Bay Pruzzi, president; George Young, vice president; L. M. Hopper, secretary, and A. H. Johnson, treasurer. C. O. Cook was placed on the road committee. G. S. Hilbert was appointed as chairman of an advisory committee of five. The committee visited Santa Ana last Wednesday to arrange for the petition which will be presented to the supervisors soon. The school trustees of the grammar school attended the convention of trustees and principals at Santa Anna Wednesday. These were: J. B. Chaffee, E. E. Proud, and F. W. Taylor. The Robertson family, consisting of Mr. and Mrs. William Robertson and Miss Happer and her brother Harold; Miss Ruth Peabody and a niece, Miss Kate Boyd, from Santa Ana, left Friday for a two weeks camping trip to the Yosemite Valley. They are prepared to stop wherever night over takes them and will pay the one tire two weeks. Mr. and Mrs. John Akers and children, Elizabeth and John Jr., have just returned from an extensive trip through the Santa Barbara mountains. While away they visited friends in Santa Barbara, Fillmore, Sespe and Los Angeles. Mr. and Mrs. Dove Linsey have spent part of their vacation motoring to Fillmore where they visited a brother of Miss Linsey, Bernie Stanford and family. Then over to Big Bear lake on a fishing joint and home by San Bernardino. The last few days will be spent at Balbon. Mrs. Nellie La Monte, Mrs. H. M. Little, Mrs. H. A. Robinson, Mrs. Walter Griffin and H. A. Robinson were in attendance at the Pacific branch of the Foreign Missionary society at Long Beach, last Wednesday. Cars for rent without drivers. 129 N. The work is being done by Shields and head. The Alamitos baseball team will play the local M. E. church team on the latters grounds next Friday evening. The union meeting of the local M. E. churches was held at the M. E. church Sunday evening with the Rev. Walter F. Grigg of the Baptist church having charge of the services. Next Sunday evening the meeting will be held at the Bablist church. Miss Lella Chaffee has accepted a position as teacher in the Mamehameha school for boys in the Hawaiian Islands. She will leave here about August 21. Mr. and Mrs. G. Reyburn and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Carter, of Los Angeles, spent Saturday, at the Orange county park. Mrs. Welling, of Orange, and daughter, Mrs. Nash, and two children, of Hanford, were visitors at the George Reyburn home Sunday, Mrs. Wailing was a resident of Garden Grove about 25 years ago. Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Blair and family spent Sunday at Seal Beach. Miss Olive and Minel Northeros are spending this week at Laguna Beach. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph French and busy spent Sunday at Laguna Beach. C. A. Emerson and Dr. F. P. Pound enjoyed Sunday at Long Beach. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Beardsley and E. Beardsley returned home Friday after spending a week at Little Bear. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Carter, of Los Angeles spent the week-end at the George Reyburn home. H. A. Lake and out of town friends motored to Scuola park Thursday, returning Sunday. A. G. Nevertheless this company is still in the field and is making hole on Germain No. 2 at 2900 feet and is digging in hard sand. The Columbia Oil Co. has two wells on which water tests are being made. Scott-Arnold No. 1 is testing at 2567 and Adobe No. 4 at 3014. Little progress is being made by the La Merced Oil Co. Calkun No. 1 failed to get a shut off on water at 2745 and the well is standing. Manly No. 1 is fish out 8-inch casing, the work is going slow. It will be necessary to do further work on shutting off water on this well also before a producer can be secured. The Petroleum Midway put P. & B. No. 2 on the pump at 3535. The new well started at a hundred barrels. Baldwin 7-A is drilling at 1700. No. 11 Baldwin's fishing at 3265. On the German lease 1-B is drilling on iron at 3745. Prugh No. 9 is beginning to look good at 3100 where drilling is in hard sand. Barry No. 4 a new well is building rig.
