SWEETS CELEBRATE 44TH ANNIVERSARY
WEST COAST, July 15. (Spl.)—Mr. and Mrs. Frank Sweet celebrated their 44th wedding anniversary on July 12 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. William Mussall, 25 children and grandchildren were present. Mr. Sweet had a birthday also. Relatives presented them with a beautiful wicker rocker and a handsome hunting knife. It was a complete surprise to the couple. Everyone present had a fine time and lots of ice cream and cake.
Mrs. George Johnson and children of S. Valencla-ave, were West Coast callers Thursday at her sister's, Mrs. Howard Flynn.
Morroe Chambers motored to Fullerton Wednesday afternoon on business.
Opal Gimpse of Walnut-at., Brea was visiting her little friend, Ursula Keen, Monday and Tuesday of this week.
Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Snaveley are moving into their new home on S. Pomona-blyd, at Brea.
The Nazarene Pilgrim church of Olinda had their Sunday school picnic at Orange-co, park Tuesday of this week.
F. A. Boulger was a Santa Ana visitor this forenoon.
Lynn Huffman is sporting a new Dodge coupe these days.
Stean Glisson on Coyle run is driving a new Oakland roadster.

Mark Park, wife and two daughters, Catherine and Erma, and son, Keith, and young lady follend-were Catalina visitors last Sunday. Mrs. Ford and the daughters will spend the week at the island.
Mr. and Mrs. Samuel E. Parry and Mr. and Mrs. Eernest Campbell motored to Pomona East Monday.
Next Friday, F. A. Boulger will start on a two weeks' trip with his wife and three children for General Grant park. They will motor to Virginia and join relatives, W. E. Laudram and family, who have their summer camp at this park. They anticipate a grand trip.
Mr. and Mrs. Shopke and son, Orville, of Santa Monica and Mrs. Ford Blodgett of Anahiem were guests of entertaining Miss Willametta Preston of Los Angeles for a few days. Miss Preston has returned from a three-month visit in Vermont.

BREA, July 15. (Spl.)—Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Suillivan, Mrs. Suillivan's father, Mr. Dutton, and Jud Dutton and Anna Gipson of West Coast lease are expected home today after spending a few days at Big Bear.
Mr. Zerba of 140 S. Walnut-at., was a La Habra visitor at his brother's home.
Rev. W. E., Fanning returned home Wednesday morning after a several weeks' absence. He reports his father much improved in health.
Ms. Thomas Norris, who has been visiting her sister Mrs. Pettit, will return home soon.
Mrs. Lester Douglas and her lady friend, of Los Angeles, were Brea visitors Tuesday at Mrs. Vallandigham's at the J. Y. Shop on Pomona-ave.
Ms. Vallandigham will spend Thursday at the Grwood Apartments, Los Angeles, with Mr. and Mrs. Douglas and friends.
Mrs. Norman attended the funeral of her niece Wednesday. Interment at Annheim cemetery.
LEAK IN CASING AT RICHFIELD GIANT
PLACENTIA OIL FIELDS, July 14. (Spl.)—The Richfield Union's Porter No. 1 is experiencing great difficulty in shutting off the water preparatory to bringing the well in. After having cemented off for the fourth time the cement still refuses to set due in what is believed to be the action of certain chemicals in the water. A sample of the water has been taken to Riverside for chemical analysis.
The "Richfield Giant" water job had been satisfactorily completed and preparations were being made to bring the well in when a leak was discovered in the casing. Nothing further can be accomplished until the leak is repaired.

Mr. Ebberlite of Los Angeles is quite busy over the lease getting some pictures to color as he is in that business. He is a frequent visitor to this lease.
Leonard Cariker has been transferred over near El Mirado to drill. He and others have been drilling on the West Coast lease, James E. Robertson goes to and from Huntington Beach every day as he has been transferred to that place indefinitely.

GRAVE PROBLEMS
THEME OF CHAMBER
GARDEN GROVE, July 15.—The Garden Grove Chamber of Commerce held their regular monthly meeting in the Y. M. C. A. building Monday evening.
The meeting was called to order by the president, Dr. C. C. Violett, and the minutes of the last meeting were read by the secretary, George R. Reyburn.
Dr. Violett gave an interesting account of his airplane trip to the chamber of commerce secretary's convention at Burbank. He also told of the high school at Burbank and how the Burbank people helped to build up the town. The president hopes that the Garden Grove people will take an interest in and help to build up the new Garden Grove union high school.
Dr. Violett received thanks from the Garden Grove chamber of commerce for attending the Burbank meeting and congratulated him on his courage in making the trip by the air route.
Dr. Violett talked on the unsanitary conditions of the camping ground near the M. E. church and R. B. Rickey. E. Anderson and S. Horowitz were appointed as a camp committee to look for and secure another place for camping grounds.
Mr. Reyburn was instructed to see Mr. Sandman in regard to leaving the lights turned on at the P. E. station until the last car leaves Garden Grove.
The Huntington Beach fair committee is working on the plans for the fair and gathering in the products.
It was agreed that all committees representing the chamber of commerce will have the financial backing of the chamber of commerce and that all committees appointed by the chamber of commerce are continued.
The secretary was instructed to have a news editor attend all chamber of commerce meetings.
The August meeting was cancelled and the next meeting will be held September 12, with a special meeting. C. K. Lee, George Reyburn and Albert Schneider were appointed on the entertainment committee. Music and speaking, or a banquet are in order.
The third week of the vacationable Bible school has started with 120 enrolments.

NAVAL RESERVISTS TO VISIT CLEMENTE
Naval reserve men of Orange-co will have an opportunity to see San Clemente island Sunday, Lieut. J. B. Blee, of Santa Ana, commander of the Orange county unit of the naval reserve, announces he is sending postal cards to the 175 members of the unit in this county, notifying them that a cruise has been arranged for Saturday night and Sunday.

The union meeting of the Methodist Baptist and Free Methodist churches was held at the Free Methodist church last Sunday evening, Mr. McCloud, elder of the same church preached the service. Services will be held at the M. B. church next Sunday.
A very pleasant reunion was held at the home of Mrs. K. S. Hendricks last Sunday, when Bert Dilks and family, of Los Angeles, and H. Baxter and family, of Long Beach met for an old-time visit with their former Sunday school teacher, Mrs. Hendricks. Dilks and Baxter were members of Mrs. Hendricks' class more than 25 years ago in Springfield, Ill.
The day was pleasantly spent in talking over old school days and old times. All met at the Illinois picnic at Loog Beach recently without knowing the others live in California.

NAVAL RESERVISTS TO VISIT CLEMENTE
Naval reserve men of Orange-co will have an opportunity to see San Clemente island Sunday, Lieut. J. B. Blee, of Santa Ana, commander of the Orange county unit of the naval reserve, announces. He is sending postal cards to the 175 members of the unit in this county, notifying them that a cruise has been arranged for Saturday night and Sunday.
"Those who are to go on this cruise must report abroad Eagle boat No. 12 or Eagle boat No. 34 not later than 11 o'clock next Saturday night!" said Blee." The boats are at the ferry landing in San Pedro. The return hour is 5 p.m., Sunday, July 17."
This is the fourth cruise for the Orange county unit, and it is the first with a program taking the men to San Clemente.

The Ford car of Nick LoPorto,
which was stolen last night from in front of the Anaheim postoffice, was found this morning in Santa Ana after the local police force and the Auto Club of So. Calif. had it on not-filed. The machine when found was stripped.
