MASONS BOOST BOY SCOUT MOVEMENT
In furtherance of the plan to create additional interest in the Boy Scout organization in Fullerton and northern Orange-co, a committee of business and professional men composed of C. R. Allen, John Gardiner, Waldo O'Kelly and S. W. Smith has been chosen to have general charge of the movement in the above mentioned territory.
As all of these men are Masons as well as stirling citizens of wide acquaintances and firm faith in the merits of the proposition, it is anticipated that not only will they be able to enlist the interests of the public in general but of the members of the fraternity in particular.
Their aim is to secure one hundred additional scouts, which will give three more troops of 32 members each, in addition to the one troop already in existence here.
The plan adopted is to sell membership certificates, or in other words, to sell boy scouts to 100 men at $10 each, the committee operating in conjunction with the officially designated scout leaders, undertaking to find a scout to match each subscription.
They have selected sub-committees to work in the outside territory—La Habra, Buena Park, Placentia, Brea and the rest are engaged in a thorough canvass of the field, with what they believe to be fair chances for success.

RETURNING NEWLYWEDS
SURPRISED
Mr. and Mrs. Oral Jencks, who have been on a honeymoon in the Yosemite valley since their marriage in Redlands June 22, have returned to Fullerton and will establish themselves in their new home on West Commonwealth avenue. They were no doubt much surprised on arriving at their attractive bungalow to discover that it was already occupied by a thrifty looking ragamuffin family and the family on the clothesline. Evidently enterprising friends had been manufacturing dummies, collecting old shoes and the like, making free hand drawings and inscribing legends for the decoration of the home. The bride was formerly Miss Ruby Roth, teacher in the Fullerton grammar school for the past two years.
ENTERTAINS 500 CLUB
Mrs. Lewis McKelbey entertained the 500 club at her beautiful home on W. Brookdale-pl. Mrs. Glen Evans won first prize and Mrs. McHenry second. After the game the hostess served delicious light refreshments which were very much enjoyed by the following ladies: Mesdames Hughes, George Cook, Russell Bean, Frank McKulby, Glen Evans, H. E. Spencer, Earl Sneider, Guy Walton, Glen Evans, Ralph Clever and C. Perry. A most enjoyable afternoon was enjoyed by all those present.
GARAGE FOR DAVIS & BORN
Alex Henderson, an enterprising and well known pioneer, has let the contract to A. M. Thompson for the erection of an up to date, modern one-story brick building on one of his lots on West Santa Fe avenue to cost $12,000 and to be occupied by Davis and Born, auto dealers.
The new structure will be 50 by 140 feet, and will have a plate glass front.
FULLERTON WILL PAY POLICE CHIEF $235
The entire police department of Fullerton is to be reorganized and enlarged with the advent of a new city marshal about Aug. 1. Arthur Eells of Orange, more recently of Santa Ana, has accepted the appointment at a salary of $235 a month. Eells is now a painting contractor, and his wife is employed in the office of the county engineer at Santa Ana. She declined to discuss the appointment this morning.
The new marshal resigned as deputy with Sheriff C. E. Jackson at Santa Ana some time ago to go into business for himself. He made a splendid record while in the employ of the county. Eells was a sharpshooter with the 364th Infantry and went through hard service overseas. Previous to the departure of his regiment for France he led his organization in marksmanship. He was gassed in the Argonne.
Naming a woman of Fullerton as co-respondent, Mrs. Edward Thwing, wife of the retired city marshal, has filed a suit for divorce in the superior court at Santa Ana.
Acquaintances of the former city marshal, who left Fullerton Tuesday, assert that Mrs. Thwing will be unable to obtain either alimony or counsel fees for the reason that Mr. Thwing has no money and has been unable to save anything. He planned just before leaving here to take a position that would mean at least five years in So. America.
BENCHLEY ELECTED HEAD OF HOTEL CO.
The hotel incorporators held their first meeting yesterday afternoon at 3:30. E. K. Benchley was elected temporary chairman and W. M. Irwin secretary. The following officers were elected: C. C. Chapman, president; vice president, F. C. Krause; treasurer, J. Chas. Thauser; secretary Dan O. Hanlon.
A building committee of three will be named by the new president, it being specified that Mr. Chapman be one of the number.
Altho no stock can be sold until a permit is received from the Commissioner of Corporations, yet much preliminary work can be done and tentative subscriptions can be received.
Work already done along this line has reached a point, it is said, where they believe to be fair chances for success.

FULLERTON PACKING HOUSES SHIP 57
Fifty-seven cars of oranges, including those shipped from the Placentia packing house of the Placentia Orange Growers Assn., were shipped by Fullerton packing companies this week, and four cars of lemons, according to reports made today at the various packing houses in Fullerton.
The Placentia Orange Growers association reported that from their two packing house, the one at Fullerton and the one at Placentia, there have been 29 cars shipped during the week.
The Benchley Co. reported 16 cars of oranges and two cars of lemons during the week, and the American Fruit Growers, Inc., reported 12 cars of oranges and two cars of lemons.
There has been a slight easing up on orange shipments due to the flooded market conditions in the east. Lemon prices however continue high due to the inadequate supply.

CRAIG MAY BUY LAND AT BAY FOR $75,000
That a lease, given by C. L. Lancaster to Geo. L. Craig, C. H. Windham and D. W. Michaels, Long Beach capitalists, on 70 acres of filled land in Newport bay last November also carried with it an option of purchase, was disclosed yesterday when the lease document was placed on record.
The document was signed last November. At that time information obtainable was to the effect that the interests backing the Long Beach Consolidated Oil Co. boring on the mesa near the Orange-co Country club had taken the lease for boring for oil in the tide flats.
The option provisions fixed the price of the property at $75,000. By paying $5000 Nov. 10, 1920, a six months' option was obtainable. At the end of six months by paying $4,000 an extension of the option for three months was provided for.
