HUNTINGTON BEACH DEVELOPMENT BEST In spite of the water troubles, sanding up and other difficulties that have attended almost every well that has come into production at Huntington Beach the development work is going ahead stronger than ever. There is a determination to make Huntington Beach an oil field and this determination is backed by 72 companies in the field, the 70 wells drilling and the 152 rigs that are up. Production is now ranging around 7000 barrels a day. On the Fowler property the Amalgamated brought in No. 1 at 3222 a 600 barrel well, one of the nicest in the field. The oil is 26 gravity, and is coming from the well with the same case that the Western Union's famous Ashton No. 1 started off. The advent of the Fowler well gives the Amalgamated two producers: Huntington 1-A is flowing by heads 350 bbls. Huntington 2-A is cleaning out at 2564. No. 3 is drilling at 2525 and No. 6 is building rig and rigging up. Fowler No. 2 at 2400 is drilling. The Bolsa Chica Oil Co. made a strong attempt to make a producer out of August No. 1 at 2775. At this depth the sand failed to carry much oil not enough to make a commercial well. The Bolsa Chica Oil Co. is satisfied as to the little value of the top sand found at 2200 and will drill on to 2500 feet. The Edens Syndicate No. 1 failed to produce much oil as flowing well and is now being put on the pump. On the beam it will probably make a 200 barrel well. Mr. Phillip Warner, a Los Angeles business man, has taken over the holding of the Huntington-Hawthorne and henceforth the well and lease will be known as the Phil Warner Drilling is now at 1100 ft. The Hurst Oil Co. No. 1 well is not in the producing list yet. Attempts are being made to swab the well and make it flow again. If it fails to flow the rods and tubing is to be put in and the well put on the pump. The property and well formerly known as the Bell of Montebello No. 1 is to be known henceforth as the 1 at 2555 drilling in hard shell. Golden Dome Oil Co. No. 1 is at 1975 in sticky clay, drilling. Golden State Oil Co. No. 1 a rig. Great Western Petroleum No. 1 a rig. Gypsy Syndicate No. 1 standing cemented at 2192; No. 2 drilling at 675 and No. 3 building rig. Huntington Beach Gas and Petroleum Co. No. 1 a rig. Huntington Central Oil Co. No. 1 at 2277, rig burned down. No. 2 at 3100 in hard shell. Huntington Coalings Oil Co. No. 1 building rig. Huntington Crude Oil Co. No. 1 a rig. Huntington Diamond Oil Co. No. 1 partially built. Horwitz and Craig, Issner No. 1 a rig. Huntington Midway Crude No. 1 at 1900 drilling in shale and sand. Huntington Mutual No. 1 a rig standing. Huntington National No. 1 at 2231 set 10 inch and standing cemented. Huntington Owners No. 2 at 2200 standing cemented. Huntington Pacific No. 1 is a rig. Huntington Western Oil Co. No. 1 is a rig. Huntington Signal No. 1 lumber on ground. La Hunt Oil Co. No. 1 a rig. Machris Bros. Syndicate No. 1 at 2875 drilling in shale and shell. Mallis Oil Syndicate No. 1 2255 in hard shell, showing gas. Mid Central Oil Co. No. 2 a rig; No. 1 standing idle at 4100. Metcalf-Hinkley No. 1 at 1900 ft., drilling in shale and boulders. Miller Syndicate No. 1 standing at 3000 cemented, good showing. E.J.Miley No. 1 at 2800 in sand showing oil, drilling, No. 2 rigging up. Milley-Keck No. 1 cemented at 2-590; No. 2 at 2600 drilling by pipe; No. 3, 4, and 5 are rigs. Motor Oil and Refining Co. No. 1 at 2100 feet in shale and boulders. National Exploration Co. at 2300 sidetracking tools. Paramount Oil Company No. 1 a rig. Peerless Oil and Refining Co. No. 1 set pipe at 2695. Petitfills Syndicate No. 1 get pipe at 2205, rigging up cable. Petroleum Midway Bray No. 1 at 2500 in sandy shale, drilling. The Hurst Oil Co. No. 1 well is not in the producing list yet. Attempts are being made to swab the well and make it flow again. If it fails to flow the rods and tubing is to be put in and the well put on the pump. The property and well formerly known as the Bell of Montebello No. 1 is to be known henceforth as the H. J. Moore Syndicate. At 300 feet stove pipe was set and rigging up for the rotary is now in progress. The recent plan to drill Moser Special No. 1 deeper has been abandoned for the time being and an attempt will be made to perforate the 6 inch pipe and put the well back on production. On coming in first about two weeks ago it started off at 250 barrels. The Republic Petroleum No. 1 looks like the biggest well in the east side of the field. At times the well will flow steadily for an hour or more at the rate of 1200 and up to 1600 barrels a day. Sand continues menaces the flow of the oil. The sand is being circulated out with oil and in a few days the Republic well will be in a position to make a demonstration. Republic No. 2 is drilling at 2000 feet. The Sun Oil Co. has been working to get No. 3 on production the greater part of last week. The old enemy of the field, sand, has prevented Sun No. 3 from being a steady producer at 200 barrels. One great satisfaction the well has given is that a perfect shut off was effected on the water. At No. 1 the water shut off was not so successful and the hole was recemented at 2436. No. 4 stands cemented at 2142. No. 2 is a rig building. The Standard's latest good producer is Bolga No. 2 now making close to 800 barrels of 27 gravity oil, the lightest oil now being produced in the Huntington Beach field. On the Huntington lease A-3 has been recemented at 2757, and A-4 at 3138, A-5 is drilling at 2975, A-12 at 1895, Nos. 31 and 14 are rigs, and 9, 10, and 11 stand cemented. Huntington B-2 is drilling at 3650, and B-4 at 2400 feet. B-3 stands cemented at 2955. On the Huntington D property No. 1 is drilling at 2775, and D-2 is a location. Huntington E-1 was cemented at 2520, E-2 is drilling at 450 feet and E-3 is a rig complete. Bolga No. 3 stands cemented at 2571 and will be the Standard's next big well. Jones Community standing cemented at 2800 and No. 2 is building rig. Thompson No. 1 shows 2225 feet of hole. Torrance No. 1 stands cemented at 4104. Surf No. 1 is a small producer making about 20 bbls of heavy oil. Thru sanding up the Texcal's big well No. 1 has been off production several days this week. The property, adjoining the Eddistone Corporation on the east side of the field has been let for drilling on a 50-50 basis. The Union Oil Co. is having a hard battle with the water at Copeland No. 1 and to date has had little success in getting a shut off. Copeland No. 1 was a former producing well, a small well, and was drilled deeper. About all the redrilling seemed to do was to develop water trouble. Copeland No. 2 is building rig.
