NEWS OF FULLERTON
HOTEL COMMITTEE
TAKES OVER SITE
An agreement was reached last night by the hotel committee of the Fullerton B. of T. and Fullerton trustees whereby a site for the new hotel on No. Spadra just north from the city hall was obtained, the terms being the payment to the city of the original cost plus interest at six pct. The property will be transferred from the city to the Fullerton Community Hotel Corp., and if not used for hotel purposes as agreed will revert to the city. The hotel is expected to cost $100,000.
NO BOARD OF TRADE MEETING IN JULY
There will be no meeting of the Fullerton B. of T. this month, it was announced today by William Irwin, secretary; because of the absence on vacation of so many members of the board, and also of Ebell club, who prepare the luncheon.
Instead, an unusually heavy meeting will be held in August, it is stated. George H. Knox of Des Moines, Iowa, a noted author, who wrote "Ready Money," "Leadership" and other books will address the meeting. Mr. Knox is enjoying his vacation at Long Beach.
LEAVE FOR PRESIDIO
William Irwin, Jr., of Fullerton, and Boyd Wellan of Olinda, left at 8 o'clock last night over the S. P. for San Francisco for 30 days' military training at the Presidio, where they are given rations and expenses by the government while training.
EXTEND STREET LIGHTS
Resolutions of intention were passed last night by the Fullerton B. of T. extending the street lights south on Spadra-rd and also north on Spadra-rd to the P. E. bridge. Protests will be heard July 26.

Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Gossettts, Mr. and Mrs. Will Johnston and Mr. and Mrs. Ben Yorba motored to Ventura and other points of interest on the fourth.
Mrs. Emery Ray of Engalls, Kans., is expected the latter part of the month to visit her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gossettts of this city.
Mr. J. E. Meklim is passing the week in Los Angeles visiting friends.
Mrs. Clyde Muybrew, of Lake Tahoe, was called to Anaheim to attend the funeral of her father, Carl Thoerke. Accompanied by her sister, Mrs. Fred Grenemay who will pass the summer at Lake Tahoe, she left Tuesday for Mrs. Clara Fisher, of N. Lemon-at., is in Seal Beach where she will enjoy a week of sea breezes.
Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Elliott are entertaining Miss Gertrude Terry, of Benton, Mich., who arrived this week for several weeks visit.
Mary Emily Jewel, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Jewel has the chicken-pox.
Mr. and Mrs. Orn Weins have gone to Redding to make a visit with Mrs. Weins' parents, Mr. and Mrs. Berg and with Mr. Weins' parents, Mr. and Mrs. Weins.
Mr. and Mrs. Richard Clark of Alpaugh are visiting their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lents.
Mrs. H. M. King is sick this week.
Mrs. Allen Crow and daughter, Ida, spent the fourth at Newport beach.
Mrs. Markam of Fullerton was the dinner guest of Mrs. Allen Crow Friday.
Prof. C. C. Smith, superintendent of Anaheim grammar schools, is driving a new Maxwell, purchased from Turton and Lumsdon.
Miss Irene Mills will begin her summer vacation Friday.
Annie Hopkins of Hollywood will visit Lillian Wagner for a few days this week.

FULLERTON COUNCIL ORDERS NEW BRIDGE
Plans were submitted last night to Fullerton trustees by the city engineer for a bridge across the barranca on No. Highland-ave to cost $14,400. The plans and specifications were accepted and the clerk instructed to advertise for bids.
FULLERTON PERMITS $58,995
Reports of the various city departments for the month of June were accepted and filled last night by Fullerton trustees.
The valuation of buildings for which permits were issued during the month amounted to $58,995.
PETITION FOOTBRIDGE
A petition was presented Fullerton trustees for a footbridge across the barranca last night. The petition was referred to the city engineer for investigation and report.

J. W. Keith of Fullerton who is in the Orange-co. hospital and who was expected to undergo an operation tomorrow, has grown worse and will not be operated on at this time.
Avis and Ruth Knowlton left this morning by automobile for Santa Barbara where they will remain indefinitely.
NAME PROBERS IN MINGO MINE WAR
WASHINGTON, July 6.—Senator Kenyon today announced appointment of a sub-committee of the senate labor committee to investigate the Mingo mine war. The sub-committee consists of Kenyon, Iowa; Phipps, Colorado; Shortridge, California; McKellar, Tennessee, and Walsh, Massachusetts. The sub-committee will meet this week and decide when to begin the investigation at Mingo.

WASHINGTON, July 6. — Uncle Sam today started to collect the "chicken feed" being held out on him. A force of 250 revenue officers directing 2000 deputy collectors are out to collect deliquent sales taxes. Under the head of sales taxes comes the extra pennies on ice cream and soda water, the luxury and semi-luxury levies.

Mr. and Mrs. G. M. Tedrick and daughter, Charlyn, passed the fourth in Long Beach.
Mr. and Mrs. Merl Harris, of Elsinore, called upon Miss Luna Wellman this morning. Mrs. Harris will be remembered as Miss Dorothy Keyes by her many friends here. They were on their way to Los Angeles for a short visit.
Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Weber, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Shaw and children, Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Hodges and Miss Lois Hodges have returned from a short vacation at Laguna Beach.
Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Harmon moved yesterday from Anaheim to Artesia.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry D. Riley are moving today from 604 Zeyn-st to N. Lemon-st.
Wenley Osborne, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles W. Osborne, underwent a severe operation Sunday at the Anaheim hospital He is slowly improving.
Mr. and Mrs. C. N. Todd, Mr. and Mrs. B. M. Todd and Mr. and Mrs Raymond Allen have returned from a short vacation in Newport Beach.
Mr. and Mrs. H. P. Tobias accompanied by their nephew, Lyman Pickrum, and his friend, Paul Coughlan, are passing a week at Big Bear. The young men are from Chicago and a trip to the mountains will be most enjoyable to them.
Mr. and Mrs. W. N. Worrell, of Gardena, were guests over the holidays of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Trudeau. The fourth was passed at Laguna Beach, a visit to San Juan Capitrano Hot Springs, Modjeska's home and to other places of interest.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Trudeau were Sunday guests of Mrs. E. A. Olney in Gardena.
Walter, the son of Mr. and Mrs.Jacob Meng, 606 S.Olive-st., has departed for Walla Walla, Wash., on business.
J.E.McKim is in charge of a patrol of boy scouts enjoying the weekend in Orange-co.park.

Miss Ruth Meyer is in Huntington Beach passing several days with friends Rev. and Mrs. C. L. Knight are in Los Angeles today attending a conference of Congregational churches They are accompanied by Mrs. E. D. Snyder.

Miss Rinchari was taken suddenly this afternoon about three o'clock in front of the Crown stage office, and was taken home. It is that she will soon be alright.
