DAILY CHEFTING TO OUR READERS
The rolling wheel that runs often rounds.
The hard steel in course of their own heat.
And stirring drops that often do rebound.
The armor flint both in continued wear and expansion.
With flowers—and say it no times come to send flowers around to the underfinkers.
The big question is, will Congress really economic, or will it treat government economy as an "iridescent dream."
If President Harding summoned Congress with the expectation and belief that it would do what he asked it to do, with colority, he has time to become disillusioned.
It would be deploitable indeed if General Oregon put himself officially in position of antagonism to the United States and the interests of its citizens in Mexico.
To neglect or to treat shabbily the disabled veterans of the World War would be an inexusible piece of heartbreak on the part of the government and people of this country.
General Wood thinks there should be more political participation in the Philippines; very well; send over some of America's surplus. It can be spare to this country's advantage.
The Pacific fleet is to be greater than the Atlantic fleet. Which decision is wise so far as it goes. Its wisdom would be unquestionable if virtually the whole fleet were stationed in Pacific waters.
Mexico, in attempting to levy extrabill taxes on oil shipped from that country is doing itself more harm than good. To use the homely old figure of speech, it is cutting off its nose to spite its face.
The cost of living official reports indicate, is moving in the direction most pleasing to the consumer.
The government at Washington, at any rate, is not disposed to regard the guarding of the Pacific by naval forces as a negligible consideration. In the division of the United States fleet, the Pacific gets the greater number of diverships and the preponderance of tonnage and guns.
Many a young man envies Charles Garland his opportunity to receive an inheritance of more than $1,000,000. Many a young man who would accept such an inheritance and use it in righteous living would not show any more wisdom than does young Garland who rejected the offered opulence altogether.
Beautification is a desideratum for any city. It is not empty sentimentality which should prompt it, but inherent love of beauty for beauty's sake. Beautification, while sufficient reward in itself in pleasing the aesthetic sense, has utilitarian value as well. The city that is beautiful has a big asset in the very fact that it is beautiful.
Banking in California is in flourishing condition. One of the most hopeful aspects is the fact that so many persons are depositing in banks. The per capita deposits for the state is surprisingly large. This denotes prosperity, thrift, and a wholesome manifestation on the part of the public, of confidence in the banks.
Aeronautics has advanced so much that all over the country steps are being taken to adopt legal rules for the control of aviation. California should look carefully to this. Because of its mild climate and stable atmospheric conditions California is now and will continue to be one of the leading states in extensive use of airships.
Los Angeles is trying to get main hold upon prospective power development.
Congress. The question times, whether or not the situation is unwieldy states would like to have presentations in the House it is questionable when be beneficial to the whole. The conviction among thinking people should be no larger than it is now.
The Creator smiled the heavens and the universe reflects convince smile. Look are green and the alabom and the birds and see that all nature up to "the spacious high" and there see forget-me-nots of the note the twinkling and the moonbeams and loom itself the very jolly, blithesome br cloud, the storm, theceptional in nature exceptional in human just as God, thus nata.

The Pacific fleet is to be greater than the Atlantic fleet. Which decision is wise so far as it goes. Its wisdom would be unquestionable if virtually the whole fleet were stationed in Pacific waters.
Mexico, in attempting to levy extraterritorial taxes on oil shipped from that country, is doing itself more harm than good. To use the homely old figure of speech, it is cutting off its nose to spite its need.
The earlier figures in miserable scandal should not be featured in moving Blotter. There should not be even the suggestion of moral uncleanness in screen productions. The public can make this come to pass.
It is a near crime to stay huddle indoors, here in California, if one has opportunity to get out into God's great open. Keep the children out where sunbeams and pure air may distill energy and constitutional vigor within theirs.
The Fourth of July, to the thoughtful patrol, means far more than the clangorous noise. But the noise is all right. Young America does not feel just right unless it vents its emotions in noise. Let the Fourth be "safe and safe," but not silent.
While the U.S. elects not to meddle in the domestic affairs of Europe or any part of the Old World; yet this country does not assume—nor is there any likelihood that it will assume—an attitude of isolation and indifference to the great problems which concern nations in their relations with each other and upon the proper solution of which depends the peace of the world.
Aeronautics has advanced so much that all over the country steps are being taken to adopt legal rules for the control of aviation. California should look carefully to this. Because of its mild climate and stable atmospheric conditions California is now and will continue to be one of the leading states in extensive use of airships.
Los Angeles is trying to get main hold upon prospective power development on the Colorado river, Arizona and Nevada insist that their interests should come in for consideration. Los Angeles has ambitions which laugh at limits. But this project is a bit more gigantic, it would seem, than one municipality, even though it be enterprising and resourceful can handle successfully.
Every movement for development of agricultural, horticultural and manufacturing production in California is to be welcomed. This state is achieving a great reputation for useful productiveness. It should foster this production. It should be diversified too. To use and to vary the old adage, California should have many irons in the fire, in the matter of productivity. This would stabilize prosperity and would be proof against lean years. For, should there be failure any season, in one thing, other things, prospering normally, would maintain the balance of production.
The time may be near at hand when the people will begin to hope and pray for the adjournment of Congress. To bring about legislative action in conformity with the public will be one of the problems the people frequently face in connection with sessions of

Congress. The question arises, at times, whether or not the national legislature is unwieldy large. While states would like to have their representations in the House increased, yet it is questionable whether this would be beneficial to the country as a whole. The conviction is pretty strong among thinking people that Congress should be no larger in membership than it is now.
The Creator smiled as He created the heavens and the earth, and the universe reflects constantly the divine smile. Look and the fields are green and the flowers are bloom and the birds are singing—and see that all nature smiles. Look up to "the spacious firmament, on high" and thereto see the stars—"the forget-me-nots of the angels"—and note the twinkling smiles. See in the moonbeams and in the gladsome moon itself the very quintessence of jolly, blithese brightness. The cloud, the storm, the gloom, are exceptional in nature. They should be exceptional in human nature. Smile, just as God, thrune nature, smiles.
BUDGET CHIEFTAIN IS MAN OF GREAT VIM
President Harding has prevailed upon Charles G. Dawes of Chicago to become director of the new federal budget system. Former controller of the currency; former brigdler-general in charge of purchases with the American Expeditionary forces; and a baner of long and successful experience, General Dawes comes to this important position well seasoned and well equipped by experience. General Dawes is a man with punch and in this position—which promises to become one of the most important in the government—he doubtless will be a very conspicuous figure.
Examined in a recent investigation into war expenditure, General Dawes used language, in giving his testimony, that was more torrid and picturesque than polite. His appointment will be received with favor throughout the country and under his direction the budget system could be a success from the start.

URGES JAPS TO BE LOYAL TO AMERICA
"Our him is to spread patriotism and loyalty to America among the Japanese people," today stated the Rev. Paul K. Tamura, secretary of the committee on Americanization of the So. Calif. Japanese Church federation.
The Rey. Mr. Tamura is on a speaking trip through So. Calif which will take him to all of the principal towns and cities and will take about three months to cover. He has already appeared at Santa Barbara and Pasadena. He appeared before an audience of 170 at Wintersburg.
From this section he will go to San Bernardino and Riverside and will later visit San Diego and the Imperial valley. In the Americanization work of the church federation, the members are receiving the cooperation of the Japanese Farmers' Assn.
The Wintersburg audience made up of Japanese from that section, Santa Ana and Garden Grove, listened to a talk on "The True Spirit of America" by the Rev. Paul B. Waterhouse; an evangelist of the American Missionary association. The Rev. Mr. Tamura spoke on the subject."What Is Americanization?" and the Rev. T. Wawat, chairman of the Americanization committee, spoke on "Our Daily Life;" in connection with which motion pictures were shown.
A request for funds to aid in the work of the committee was responded to by a contribution of $250.
