Society: Clubs : Lodges : Churches MRS. VIC LA MONT HOSTESS The Wednesday evening five hundred club met last evening at the home of Mrs. Vic LaMont at 126 W. Chartres-st. The hostess had the house delightfully decorated in a color scheme of blue and yellow and on the living room table was a beautiful centerpiece of blue margarites and asparagus fern. The prizes were won by Mrs. Nowotny, 1st, Mrs. Joe Stroup, 2nd, and Mrs. William Blattner, Placentia, consolation. Those present were the Mesdames Wm-Blattner and Fred Cline of Placentia, Len Bonnat, Robert Wilson, Frank Mauer, H. Heying, Joe Stroup, A. Nowotny, Chester Harrison, E. Schneider, Wm. Lake and Fred James. ENTERTAINS FIDELIS CLUB The Tredrick home near Orange was opened yesterday to the members of the Fidells bible class of the M. E. White Temple. It was a most enjoyable and profitable meeting. After the devotional meeting the business was transacted while the ladies were busy with sewing. All money received from garments made at these meetings, 50 of which were made yesterday, will be used for missionary work. Old and new members are asked to be faithful at both class and business meetings. DELIGHTFUL PARTY Little Miss Lucille Goodrich, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Goodrich, 414 W. Broadway, was the hostess at a delightful affair yesterday afternoon when she entertained in honor of her tenth birthday for 24 of her little friends. The afternoon was spent in playing games and romping about the lawn after which Mrs. Goodrich, assisted by Mrs. Reinert, served delicious refreshments on the beautifully decorated table on the lawn, which looked charming, being almost covered with ferns and sweet peas. The refreshments consisted of ice cream and birthday memento which was a large white cake garnished with ten pink DAKOTANS WILL PICNIC The Dicky and Brown counties association, composed of former residents of adjoining counties in North and South Dakota; will hold their tenth annual picnic at Orange-co Park on the last Tuesday of June. Bring a well filled lunch basket, not forgetting the cups for the coffee which will be served free. An excellent program is promised so take a day off and bring along your best smile and any of your Dakota neighbors who will come. Don't forget the date. Tuesday, June 28. Mr. W. J. Elliott is president and Mr. J. P. Root secretary of the association. THIMBLE CLUB MEET The Lois Thimble club will meet at the home of Mrs. F. S. Gates of N. Claudina-st. Friday June 24. Mesdames Frank Machleb, Marie Mauerhem and Dan Naugle will be hostesses. All members are cordially invited. FORMER H. S. PUPILS BANQUET The 1920 class of the Anaheim high school held a banquet and reunion at the high school last night. There were 25 ex-students in attendance. A large number of them had been in college elsewhere, chiefly, Pomona, Redlands, Oregon Agricultural College, and the University of Calif., So. Branch, and there were short talks made by them. There was also a program given. Harry Briscoe gave a piano solo, J. A. Clayes gage a short talk and Oswol Stock played the trombone. Games were also played. ATTEND RICE-STARR WEDDING Miss Margaret Lash, Miss Lillian Dunke, Mr. Raymond Potter and Irvin Seeward were in Redlands this afternoon to attend the wedding of Miss Fay Rice of Redlands and Mr. Edwin Starr, Miss Rice who was formerly a nurse at the Anaheim hospital is well known in Anaheim. The table was beautifully decorated with blue and gold, the high school colors and the young people found their places by their freshman pictures, Mrs. Wallop, assisted by Mrs. A. Nagel, Mrs. A. C. Pearson, Mrs. Oscar Reinert and Miss Kate E. Rea served a delicious four course luncheon. During the meal the young people were asked questions concerning the subjects taken at high school and having answered these faithfully were presented, with miniature diplomas on which the greetings of the women's bible class were expressed in the verses of Phil. 4, 6, 7, 8. Miss Jessie Coons then spoke of the past, Miss Alice White of the present and Mrs. H. A. Johnston, who presided, of the future. As they rose from the table they sang their school song, Blue and Gold, and the recessional, "Lest We Forget." The remainder of the afternoon was spent in music and social chat and looking over the seven blue and gold books of the high school. Those invited were Misses Emma Owens, June Heald, Jessie Coons, Alice White, Lucille Johnston, Marguerite Schneider, Nettle Abbott and Lillis Johnston of the Anaheim High School, and Mr. George Kohlenberger and Ervin Connor, also of Anaheim High school, Miss Hazel Holly of the bible institute of Los Angeles, Kenneth Nagel and Charles Pearson of Occidental College of Los Angeles and Miss Blanche Fulwieder of Fullerton Junior College. Georgians will give an afternoon picnic with five o'clock suppers. Tennesseeans will have an afternoon program and either or both picnic dinners and supers. The Georgians have invited the Alabamans as guests. Hon. Harry T. Burn of the Tennessee state legislature will be the speaker of the day. All former residents of these states are urged to attend. City Briefs Miss Mackey West, a local teacher, and Mrs. Fred Schneider are leaving on Saturday for Iowa. Lee Callahan left today over the Santa Fe for St. Paul. W. H. Burnett left yesterday over the Santa Fe for Maukata, Minn. Mrs. Beerbaum and two daughters left for St. Paul today over the Santa Fe. Drs. MEETING FRI.NIGHT Tomorrow night, Friday, June 24, all the boys of Anaheim holding memberships in the Y.M.C.A.for the coming summer are to have a big time at the newly organized grounds on south Philadelphia-st. There will be an indoor base-ball game between the Reds and the Blues at 5:30 p.m.followed by a super,served free of charge to the boys by the committee.The Blues who are the loosers in the membership campaign which closed last night are to do the serving and dishwashing.Following the supper there will be more games,and then a grand swim,the first of the season in the pool,which has been painted white and is surely inviting these hot days. Saturday the big county Y.M.C.A.swimming meet is to be held at Huntington Beach in connection with the leaders’picnic.All the boys who are members in good standing of any of the Y.M.C.A.clubs in the county during the past year or who are now members of the Y.M.C.A.in Anaheim are eligible to enter.The leaders are invited to be present and to bring their families.Everybody is to bring their own lunch,and come to the beach for a real day’s fun away from the heat.The swimming meet will start promptly at 10 o'clock,and all boys planning on entering should be at the plunge a little before this time in order to register. THREE ON TRUCK ARE NABBED AT ORANGE Eary Bybee,Harry Williams and L.E.Webster,all of Ontario, were arrested at Orange yesterday by Constable Holt on auspicion of driving an automobile while intoxicated and of transporting liquor over a highway. The three men were in a truck upon which had been loaded the fixtures from a restaurant which Bybee had discontinued at Ontario and which he planned to reopen at Huntington Beach,it was stated. (Spl.)—Mr. W. G. Martin and family and Mrs. Kendricks and son, Lawrence are spending the week-end at Big Bear. The Y. L. Boy Scouts and Scoutmaster H. H. Nixon, were entertained with a picnic at Long Beach Monday by the mothers of the Scouts, Mrs. W. E. Hersey, Mrs. Lynn and Mrs. Bornee Nixon, Mr. Ted Combs, swimming instructor of the Long Beach bath house, demonstrated life saving in every detail to the troop, Mr. E. E. Heidt, county scout executive taught the boys swimming and diving. Mrs. Carrie Wildermuth and family of Y. L. are moving into their new home in Fullerton, Monday. Mr. L. D. Pike and family moved into their new home in Fullerton recently. Pat Ryan moved into the house vacated by them. Oil Newst Chap. 18 is drilling at 1625 with Sharp & Hughes bit. Chap. No. 19 is 1320 feet, drilling with a Reed Roller bit. A test is being made between these two wells to which which bit makes the most hole. The G. P. Burnside well, south of Y. L., is standing idle at present. It is hoped to shut the salt water from the bottom of the home and come back up to the oil sand they went through with hopes of getting production there. The Ridge Oil Co. is drilling at about 4256 with but little showing of oil. WOULD HOOK UP BIG PARKS FRESNO, June 23.—San Joaquin Valley commercial secretaries have launched a movement for the making of a road to serve as connecting link between Grant and Sequoia National parks. Over 50,000 people visited the two parks last year. The new road would make a round trip possible between the two and would be one of the most scenically spectacular in the states.
