NEWS OF FULLERTON H. S. COMMENCEMENT ON FRIDAY EVENING Friday night of this week the high school graduation exercises will be held. Rev. Francis of the Flat Baptist church of Los Angeles will officiate and Talbot Bielefeldt will give the valedictorian address. There will be 78 graduates. The annual meeting of the Fullerton H. S. Alumni will be held on the evening of June 21. Arrangements are being made for a banquet, program and dance. LAST P. E. O. MEETING OF YEAR The X. Chapter of the P. E. O. will hold their last meeting of the year at the home of Mrs. S. S. Williamson. The big event of the evening is a stunt party in which each member will participate. DELIGHTFUL SHOWER OLINDA, June 14. A delightful shower was given at Olinda Hall last evening for Miss Gertrude Schryer and Mrs. Freda Woodward. The Orange County Plain Dealer MISS MAY VERTREES WILL TOUR EUROPE Miss May Vertrees, former teacher of Spanish and head of than department at Fullerton High School and Junior College, has left for a three or four year trip through Europe and Asia. Miss Geneva Johnson who holds a master's degree from Stanford and is also a graduate of Whittier College, is her successor. She is spending the summer studying Spanish in Madrid, Spain. Dr. Thomas Newlin, who has been for the past year in charge of the philosophy department of the Junior College, will remain another year and will add to his course of this year, which consisted of psychology and logic, ethics and sociology. He will also conduct a high school class in social problems. Dr. Newlin has been a teacher of philosophy for many years and was president of the Whittier College for eight years. To the Junior College curriculum will be added a two semester course in political science; the first semester will include a study of the government of the United States while in the second semester a comparative study of governments of the world will be taken up. This instruction will be given by Dean Boyce. Plane surveying, especially for the engineering course, will be offered and regular college mathematics will be given. An oil production course is to be provided consisting of specialized work in the Junior and Senior high school years as well as college. Students who have had four years of mathematics, chemistry, and physics will be able to finish the course in two years. This course calls for fifteen hours per week of field study in oil production under the direction of the instructor. Arrangements are being made for those students majoring in English to have a second year course in literature and the same principle is to be applied in courses in biological sciences, so that students will be able to get two year courses in any de- A ROMANCE AFTER DEATH The arrival of the remains of Walter Dyckman, who was killed about two years ago in France, is expected Thursday or Friday of this week. The funeral will be held from the Catholic church and will be in charge of the American Legion. His remains have been brought this great distance in accord with his wish that he be buried beside the body of his fiance, Miss Minnie Ipsen, which lies in Lonia Vista cemetery. WORSLEY WILL BUILD HOME Mr. C. A. Worsley of Fullerton High School has just bought a 41 by 140 ft. lot on W. Jacaranda-st., and building operations will be started tomorrow morning. Mr. Worsley sees no reason why the five room house which Mr. Herbert of Yorba Linda is going to build for him cannot be completed by August. Try Plain Dealer Want Ads. FULLERTON BRIEFSE Mr. and Mrs. N. Frank Morse spent the day, Monday, in Los Angeles on business. Ray Welg, 8 Years of age, who has been seriously ill with diptheria since Friday, died last night. Mr. Osborne reports that Blue Juice oranges are being shipped from here at the rate of two cars a day. Mrs. J. C. Dachman of Minneapolis, Minn., is to be the guest of Mrs. D. C. Cowles for two or three weeks. Mrs. J. J. King and her daughter, Hattie Thompson, drove to Beaumont yesterday to visit the cherry orchards. Mr. and Mrs. P. Endlington are rejoicing over the arrival of a girl last night at the Fullerton General hospital. Wednesday night, at the regular monthly meeting of the Fullerton B. of T., Mayor Lisenby, of Long Beach, will deliver an address. At the same meeting, Mr. Durbin, also of Long Beach, will give an exhibition and detailed description of the plans for the new hotel. Plans for a combination hotel and apartment house, submitted by W. Horace Austin, Long Beach architect, are being exhibited by the city fathers in the council room of the city hall. The center part of the building would be the hotel proper, while the wings at either side are arranged as apartments. PLANS TRIP TO OMAHA Carburetor trouble prevented Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Stuelke from continuing their trip last Sunday up into the mountains beyond Beaumont. They returned home through Redlands with some difficulty, though without any serious misap. Mrs. Stuelke is contemplating a trip to Omaha where she will spend the summer with an aunt. LEAVE SHORTLY FOR CUBA Miss Lillian Yaeger and Miss Clara Stephenson will leave shortly on a trip to Cuba. They will go from here to New Orleans, stopping for a short time at San Antonio, Tex., and thence to Havana, Cuba, and back through New Orleans, St. Louis, Kansas City, Salt Lake, San Francisco and home. ANAHEIM AUTO CO. BUSY The Anaheim Auto Co. reports a rushing business in Bulcks. The first '22 Bulck touring car has just been sold by F. A. Bradock to J. C. Lynch of La Habra. Three coupes were delivered last week and four carloads of Bulucks have been sold within the last two weeks. FORM ALUMNI ASSOCIATION The Fullerton Junior College alumni met Monday night at the Fullerton club rooms for the purpose of organizing an Alumni association. There are now 84 Junior College graduates and probably half of this number are in So., Calif., and many of them are in this vicinity this time of year. Officers were elected as follows: Earl Dysinger, president; Viola Gaff, vice president; Emma Robinson, secretary; Harold Hale, treasurer. The program included an interpretative piano lullaby by Alice Statom and the tradition of "Alumni Matl" by the entire group. Light refreshments were served. DRS, BIGHAM TO TOUR EUROPE Drs. Measr. N. Frank Morse, William Goodwin and Robert McKee, are among those who will journey into Los Angles tomorrow night to take the first degree of the Scottish Rite. Mr. J. W. Keith, who has been suffering from a severe attack of bladder and kidney trouble, was taken to the Fullerton hospital Sunday where he was operated upon Tuesday. Mr. Keith is a prominent citizen and a Grand army veteran, and his many friends are wishing him a speedy recovery. Last Saturday afternoon, H. A. Krause, F. C. Krause, Harry Williams, and H. C. Foss of the First National bank went on a fishing trip to Deep creek by the way of Little Bear. This seems to be a "fish story," but the number of trout caught ranges from 136 to 160 according to stories told by Foss and Williams respectively. SOCIAL CLUB GIVES DANCE The White Shrine social club gave their second dance at the Masonic Temple monday night. They have arranged for a social meeting once a month. FINED FOR RECKLES DRIVING W. H. Smith of Placentia was fined $20 by Judge Cox this morning on the charge of reckless driving. It is charged that his car collided with a Ford driven by W. F.
