AMAL POTTER No. 2 DRILLING AT 3275
Placentia-Richfield
The Amalgamated Off Co.'s Potter No. 2 now drilling at 3275 is showing more oil and gas than any of the Amalgamated's Richfield wells. The oil showing commenced at 3200 and has continued to increase as the well deepened. Breen No. 2 is drilling at 1275 in conglomerate. Page No. 1 at 2780 is fishing. At Brea the Amalgamated is getting ready to put Anaheim No. 54 on the pump at 3600 feet. A 300 barrel well is expected.
Failure to get a shut off on the water in the Clark well at 3600 feet resulted in a second cementing being made. At the above depth a string of 8 inch was set.
There will be no developments on the Dependable Oil Trust's property to announce for the past week. A 100 feet of 2-inch was set and noth-
ing can be done until the 15 1-2 in. arrives on the ground.
The Fullerton Ool Co. has practically only 200 feet more of 4 inch drill pipe to sidetrack before it will be on bottom and putting its deep Anaheim Union well on production. Drilled to 4570 this well had all the indications of a gusher when a twist off of the drill pipe left 400 feet of 4 inch in the hole.
General Petroleum officials predicted a small producer at McCracken No. 1. Drilled to 3275 the well came in at 60 barrels. Bottom water at Group 2-1 is believed to have been located, the well is standing cemented at 4527. Osmun No. 1 is drilling in the oil sand at 3280 and shows up fair. Stern No. 5 is in the sand at 3450. Hugo No. 2 is making good time, the log shows 2965 in the sandy shale. Thomas No. 1 is drilling at 2855 in the conglomerate. Brown 1 shows 2850 feet of hole and Davis No. 1, 3400 feet in the conglomerate. Brown 1 shows 2850 feet of hole.

THE ORANGE COUNTY PLAIN DEALER, ANAHEIM, CALIFORNIA
200 FROM COUNTY AT C. E. CONFERENCE
Two hundred strong, Orange-co Christian Endeavors will be present at the 34th annual convention of the California Christian Endeavor union at Glendale June 25 to 29th.
Each of the 20 C. E. societies in county will be represented by from six to 20 delegates.
Every society in the county is to be visited Sunday evening by a member of the executive committee of the county organization, of which Miss Mabel McFadden of Santa Ana is president. Through these committees enthusiasm concerning the convention will be stirred up. The leaders believe that the county will be better represented at this convention than at any in the history of the state C. E. convention.
Information concerning plans for the state convention as given by Miss Marlon Gerrard of Santa Ana, county preacher and attendee follows:
Encouragers are showing much interest in the convention on allowing to the fact that the state union is in a race with the Ohio Union to see which can register the largest attendance.
In order to promote interest throughout the state a flag race for attendance is being conducted.
All Endeavors or friends who are planning to go to the convention are urged to get the blanks from any of the Endeavors and register now and help Orange County C. E. union be among the first in line in the parade. For those who cannot go to the convention, pre-registration will entitle them to a program and badge which will be mailed later.
The auditorium is already up and being used at present for John Brown evangelistic party, now holding meetings in Glendale. This auditorium will be enlarged to meet the needs of the convention. When finally delivered to the convention it will be the largest auditorium ever used for a state C. E. convention, with the exception of the San Diego stadium in 1915.
A fine program is being prepared and already three speakers of national reputation have been secured.
Rev. Ira Landrith, who for 20 years has been among the nation's glamorous features, has placed 275 boys and girls within the jurisdiction of the juvenile court he declared he did not know, and doubted if anyone could tell the true cause.
"An ounce of prevention is better than a thousand pounds of cure after a boy or girls has become delinquent," said the district attorney. "When the boy or girl starts on the downward path, he or she is just as much of a criminal among juveniles as is the adult criminal among adults."
"It is not restraint after crime is committed or punishment after delinquency that is of benefit—the effective work is that which will prevent them becoming delinquents."
One of the great sources of delinquency is truancy at school, lie and, he believes that institution of a parental school would be effective in saving boys and girls from becoming delinquents.
EXAMINES MINING PROPERTY FROM AIR
LAS VEGAS, Nev., June 10—What is probably a coming method of mine examination was inaugurated here yesterday when Dr. E. E. Free, representing a syndicate of New York bankers, used a huge bombing airplane and motion pictures in examining the large borax mine of the West End Chemical Co., owned by "Borax" Smith, 20 miles east of Las Vegas.
Dr. Free, who is an internationally famous geologist, came from Los Angeles in four hours flying time in a plane supplied by the Mercury Aviation Co., landing in a field prepared by the Las Vegas Aviation club.
The plane then proceeded to the borax mine where a special landing field had been prepared at the mouth of the workings. Not only was an aerial examination made to supplement the usual geological investigation, but aerial photographs were made by F. M. Blackwell, San Francisco motion picture photographer.
Expressing himself as being enthusiastic over the results of the innovation, Dr. Free said today: "Not only are aerial examinations valuable adjuncts to the usual kind, but they disclose many general features...
on the Krug property is moving rapidly and new wells will soon be brot in on this property. Krug No. 1 shows 2300 feet. No. 2 is cleaning out at 2986 to be brought in. Krug No. 3 stands cemented at 2733. No. 4 is making hole at 2300. No. 5's rig is up and No. 6 is building rig.
The Petroleum Midway succeeded in getting Richfield-Consolidated No. 2 cleaned out and at 2804 feet this well is on production making 125 barrels a day. Consolidated No. 1 is drilling at 2825, and No. 3 now well, is drilling at 1000 feet.
The Richfield-Yorba Oil Co.'s No. 1 is now ripping out some 4 inch casing and will be drilling deeper from 3150 on in a few days. As the work progresses the well continues to flow a little oil constantly.
Striking an excellent oil sand carrying oil in quantity the Richfield Giant set 8 inch pipe at 3930. The oil sand was struck at 3935 and the drilling continued to 3960. The showing proved something of a surprise as nothing like it was expected short of 4500 or 5000 feet.
At 3240 the Richfield United Oil Co.'s No. 1 is being cleaned out to go on production. It is thought that the well will do around 300 barrels. Connections have been made with the Standard Oil pipe line for the delivery of the oil.
After standing for a month the Richfield Union Petroleum Co. opened its No. 1 today and the cement is being drilled out. A showing of oil struck at 3200 warrants that something good is not far off.
At 3350 the Ridge Oil Co.'s No. 1 is drilling in brown shale and showing a little oil. The 8 inch was loosened and this is being carried on.
The fast work of the Petroleum Midway developing the Krug property necessitated the S. R. H. Oil Co. to start No. 4, an offset well. The new well, Wardman-Claxton No. 4, set 125 feet of stovetop pipe. W. C. No. 2 is now drilling at 1300 feet in shale. W. C. No. 3 is building rig.
It seems that the Standard Oil Co. can put a deep hole down in any field any time. Some work that is attracting attention is its deep Richfield wells. Vejar No. 1 is now at 4925, and Loftus and O'Bryan No. 1 shows 5045 feet of hole. Both wells are deep test holes and as yet are not showing anything but slight indications of oil.
On the the Kraemer No. 2 property, No. 12 now drilling at 4100 will be the next producer, K-2-13 shows drilling at 3499, and K-2-14 stands cemented at 3200. K-2-15 is drilling at 2300, and 2-16 is a new well just started and now drilling at 600. On the Kellog lease No., also a new well just started, drilling is now 500 feet deep.
Drilled to 4670 and satisfied there is no oil there the Union Oil Co. is abandoning Shepard N. 1.
On the Chapman property the Union has 12 wells under way, the intention being to put the development work right through Chapman No. 5
"The auditorium is already up and being used at present for the John Brown evangelistic party; now holding meetings in Glendale. This auditorium will be enlarged to meet the needs of the convention. When finally delivered to the convention I will be one largest auditorium ever used for a state C.E. convention, with the exception of the San Diego stadium in 1915.
"A fine program is been prepared and already three speakers of national reputation have been secured."
"Rev. Ira Landrith, who for 20 years has been among the nation's foremost fighters for civic righteousness, is one of the speakers. As a member of the FlyingSquadron of America he spoke in 1914-15 in every capital and 300 other cities. He has for 11 years been a college president. He is a writer, journalist and statesman."
"Dr. A.L.Shelton another speaker. He is in this country recuperating from the thrilling experience of being captured by brigands in Tibet, in whose hands he was for 71 days. He penetrated into the land further than anyone had hitherto, and he tells vividly of his experiences."
"The decision solos for the convention are to be given by Mrs.Fanny Marple Retts, a soloist of note in Los Angeles."
"Otis Irionmonger, well known to former convention goers, is to have charge of the chorus and will do some solo work."
"A sunrise service on the hills Sunday morning will be a feature this year. A victory circle similar to those held at the summer conference at Mt.Hermon is to be another attractive feature this year."
"Strong denominational conferences are to be in charge of denominational leaders."
TELLS PROBLEM OF DELINQUENT YOUNG
Establishment of a parental school in Orange county would be a long step toward correction of conditions, now obtaining in this county, which are causing boys and girls to become delinquent, in the opinion of District Attorney A.P.Nelson, as expressed in an address before the Santa Ana Klwanis club.
Nelson took as his subject for a brief discourse, "The Condition of the Youth of our Community," dealing with his experience and observations in the handling of juvenile cases in this county. He declared that delinquency was not confined by the Las Vegas Aviation Club.
The plane then proceeded to the borax mine where a special landing field had been prepared at the mouth of the workings. Not only was an aerial examination made to supplement the usual geological investigation, but aerial photographs were made by F.M.Blackwell, San Francisco motion picture photographer.
Expressing himself as being enthusiastic over the results of innovation, Dr.Free said today: "Not only are aerial examinations valuable adjuncts to the usual kind, but they disclose many general features of geology discoverable otherwise by only weeks of work. Ten minutes in the air is better than ten days on foot."
"The use of motion pictures is also an invaluable aid to a geological engineer's report, making it possible for anyone to see all facts at a Bessica F.Raiche, M.D.

Drilled to 4670 and satisfied there is no oil there the Union Oil Co. is abandoning Shepard N. 1.
On the Chapman property the Union has 12 wells under way, the intention being to put the development work right through. Chapman No. 5 in the oil sand at 4056 is redrilling at 3575. No. 10 cemented at 3030 is ready to drill out. No. 11 is drilling at 3100. No. 12 stands cemented at 3155. No. 13 has the lumber on the ground. No. 14 is drilling at 700 feet. Nos. 15 and 16 are rigged up; No. 12 is drilling at 1300. No. 19 at 875, and No. 20 is setting boilers.
Thompson-Goodwin No. 2 drilling in the oil sand at 3450 looks like a nice well. No. 3 is building rig and No. 4 is close to 1800 in hard sand. McFadden No. 2 in the oil sand at 3180, is held up with a fishing job. No. 3 McFadden is also held up with a fishing job at 2700.
On the Morse property No. 3 at 3028 stands cemented and will be the next producer. As soon as the hole at C, and B, No. 1 has been cleaned of drill pipe this well in the oil sand at 4032 will be ready for production. Stern No. 1 is in the oil sand, but is held up on account of drill pipe twist off. Stern No. 2 is making hole at 1700. Placentia Orchard is proving a hard proposition, the second well drilled to 1625 is held up with a fishing job.
The Wonder Co. Ltd. started its No. 2 well late last week, and now 664 feet of 15 inch is set. No. 1, the first find of the Wonder Co., is holding up splendidly, the production still being 1200 barrels daily, the gravity is 25, and the well is flowing with clock work regularity.
The United Oil Co. is back in the Richfield district and will develop its carpenter property further. The development work of the Petroleum Midway on the Krug property started something and it was necessary for the United to drill some offset wells. Grade work and rig building has started for Carpenter No. 2. Carpenter No. 1 drilled a year ago is still making 60 barrels daily.
